I don't want to go to school!

I was at work today and thought "I don't need to be here... This isn't where I want to be." It's probably the first time I had actually thought that. Before, I was just fine with being a slave to the public, but now I just feel like that's not me. My lifelong dream is to be a farmer, and I think I need to make that happen. Soooo... I need to save up for school. I guess you'd say being a female and being interested in farming is kind of odd, but that's what I want to do. I'm not sure where I want to begin, but I know I need to do something, start somewhere. It's not that I don't enjoy work, I do, but I feel like I make a lot of errors, I feel kind of dumb there. I know I'm not dumb, but I also know that being a cashier just isn't me. I love working with the public in the sense that I get to talk to people, but I just don't want to be a cashier forever. When did you decide you needed to go back to school?

Feeling dumb at work isn't really enough of a reason to not go. If you feel dumb, you have to do something about it the right way. You have to study and figure out what you're doing wrong. If you figure this out, you'll know what to do next.

I haven't gone back to school but I thought about it. the economy is so bad right now though. Even if I got a higher education, jobs are still few and far between because they are already filled. I like working from home online though instead of working for the public.

If I could earn enough online without working for the public, I surely would. However, after four or five years of trying, I haven't found the niche for me. I'm very picky too. The economy is bad, and so anyone going back to school has to be sure it's either something they really want to do regardless of the pay, or how high or low in demand it might be, or they have to be prepared that they may not find a job in their chosen field automatically after graduating. I know that I am going to be going to school for something in high demand, and I also want to take hobby classes to learn a few trades and be able to rely on that during craft season. Essentially, I'd like to rely on myself to earn and have my own set hours / free schedule.

You mean you need to go to school to be a farmer? Really? What kind of work in the farm? You said you need to save money for school. Maybe you should find a better job aside from cashier. Try to do other job that you have a little interest with.

You don't necessarily have to go to school to become a farmer, but it helps. Of course there's a lot more I'd need to do as well. I'd have to have money to either buy my own land and livestock as well as seeds and farming equipment, or I'd need to work on a farm. Having experience or education helps in any field, especially farming. I am also experienced in stocking or waitressing, as well as being an IHA, but i'd rather do stocking.. really I'd rather do none of that.

Good for you for wanting more out of your life! I say do your best and go for it. I went to University and couldn't find work afterward. I went to College a year later but that field was too competitive (600 applicants, 5 openings) so now I'm back in College AGAIN. I'll keep doing it as long as it takes to do something I love.

I know a lot of people say that even after going to school, whether it be univeristy or college, you can't always find work in the field of your expertise. i want to study something that I KNOW I could find work in, even if that meant self employed. Farming and studying crafts is WHAT I want to do.

I have been in school now for a couple of years. I will be getting my degree next year and I guess I thought I wanted to go back when the economy flopped. I wanted to be more competitive in the job market if anything were to happen to the place I work at now. I had actually been wanting to go back for a long time but my kids were young and it had to be about them. Now they are a bit older and I can do this for myself. Good luck and take care.

I've got to still think long and serious about this though. The things I want to do doesn't necessarily require college education, though it might be a bit easier. I think I may start off small with hobby classes etc. I'd like to be some of these people on ETSY and be able to earn from my hobbies, however, I also want to be able to farm. I guess I want to just work off the land and for myself, but I know it won't be easy. I know some people never stop going back to school, and I really admire them, but I think a lot of people take awhile because of their family life, and because they're not sure WHAT to go to school for. Congratulations on getting your degree next year! I knew you were in school and have kids to take care of, as well as a job and looking after the home. That's a big big responsibility... something I'm not sure I could do all at once.

good for you! proud to hear you want to go back to school to pursue your life long dream. I want to go back to school so badly, even all of the back to school sales are getting me all excited. I cant afford it now but I hope to some day. I think with most people it just hits them one day. They realize, what am I waiting for? Kind of the way you did:)

There are lots of female farmers now. Mostly growing organic veggies where I live. Lovely people. Some are cooking for farmers' markets and some are working at selling maple syrup. What kind of farming would you like to do? Where would you like to get your land from? Do you have any experience doing waht you want to do?

I am still a student now. But I find that what I study now is not what i really like, just some i do not hate. I hope I can be chef in the future, but now I am on the way to be an engineering. I now try to learn some recipes on the TV. To me, I think if you really need specially skills for being a farmer, you should set out to learn them in the school, and school is a good place for you. You can enjoy your life and meet people with young age and fresh ideas. If you have the enough skill for a farmer, why not set out to do it and learn during the work.

I never did. I am nearly 60 and the only extra schooling was when I realized i wanted to be a writier. I took a mail order school called Famous Writers School. Had famous writers as the CEOs and it was a great school. I think that if you want to be a farmer you should go to school and become one.

Just this spring I decided I wanted to go back to school. I was enrolled in a program years ago, but I just had to take a leave as my youngest son was born, and I couldn't handle working 2 jobs at that time, and going to school and taking care of a baby. My son will be starting kindergarten this fall, and I think it's about time to go back myself.

I am in school. I had gone to school back in 2005 and obtained my Bachelor's degree in 2010. I am now persuing a Masters in early chilhood education then I will get a second masters in Special Education. I will hve my first Masters in April and my second one in April 2013. I am sorry that your job is not going that well for you. If you are really unahappy look into going to school. You should be able to get financial aid which will help you pay for almost everything.

Financial Aid is all good and well but I'll need to do a lot more before I can even sign up for classes. Lots of research as to where I'll go to school as well as getting myself to and from there. I'll figure it all out, but first things first I've go to save.

Every moment of my life way back since I got my child, I wanted to go back to school. I'm not able to pursue my college because I got pregnant while I am a student. I have my job right now at the famous telephone company in my country and the earning is good, but sometimes I think I'm not deserve to this job. At the first place I only finish the first year of my college but the qualification to get my position was at least 2nd year. I want to go back to school and finish my course to ease the guilt I felt. The guilt I feel for unknown reason.

i often sank into the same contrdiction asyou did. i'm now a student and will also long vacations in summer and winter. these days, i found myself can't enjoy the vacation as i did before. i can't let myself to do nothing but eat and play. i think i need a vacation which don't need to be that long. one week is enough for me to refresh. and in the days left, i was just planning to go back to school. but when the school days came, i just began thinking of my boring vacation.
