What do I do now?

I have found something that my mother-in-law would like on TV Shopping. I went to their website, placed an order, then I was taken to the payment page. I mentioned I would pay by NetBanking. When I get to the payment page, there was no NetBanking Option, so went ahead to pay by Debit Card. I've done everything, put all the information over secure transaction, and then.....the screen pop up saying transaction NOT allowed. I received an SMS telling me the same thing. I thought I'd call them up in the morning regarding the failed transaction. Before I could call them, they called me to verify my address. I verified my address then explained to them that the transaction failed. I was then transferred to another person, and explained the same thing. Again transferred to another person, explaining over again how I received transaction failed message. The guy then told me, 'No, we have received your payment, we are sending out your order now.' I'm confused, how can they receive payment from me when the transaction failed. I started to get worried a little. I checked my account, and guess what, there's no transaction to them from my account! What do you think I should do? Call them again and tell them or wait a few days to see if they debit my account? Could it be a case of third party payment gateway and they will only debit my account once the seller confirmed shipment?

With PayPal, it can take up to a week -- and sometimes more -- to see the transaction at your bank, but it looks a bit weird for a payment made with a debit card. If they have something in their servers, maybe the transaction did not failed and you will see it later on your bank account ? I suppose they will contact you again if they have not received your money in a few days, so I would not phone again. I don't think that they can say anything more today.

LOL. If you want to buy other items, it would be better to pay for it... except if they never ask.

Don't think I'll buy from them again though. They don't have anything else I need or might want to buy. I don't think I'll ever be sold on Ab King Pro or Belt Massager or Sauna Slim Belt. Wait!! I might just be interested in their Crazy massager, but it costs too much for me.

Very weird. I tried to explain to them. Actually I was asking them for a different method of payment as well. They cut me off, saying they have already received the payment. If the item arrive tomorrow or the day after, I will be doing the happy dance.

Hi zralte Lucky you Seriously speaking, why not ask the bankers? They will give you the correct scenario and you can decide... If the payment has not been passed means it will not get passed... There is no 3rd party as the payment is done via your debit card and the deduction has to be that very moment. If your bank statement doesnt reflect it, there will be some issue with the records of the Firm from where you purchased... and if they are happy why are you worried... If the bank transactions say nothing, forget about it, and if at a later date they deduct an amount - File a Consumer Case. This time you are sure to win as you did NOT use a Credit Card

Why are you bothered so much for the seller? I am sure he will have his money somehow. All you should think is when the amount gets deducted from your account if that has not yet been done. And if it gets deducted after the product is delivered, and you are not willing (maybe because the product is useless or faulty) you can always file that Case... Forget all this and prepare for the product to arrive... btw what did you buy? Am quite sure it is not a piece of real estate or Platinum

I wish I were that lucky, thesids. Seems luck does not favour me these days, so I don't hold out much hope on me being lucky. Anyway, I'll call up the bank, but I know what they are going to say. I have online banking and if it does not show in my online statement, it will not show anywhere either. Just my thinking. What about if I wait to receive my item - it's coming from Delhi, and they said they are sending out today, that means I'll be getting the item tomorrow, probably, if not, the day after. If money is still not deducted, I'll call the seller and tell them. Does that sound like a good idea? See, I don't trust myself to make a good judgement these days.

I would wait and see what happens. Sometimes when we order online, there are strange things that happen at that critical momemnt. Sometimes their is a glitch and we do not know if our order went through or not. We don't want to order again, for fear we might get double. These things happen. Hope you get what you ordered.

I do hope I get the item too. I am buying for my mother-in-law. Now I'm wondering if the last person I talked to may not be aware of the payment thing. Another puzzling thing is, I did not get any email from them, just a phone call to confirm the address.

If they say that they have received payment, then I would keep checking with your bank to see whether or not the transaction goes through. Also, I would wait to see whether or not you receive what you ordered. If you do receive it and the transaction never goes through, then you just got an early Christmas present. If you don't receive it and the transaction doesn't go through, then I guess you will have to think of something else to get your mother-in-law.

Oopsie....I haven't been very attentive of my discussions...... Oh well, the item hasn't arrived yet. I expected it two days ago since it was supposed to come from Delhi, which is just 6 hours by road, and they did say they were sending it out that day. I'm now thinking of calling them about the order.

Do you still like it? I guess just don't worry about it. As long you receive that item that you want. After you receive that item and still you don't get paid. Then I think that's the time you tell them what happen. But as long you don't receive your goods. I think you don't need to push the issue. What if deduct it then you don't receive your order? So its always good to get the goods first.

I still haven't received it and I am now thinking of calling them to find out about it. I do like to get that, I think it would make a nice present for my mother-in-law. I guess I'll have to pay for it now. So much for thinking I got lucky.

