favorite things to do while traveling...

When I go to other countries, I usually find something that can remind me of that place like a replica of the street signs of famous roads, snowballs containing their famous landmarks or t-shirts that have their own local language on it. My friend usually want to try the McDonald's at every country she goes to. One of my friend also doesn't leave a place until she has seen a local play or movie at their local theaters. How about you? What things do you do or find that makes your trip complete?

My main goal when I travel is to see as much of the place I'm visiting, including those not popular as tourist spots but still worth visiting. And then of course, I always make it a point to buy a little souvenir. I usually get a ref magnet and a shirt for myself and shirts for my mom and dad. If there's extra cash, then I buy some food from that country too. And oh, if it's McDonald's for your friend, it's KFC for me . Cheers to more travels this year!

I have tried KFC chicken and mashed potato in Singapore and Malaysia but I still like what we have here in the Philippines. It's tastier in my humbler opinion.

@doggydimon-sounds like it's similar to KFC's Chicken Ala King which was only made available a year or 2 ago (not sure though). That's my second favorite, next to chicken!

I ordered something in Kota Kinabalu in KFC a few years back. I think it is a chicken steak or something. I will never forget that because it was very good. The chicken fillet was huge and the gravy sauce was excellent! There are carrots and corn in the gravy sauce even...

I cannot say I have this one particular thing or habit I do when I travel. I just need to experience the place and the people and if I still have something left, that's when I look for souvenirs. But, I have a friend who has been with Starbucks for almost 10 years. And every time she travels, she finds a local SB store and purchases their landmark tumbler. I think it's cute.

I forgot to mention that too. hahaha... My friend is a Starbucks addict. I usually buy a mug with the name and design of the places I visit and give it to her.

I always take lots of pictures, never forget my camera. I love to 'investigate' whatever town it is that I'm going too online, and find things out or places to see, and some of the local history. The tourist attractions are okay, but finding things to do or see off the beaten path is what makes the trip a little more enjoyable. As for buying a souvenir, I collect coffee mugs. I also scrapbook, which I can add any tickets, programs, or maps to my pages.

I like to eat some of the food of the country. I am not interested in a fancy restaurant for tourists, but in a place where people eat everday. I also like to ride in buses and other public transportation.

Traveling is really good activities and it will never loose its passion to do. I don't have special habit as you. I only want to do special activity there such as, eat their local food, take some picture there. My friend always wash his face using the water from all places hi visit, no matter from where it is, it has been his habit to do. He said that it is requirement to do and a proof had visit that place.

It is nice to really taste authentic local cuisine when you are traveling abroad. Sometimes or more often than not, you can find the best ones at the side streets or in the local markets. Now that is one unique way of how he treasures his visits. Nice one... Thanks for the response!

I love to go to historical places and see the greatest sites. I love to eat local foods or nifty restaurants as well. Unlike your friend, I abhor eating at chain restaurants when traveling. I, because of my disability, try to find other disability organizations or groups to hang out with.

I like to look at beautiful looking buildings ans see pretty views from higher places. I am keen on seeing wildlife and taking photos of the animals and bird life. I love to spend time on tropical beaches. I adore snorkeling in such a lovely place. I like to walk along the beaches and coast lines. I am keen on walking in the countryside where there are superb views. I love to see a local play or movie. As I travel with my young kids I like places which appeal to them like Scratch Patch and the penguins in South Africa for example.

I haven't traveled out of the country that often but when I do, I like keeping the airplane ticket stub as a reminder of my trip. I also buy a lot of trinkets but the stub sums up the entire trip for me so I have all of them. Good memories. Happy mylotting.

I collect pop and rock music from around the world and I always buy some cds when I visit another country. Before I leave to try to find some information about the famous singers from the country that I am going to visit and I listen to some of their songs on YouTube, so that I know which names to look for when I visit a music shop in that country. When I visit another country I also like to visit all of the famous places and eat some of the local food from that country. Sometimes I discover some very delicious dishes that I can't buy in my own country.
