Ah.. Isn't it nice to receive something as amazing as Books... I remeber I received a heavy encyclopedia from one of my cousins when I was very young. I used to spend hours on it. Yes, I have a good collection of books both fictional and non-fictional. I do buy Books whenever I can. Umm fav.. Author.. that's difficult to pick one..but I love the works of Charles Dickens. Good to be back, Ann Bodhi

I have quite a lot of books but most of them are reference. I do keep some novels by favourite authors - I like Terry Pratchett, Joanne Harris, Patrick O'Brian, Carlos Ruiz Zafon and Colleen McCullough (her Rome seires). I don't keep novels unless I know I will read them more than once. I either pass them along to friends or take them to a charity shop to be resold. I get most of my books second-hand which is good because it costs less. It also means I'm more willing to try out an author I've not heard of before. I found Zafon that way!

Hi tigeraunt. That was a very nice gift to receive. I too have a collection of books and readers digest. Before I used to subscribe with readers digest. I just stopped it because my expenses are getting high. I usually buy hard covered books from Readers Digest and self development books. I follow John Maxwell, Stephen Covey and Robert Kiyosaki. I also love novels by Danielle Steel.

What a thoughtful gift giver! I think there is no finer gift than a book--it gives you new worlds, new ideas, allows you to escape to another world and teaches you new things whether it's fiction or fact. I love books and used to have quite a library but I had to give all my books away or sell them. Now I make regular trips to the library. I always have a book here to read and down in my storm/emergency room I have a few books I haven't read plus books for younger readers just in case a disaster happens. As for authors, I don't really have a favorite but I like Orson Scott Card, F. Paul Wilson, San Sanford, Jonathan Kellerman, Dean Koontz, Stephen King and a lot of others. I'm always up for reading or re-reading a classic novel--the thing about classics is that when you read them again you always learn something new about the character or realize new things about the culture described in the book. They are always new in some way! I hope you enjoy your books and the worlds they take you to!

hi dragon, i guess i have mentioned one time that i always have a pocket book in my bag wherever i go. sometimes i arrive early for a meeting and so that i will not feel bored waiting, i always bring something to read. i envy you being very near a library. here i need to travel 20 minutes just to be in a library. so i prefer having my own collection. ann

hi tigerAunt I l ove whodunits and mystery hence agatha Christie, A Conan D oyle, Sue grafton, Mary Higgins Clark and oh yes I am a fan pf stephan King too , avid fan. I also like Jane Austen and Louisa May Alcott and my book collection is in storage yet. I love to read some of the readers digest novel collections. I am not a fan of Harlequin paper backs as they are so much the same and I never could understand why a woman would love a man who treated her like some of those guys in those sappy novels treat their women. Phyllis Whitney is also a very favorite author of mine. I love t o read.

Hi Tigeraunt, how do you manage to get others to send books to you? I would love to read these. I do not buy and collect books anymore. Storage is a problem. I live in a flat, and the space is really limited. I need to give away many books after moving to current flat, which is smaller than the former one. I read about one book every other day. Fortunately library is just 20 minutes walk away, I can simply go, borrow a few books, and spend the night reading.

If I was to mention favorite authors, I am still in love with Mark Twain, Louisa May Alcott, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and many more. While I loved a good fiction when I was of school age and still do, my interests now seem to delve on history. I find my interests range from Medieval to World War II One of my favorite periods is the civil war. There is so much we can learn from history and an author can always make room for more opinions and possibly change our way of thinking. Hope you enjoy your new books. I am presently finishing one called "Letters of a Portuguese Nun" by Myriam Cyr This is the whole history of the famous Portuguese Sonnets. I remember studying them and did not connect this book to them until I had bought it and started reading it. Its indeed fascinating how it delved history and war to a Portuguese Nun. My next book ready to pick up that I got off Ebay is A World Lit Only By Fire by William Manchester. This is a medieval mind and the Renaissance Portrait of an Age. I found the title quite inticing so had to get it. What are your favorite types of reading?

Yes, I have different collections of books. I have lots of anime manga books. I like also to collect books about horror and about life. My favorite author is Paulo Coelho. Coelho writes magnificent and interesting books. Every book that he writes, you can learn a lot of moral lessons out of it.

Any book under the sun will do for me, as long as it is written in a language i can understand. Usually, i read romance novels, fantasy and stories that have detectives in them. My fave author? Paulo Coelho writes very interesting books! And of course, there's JK Rowling.
