Bad Service!

Did you know SEARS hires wussie boys for deliveries and repairs? Two guys showed up. They took the water hose off the back of the old fridge then drove away - whining about the "bad smell." We spent all bloody weekend cleaning and, if anything, the place reeks of Gardenia! Supposedly they're sending another team back tomorrow, but if they don't I guess I'll have to get some REAL MEN to go pick up the new fridge and install it. These two wimps had better hope they never have to empty a diaper pail or snake a toilet - they're faint dead away! (Probably WHY most men don't do diapers I guess!) Kicker is, the repair pansies have done this before to us. MOST of our repair requests have been nightmares!! The only reason we even use the fools at SEARS to begin with is because we have a credit card for big purchases. We might just ditch the whole thing - like SO many other SEARS customers and start shoping at Home Depot or Lowes. Likely we'll get better service where REAL men shop. Next stop... Angie's List! Have you ever gotten such rotten service from SEARS or any company?

Hey Elic! I wouldn't deal with Sears/KMART if they were the last Company on Earth! They have the worst Customer Service ever! I have actually had more issues with KMART, but since Sears actually owns them they are one in the same! I had a similar problem with "Sleepys" when I had them deliver and pickup my old bed. One of the delivery guys was told he had to take the "old mattress" away and had a "fit" because he had "just washed his hands"Well, that's you're job and I don't have bedbugs, just an old brokeass bed!

Kmart isn't even in the market anymore, and I swear I haven't seen too many people shopping in the local Sears... they seem to be failing maybe

Hi Opal. I had to sue Kmart once, when my kids were little. I was in there to buy paint that was on sale and my kids were about 4 and 7. My 7-year-old saw a Whirligig (those things like flamingos or ducks that you stick in the ground in your garden with the wings that spin around in the wind) display and one was on the floor. He bent down to pick it up but didn't notice that most of the Whirligigs that were in a box were upside down with the metal sticks poking straight up or at an angle. I think you can guess what happened. My son bent down and poked a hole in his eyelid from one of those metal sticks. He started screaming right away and blood was pouring down his face. Luckily, we were right near the bathrooms so I took him in there to get him cleaned up and see how bad it was. I was coming out of the restroom when I heard my 4 year old screaming and saw blood all over his face. He had done the exact same thing!!! My husband was with him and they were heading toward the bathroom so I took him in while my older son stayed with him. My youngest son had torn the edge of his eyelid where the eyelashes are. I didn't know how bad the damage was and just wanted to get to the hospital as soon as possible. The manager of Kmart came running after me because she wanted me to sign a waiver, so I wouldn't sue them. I said I'm not signing anything. I'm getting my sons to the hospital. I told her I'd call her later. Once we got back from the hospital, I told her what had to be done (they both needed stitches in their eyelids, lucky for Kmart there was no worse damage) and she again tried to get me to come in to sign a waiver. I called a lawyer. The lawyer told me that she claimed she told us to keep the kids away from the display but I never met this woman until we were almost out the door. Naturally, that really pissed me off because not only do they have extremely dangerous displays in their store but their manager lies to protect it! Luckily, the day of court, Kmart decided settle the case for the full amount we were after. I only wanted the medical expenses plus some for their pain and suffering (not to mention mine, having to hold them down in the hospital while they got their eyelids sewn up!). We got the full amount because Kmart didn't want the lawsuit on their record. It looks much better for them if they just settle out of court. I didn't know they'd wait until we were sitting right outside the court to settle but at least they did. I haven't shopped at Kmart since then.

Damn MW! That was quite a story! Your poor boys. I would have sued them for as much as possible too! Glad the kids weren't hurt any worse than they were. @Elic-we still have a KMART one town up from where I live. I haven't shopped in there in years, but the problem I did have with them was with an online order. We also have a Sears store in the next City up from where I live and I never shop there either!

When I first moved into my home in Tennessee I got an air conditioner for the house from Sears that's when I found out they hire the job out to a contractor and I got charged twice what the would have cost with anyone else so I learned a hard lesson. I will Not do that ever again. I may buy an appliance from them but never a service from them. Not anything where they will have someone come do the work at my home. You are paying twice for that work. Sears over charges to begin with for the job and then they over charge that price again by double or more so they can pay the other company for the work. It's best to just hire the contractor yourself, but make sure they are licensed.

if they fail to deliver tomorrow, then they will probably be eating a lot of money... because I'm cancelling the order and going to try to get money back on other things

It seems Sears can only see the $ signs and during hard times that kind of business won't last especially with modern shopping online.

I haven't had that experience with Sears, but Cox Communications has nearly given me a heart attack or two with the amount of stress they put upon me by their incompetent service.

I have heard a LOT of bad things about Cox and we don't even have them in Austin (but hear about it from friends in Houston)

A service along the line of what you are describing we got from Ashley Furniture. We bought a bedroom set and basic table set. Well the bedding came and the dresser was damaged so they had to send someone out to repair it. Then when they delivered the table they didn't have all the chairs I was like WTH how do you deliver a partial kitchen set? We had to wait i think a week or so to get the rest of it. Poor quailty and poor service. We had a guy convert us from Electric service to gas service for our dryer. The man took nearly 2 days that if hubby would of felt comfortable doing it could of taken a mere couple hours. The guy charged us several hundred and took hours on end for parts and lunch breaks. I wish Angies list didn't charge a person.

I haven't but if I did, I would be mad as a hornet. I use Sears and they are very strict about their customer service...I bet those guys would lose their jobs if you called the hotline. If I was every treated like that, I don't think I'd use them anymore. They call me about twice a year when I haven't been there in a while to make sure I'm still happy with them. Let them know right away.

