Well, here in North Texas we just got done with a complete down pour that went on for about 2 hours. The flooding got really bad. So bad that the water was coming up all the way to my house. It does not usually do that. We went out and looked around the town and it was flooding all around! Our town was like one big lake! I took a photo of the flooding on my road (my road was like a river). I submitted it to my local TV station (NBC DFW) and they actually put my picture on the air and said my name and all that good stuff. I was surprised that they did it because I have sent pics before and I never see them on the TV, but for once it happened. It made me feel kind of cool truthfully. Had people on Facebook telling me they heard my name on the news. So, now that I got my 5 minutes of fame, have you ever submitted some news and had it aired on your local television station? Also, how is the weather in your area? Lots of water falling lately?

I live in Minnesota and we get a wide variety of weather as you do. Well, we get blizzards and you don't like here. Anyhow, I have had many photos of hail, tornado damage, snowstorms and rain photos aired on a few various TV chanells here in the past few years. Some people call me a storm chaser of sorts as when a storm of any type hits, I am known to grab my digital camera and head into the storm for photos. I have not been paid as I love taking and sharing photos. I've done many a discussion about storms with photos I took added as well in years past here on myLot. Normal temps and a little snow is all so far this fall/winter. Going to be in the 50's for Turkey day though so the 2 inches I got will be gone by then. I want some snow and I want it now actually. LOL. I love the snow. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I liked your photo of the snow tunnel at Minnie's house last year. I was impressed.

I bet seeing all of your photos on the news must be kind of neat. Well, maybe not so much after a while. I have a feeling those people are happy to see your photos as it shows how it is in various areas and what they may be able to expect if they will be getting what you got. I would never expect to be paid either because I do it just because I like sending in photos and letting people see them, much like you. Your lucky to have such average weather there. Been in a horrible drought here, so this rain is very much needed. I love snow also, hope to get a few snow showers here this year!

Hmm, well I think I was on the news a loooong time ago in elementary school! The weather, well it was raining a bit. Ya'll needed the rain, no? I read an article about a drought in texas and burial sites being uncovered!

I have not seen you in a while either, I have been on a bit of a Mylot streak these last couple of days! My Mylot money balance is showing because of it... ha ha My news channels also do the babies and animals and such, they also like when people send in weather photos like I did. Yeah, we needed the rain VERY badly, and still need a lot more as the lakes are way down. I saw that discussion you are referring to, I found that really interesting!

So far no precipitation here, maybe some tomorrow night. I do not send stuff into the television stations so I have never received notice for them either. I bet that was really cool for you, though.

I had always been afraid that I would receive no recognition for the photos that I would be sending in to the news station. I finally got one noticed and they said my name, the town it was from, and also said thanks for submitting. I feel that is good enough for me as I am not looking for to much recognition. I like seeing it on the TV screen most of all. Hope you get some precip, I know lots of people could use it! Happy Mylotting!

Wow, I first read this last night and it was misty outside, but I got distracted and soon it was too late, so I had to sign off. But now that I found it again guess what? It's pouring rain... Congrats on getting your pics shown on the news, we also have that here, but I haven't shared any pictures yet, maybe today....

Yeah, definitely sounds like any photo taking opportunities have passed. At least for the news any way. We had one fo those dreary days here. Very cold and the fog pretty much never left the whole day, not the best Thanksgiving day. We have had worse though.

I guess my discussion rubbed off on you and the clouds decided to open up and pour on you! Well, it has stopped raining here and now it is blue skys and a nice hilly fall day. Maybe you can snap a few pics and try submitting them to your local television station! Have a great day! Happy Mylotting!

