I am the type of person that always trys to look ahead and plan for what is coming. This year I am not going to plan for a year, that just frustrates me when things don't work out like I thought they would. And they never do. So this coming year I am going to plan a month at a time instead. I would like to just live in the present, but truthfully I can't go cold turkey on this so I am just going to look at shorter periods of time.

That's a good idea! You could do 3 months at a time so you could plan some long-range goals like your garden or other project. I'm not really a planner, I always leave things kind of loose and flexible. I make some long range goals at the beginning of the year and do what I can to help them along but I don't sit down and strategize very often.

I appreciate you. We should have some goals and we should work for that. Sometimes it will work and sometimes may not.Wish you a happy new year ahead

It is good to make plans just do not plan the outcome. I've lived a day at a time for many years now. It takes the pressure and stress off by eliminating expectations. I've learned nothing in life as regards plans is black and white, everything is subject to change. New Year's Resolutions are not good for me, and speaks of my inability to hold myself daily to a living standard I should already be practicing. If I'm doing the next right thing, resolutions are meaningless. I celebrate the new year as just the change of time and an opportunity for enjoying family visits.

I have to plan a little in 2012 as I'm thinking of moving but I will try to live from day to day and not push too hard. I'm learning to go with the flow and not against it now. I will know when it is the right time to move forward and away from this life and start the new and completely different one in my future.

I used to plan for things but like you I got too disappointed to many times so I take things one day at a time.

Hi savypat, I wonder where the idea of New Years Resolutions came from anyway? Very few people actually make it through the year, and I think you idea of trying it for one month is a good one. As you say, it would be great to be able to just live in the present, but most of us haven't reached that yet. Happy New Year my friend. Blessings.

I hate making plans because none of my plans ever work out for me at all. I like it day by day. But, unfortunately, there are those things that need to be planned. And I have a few big personal things that I need to take care of this year and I need to plan them carefully.

Know what? For me, it sounds like a good attitude. If we don't plan anything for the next year, then we don't get hurt if things didn't went as plans, right? Well, 2012 for me will be different from the past years of my life. The upcoming will be like a challenge for me. I'm just going with the flow! God bless you savypat and Happy New Year!

You should plan something which we can do. Don't plan anything which we can not attain. Without a planning everything will be in disorder. So a little bit planning is required on every year, every month, every week and everyday. So at the end of the year , month, week or day we can understand where we are.Wish you a happy new year ahead