The roomie was on the phone with them ASAP, we also called and talked to the local store where we got the fridge. If they can't do their job tomorrow, they are losing the sale and I'm going some place else, that's for DAMN sure!

You know, when it comes to the installation person that we had come to our house from Home Depot when we bought our carpet three years ago was awesome and I would definitely use them again if I could be assured that the same man would be coming to do my install. However, their customer service otherwise was terrible. They called us on the day that we were supposed to have our install and told us that they weren't going to be able to make it that day and for that reason they were supposed to refund a portion of our purchase (which they never did). When the guy showed up the next day, it turns out that our carpet was cut wrong and we had to wait two weeks for the right sized carpet to come in (and they were supposed to refund us 20% of our purchase price). They never made the refunds that we were promised and for that reason I don't shop at Home Depot anymore, but I loved the instillation guy, who it turns out is actually a subcontractor for Home Depot.

I've had issues off and on with Home Depot, nothing bad enough to keep me from ever going back... but making me wary. The people in the store are always GREAT, but sometimes things are quite right. I got my first shed from Home Depot and they were coming out of San Antonio, got caught in one of the worst traffic tangles of the year and ended up having to get off I-35 and come up another way but were still 3 hours late (they did call and let me know of the problems) But I had to buy my own paint, something that the other shed place pre-painted before building... and the Home Depot shed was almost as uneven as the other places that caused so many problems with the shed conversion this summer.

Nope, that is very unprofessional. I have not got the cleanest of houses. I have not needed new appliances in ages. When I do buy them, they appreciate the money I am spending and do their jobs, like men. Sometimes we bring stuff in and install it ourselves as well. I also have a friend who does appliance repairs and he is blind. When he has helped us in the past it has usually cost forty dollars and he is never rude.

no but some of my friends who have had lots of cats have had that problem and that is here in Montreal. The city only allows two cats per household because of that.

Oh good lord, it was most likely the water hose that they were smelling. Those things do smell sometimes. Like you, I had a card for large expenses through Sears. I bought my washer and dryer through them which I still have so no complaints on the product at all. The service on the other hand? I can see sears from my apartment. When I bought the machines, I had no means of transporting them and so they delivered. The delivery charge was somewhere in the range of 50.00. These guys did not even have to load it in a truck. They walked it to my apartment. There was nothing for them to take out of here. It was a quick and easy job...no breaks or discounts for that. They did scrape up my wall bringing it up here and they hooked it up wrong so that all I could wash on was HOT water which ran my elec. bill up before I figured it out and fixed things. I can't remember just what went on with the paying back of that card but there were some issues. I was paying weekly and then paying my monthly payment in an attempt to pay it down. I really don't remember but they did something that caused a few verbal exchanges. Anyway..I paid them off and would never deal with them again.

I've never had an experience like that, I'm sorry you did! I rarely buy new things and have never had to buy a large appliance. I may have to in the future as I inherited all my appliances from the previous owner of my house but I hope it's not soon. I'll probably go to Lowe's, though, because they are cheaper than Sears on so many items. Those wussies were rude--what happened to the customer is always right, shut your mouth and do your work?! I would definitely complain to Sears corporate, that's inexcusable. And I doubt the smell was that bad from a water hose, they're just in the wrong occupation!

That does sound like a total nightmare! I hope that enough people complain to the company or stop shopping there or using their repair services so that maybe they will take the hint...either get good people working there or lose all your customers. Hopefully the situation has resolved.

Boy, those sears repair and delivery people did sound like wussies. I have been lucky to not have such bad luck with the delivery people from Sears. I don't know if the delivery people even works for Sears or not. Because the delivery truck didn't have the Sears logo on the side. The delivery people were nice to deliver the product. I guess the only problem was the dirty shoes coming in the house. So I had to clean up the dirt and mud when they left.

I never used SEARS repair man, and I never buy any electronics from them. So, I don't have much info about how bad their services were. I would suggest you, file a complaint to their manager, or their electronic department about it. Let them know that you are a regular customer, and they treated you like dirt. Better yet, after file a complaint, never turn your patronage to them.

We got two new mattresses from Sears in September soon after moving in to this house. One was a queen size mattress; the other, a full. Both were good ones, on sale at great prices - in fact, ours had originally been nearly 1,100 dollars and we got it for slightly less then five hundred. They went with the new platform beds we bought so I didn't need a box spring at least. Anyway, ONE sears guy showed up to bring the mattresses in! One. he looked no bigger than my slightly built 18 year old son who would never dream of being a delivery guy because he's slightly built! He looked at our stairs to the second floor - the kind that twist around. And are a bit steep. And asked, very reluctantly, "Where do you want these?" Oh was I tempted to say - up the steps, down the hall to the end bedroom for the queen size! But I didn't. I didn't want to deal with broken bones or concussions. Later, my two neighbors - real men - hoisted the mattresses up the stairs. Considering the queen nearly jammed between the steps and the lower part of the ceiling at one point, I was oh, so glad Sears boy didn't do this. I bought the guys a six pack of Bud light in bottles for their effort - their favorite. They wouldn't take any money.

oh crap.you don't EVEN wanna get me started on sears.my dad had an account there for over 30 years, and as he lay dying with other things on his mind,he forgot about the bill. so they called every fricking day for over a month and wouldn't tell me what they wanted. finally i snapped and said "LOOK,he's dying and full of morphine-you're gonna have to deal with me sooner or later, what the hell do you want?" the bill was less than 25 dollars.woke up a dying vet for less than 25 dollars. i told them i'm paying them and they WILL close that account right now. *pause* "but, you've had that account with us for 30 years!" should have thought of that.take your crappy products and service and shove them sideways. *cough*..off my soapbox.