Wow thats nice. Especialy something that you least expected then Bang you got it. Here in my country especially where im staying it has been raining everyday and we could hardly see the sun. The swimming pool looks inviting but it too cold to swim...brrrrr,its not the swim but after the swim. Back to the rainy days, i kind of love it cause drinkking tea or coffe during the rain could give an uplifting feeling as in the aristocrates

You got that right, I was really not expecting to see my photo on the news at all. I sent it in never expecting them to use it, but hey they did and it was really cool! Our pool needs cleaned out so it is not very inviting at all, on top of that it is around 45 degrees here in North Texas so not very inviting at all! Have a great day or evening!

hi:) here also in the Philippines when it's raining month, it pours for the whole day and the result is flood all over the city especially on the central part. they even use small boats on some area just to got home because cars can't enter on some part. about what you did, that's cool, maybe your photos are good that's why they air it. congrats!

Wow, sounds like it can get pretty bad where you are at during certain months when it rains a lot there. That sounds like our Spring time here. We get many storms and the storms can be pretty severe at times. My photo was not really good because I used my iPod Touch to take it. But I guess it was not to bad. Thanks for the kind words. Happy Mylotting!

To answer your second question first: Living in England, the weather is always interesting! We've not had much rain recently though which is unusual! I've never submitted anything like that to the news but I was once interviewed for a news programme. My local pub was doing meals for 99p. We happened to be in there when the news crew arrived so we were on the local BBC News for that. That was good until I watched myself on it and realised I sounded like my sister! As it happens, the people who did that didn't stay much longer and the pub has changed ownership a couple of times since.

Same thing for us here, we have not had much rain at all. We are way below average, it is probably not as bad there as it is here but we have REALLY needed some rain, and the rain storm we got yesterday was just the beginning to how much rain we need to get. That would be kind of cool also I think to get interviewed by a news station. I think that would be even more cool to be interviewed instead of just seeing your photo used. I am sure you sounded fine. lol

Yes, yes! You are in the presence of a famous person right here no Mylot! No, but it was really kind of neat for those few seconds to see my photo on the television. I was also thinking about how many people send in photos, so I must be pretty lucky. Have a great day!

It's fun being famous, even if the fame is only fleeting. I achieved a minute of world-wide fame a few weeks ago, when I submitted a comment to the BBC World Service via e-mail, and they read my e-mail on the air, using my name and everything. It was pretty cool, knowing that millions of people all over the world know what I thought!

Wow now that is some real recognition! Mine was just on a local television station so only a few people saw it, but people being able to see it from around the world is pretty awesome! I would love to be able to submit something to a national news channel and they use it on air. Maybe one day, got to start with the small places first!

We are actually very happy about the rain here, if it would have not came so fast and caused so much wide spread flash flooding. We have been in a horrible drought for a while now and we need the rain very badly. Hope you get some rain since it sound like you need it there. Thanks for the comments! Happy Mylotting!

That's really cool! I submitted a picture of my dog to my local CBS TV station once and the picture got on the air. It was supposed to have to do with the elections, so I put the 'I voted' sticker I got when I voted on his chest and took a picture of it. It was really cute. And then my parents were once interviewed on our local FOX news station. It was weird. They happened to be somewhere where they were stopping people and asking them questions about traveling and got on the news. He had people calling them to tell them they had seen him. And my sister posted the link to the video on her Facebook page. Congrats again!

I think it's a big deal. I think it's really neat for your name and everything to be said on the news. The thing with my dog was 13 years ago, so he has passed on. The thing with my parents was this summer. It's not common to get your pictures on the news so it's cool that you got it.

Wow, sounds like your family has gotten a few different appearances in some way or another on your local news! While I guess it is not that big of a deal it is still cool to see something you took a shot of on the air. I bet your dog is really cute, sure sounds like it! Same for me, people were all over Facebook saying they heard my name and saw my photo on the news. It was really neat!

AweSOME! We had a brief, hard downpour, but its stopped now. All that thunder and lightening stuff tho. I ended up in the news in 1972 when a news crew happened onto my car wreck coming back from a news event in San Marcos and mentioned my name. Very strange having people calling or stopping by to see how I was!