If the transaction is failed they did not receive your payment. So what you check out now first is: is the money from your account or credit card or whatever it will taken from. Does that company sent you a message about it. If this is not the case, you did not pay and they did not received anything. If the money is from your account you know you did pay them and they have to send you what you ordered (you can prove the payment then). It can be you did pay and there is a kind of bug in the programm, so you get this message but they still received your order + payment in an other department. I don't know where you ordered but with aliexpress it works this way: you order, pay (to aliexpress). They confirm it, the person you ordered at confirms it. It will be shipped (you get the message and trackingcode). After you it's delivered and you checked if it's fine you go back on the internet and confirm it. After that aliexpress will pay the shop (after asking you again you are sure it's okay). So you get messages over and over again.

That is the puzzling part. They were adamant that they received the payment. I had to talk to 3 different people about it. No money has been debited from my account as of now. My bank send me SMS for every transaction, online or offline. I did not receive any message. I checked my bank account, no money has been taken out. It is very confusing.

It looks like there is something wrong with the transaction, I hope your debit card was not hacked by someone else when the time you were about to do some online transactions. Since there are a lot of cases of stolen numbers from debit or credit cards. Always check your card anytime to your bank. You might be surprised that your money lost in your account lately, and wondering who uses your account even you don't withdraw. Bear in mind, online transaction using only debit card without security can be easily hacked by hackers.. If offline transactions, they may have some accomplices. It is better to pay in cash than to use a card to someone you don't know. When transacting online shopping, you must have to use paypal, alertpay or liberty reserve to protect your debit or credit card account number from exposing them. It is better to be safe than sorry, right?

Yup, be safe than sorry. I have online banking facilities and I check my account regularly. There's nothing amiss at the moment. I called the bank, they confirmed there's no transaction. I prefer to use Paypal, but in India, there are few people accepting Paypal. Off-topic, you might be interested in this discussion I started a few days ago regarding credit card theft. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2597271.aspx

hi zralte I used to order groceries from albertsons via computer and thats what they always did, the paperwork went through online and it did not show my debit balance had changed so I asked and they explained that in case of any error they always waited to debut my account until albertson confirmed shipment. the first time I was sure something was wrong but no payment was received but not yet debited until the groceries were actually loaded into the truck. odd though that your screen show transaction not allowed and yet they were shipping it, some sort of snafu I assume. Hope you soon get your order. good luck and God bless.

Oh Hatley, I've been bad. I completely forgot about my discussions. My apologies to all. I am going to call them tomorrow and get to the bottom of it now. I was waiting to see if they really did send it out. I started thinking that the last person from the company that I talked to might not be aware of the payment thing. Could be a case of 'Lost in Translation'. They could not understand my English and keep on transferring me to another person and the last person was not aware of the payment problem, may be.

It's a busy time with online payments right now. I made a payment for a product online this past day through PayPal. PayPal says it's been charged but my bank account isn't reflecting that as yet. So it's most likely delayed a bit because of all the "busyness". I would think that you've encountered a program glitch or your debit is just delayed or both. In a situation like yours, I'd wait until the middle of the morning before I'd worry too much about it.

I think your best bet would be to call the bank and see if they have made the payment.

Yes, I think that's what I'm going to do. See if they send the item or not, and if I receive it, good. If not, I'll call them up.

They definetly made a mistake. Me personally I would ask to speak to a manager or supervisor and find out whats really going on because if they keep switching you to different phone operators they probably dont really know. They might send it for free because of some kind of error but if you dont want to take the chance of seeing if it might come or not I would keep calling them and find out if they are sure you are getting your shipment, get some kind of proof.

Well, after waiting 4 days, it hasn't arrive yet. So, I'm calling them tomorrow. I think that is what happened too, that is transferring me from one person to another, the last one probably don't know what's happening.

Well, I'd be really worried if the company had charged my account and then said that the transaction did not go through so they would not send the goods. Just check your bank statements to see if they have charged your account, if no, then you are fine but perhaps leave it a couple of week before trying to order again, or if they have charged your account already, check to make sure that they will be sending your goods - if you receive your product then all is well, if not, keep contacting them and show them proof that your account has already been charged. I hope this will help, and that all will go well - good luck!

I just checked my account again and still no transaction. I was hoping I'd have received it by now if they really did send it out that day. I guess they didn't, or may be they used a slow courier. I'll call them tomorrow and find out. Thanks for the advice.

Hi Zralte, How are you doing? Although, I am late almost by three day in suggesting, but still I would insist that you change your debit card PIN and netbanking password as soon as possible. It is also possible that you have received your order till now and the matter has been resolved. If not, after changing both the passwords, "wait and watch" will be the best approach for another two days... I also recharged my sister's mobile phone through Reliance website with my debit card and transaction got failed. However, money was deducted from my account for which I am still making efforts to get it back. Since then, I am a bit reluctant towards online transactions.

Hi nishant, thanks for the great advice. It's never too late. Changing the PIN and Netbanking password never entered my mind. So much for being careful!!!!