I agree with you on how weird it is having so many people call you up and come to you about it. I was on Facebook and before long I had people messaging me saying did you see that your pic was on the news and that's so cool. It really was a different kind of feeling! We had that rain last night and it really cleared out today. Just a nice chilly fall day for us here. Happy Mylotting!

We've been getting some drizzly evenings and nights, but no exceedingly hard rain as of yet. I actually enjoy the rain (save for the freezing temperature) this time of year as there is less likely to be a thunderstorm. It must have been very exciting to see your photo on television! I am originally from New Orleans and my parents tell me that when I was a baby there was a flood and people were paddling boats down our street. The water just barely missed the house, they said. I'm glad I grew up (and still live) in much higher environs, though it would be interesting to see a photo of people taking boats down the street instead of cars! I don't think my parents took one though. I'll have to see if someone posted a similar sight on YouTube or something. I have never submitted anything to my local TV station. I don't even watch television, let alone local news. I'm not quite sure what I'd submit if I did! A friend of mine was on local news several times - she wasn't interview or mentioned or anything, but it was great to see a familiar face.

Sorry about the delay in posting. Been very busy for me. I also enjoy rain, most people it makes depressed but for me I enjoy watching it rains. It really was exciting because not every day is it that you hear your name or see a photo you own shown on your own local TV station for thousands if not close to a million people to see. Maybe the next time a big weather event happens you could send in a photo of it. It's always worth a try!

Congratulations...BRAVO! You created some "sunshine" for yourself at a very dreary time! As I sit here, typing this....the wind is absolutely HOWLING outside--been a long time since it has been this bad, so expecting the power to go out any minute! Living on an Island, in the middle of the Ocean, means the vast expanse of the ocean, the winds can gather up some tremendous speed...means we will be isolated as long as the storm lasts...OH YES, it comes replete with torrential rain storms , too! I am dreading going to work this morning, as I ride an E-bike...OMG, I will be one drowned rat by the time I get there, if the wind doesn't blow me off my bike! Thank goodness, I only have wood heat! Hope your rain goes away, too!

Cherish your fleeting moment of fame...hope you were able to tape if for future posterity..!! I live in the Southern Gulf Islands, just off the coast of B.C. The WET coast right now, not the West Coast! In between two straights..Georgia and Juan de Fuca, so the winds can get up a pretty good head of steam, also we are located on the San Andreas fault (Ring of Fire) and we have lots of earthquakes...not the big one yet, thank goodness! My property is also on a hillside, flooding is not something I have to worry about...but I am fearful of winds. Yesterday morning, my portable carport..was just that, very portable, it had been blown about 10 feet, what a mess, as I keep all of the work equipment in it! Incidentally, the rain has NOT stopped...it is raining so hard, I have NO satellite T.V. reception..so that is hard rain! YOU CAN have all you want, as it is getting depressive!

Thanks, I really did feel it was pretty cool seeing my picture on the TV. What island is it that you live on? It sounds like it is pretty bad there from what you are saying, maybe a little bit better now since the time that you wrote your post? I like it when we get steady rain for awhile, but when you get a really big downpour you get flash floods, and that is never good. I hope the rain and wind will let up by the time you go to work! Happy Mylotting!

It is really cool that something nice happened to you in the midst of this bad storm. I never had anything aired on the news that I sent something out about. I did get interviewed on the news once when I was in Chicago. My husband messed up the tape though so I never saw it. I was with my sister in laws and husband's aunt at the time and they interviewed us about the weather. My sister in laws ex husband managed to tape it but I have never seen it. I also submitted a recipe to my local newspaper once and they published it and I also won $50 so that was really cool.

Yeah it was really cool and I was totally surprised! I think if I had the chance to be taped and put on the news then I would probably completely mess up and they would throw my tape out. That is the good thing about for me sending in pics or for you to send in a recipe. It's just easier. Congrats on winning the $50! That is an added little bonus!
