Mylot will only work with intelligent people?

Have you noticed that majority of the members here are intelligent and educated? You would know that from the responses which are mostly very impressive. That is why only those who want to discuss and learn from others' views will stay on. I had tried getting referrals but if they are not really into this type of thing, you know, using one's mind to exchange opinions with others, then they will just vanish. I have noticed quite a few members who, after a few discussions, just disappear and are never to be heard. So yes, I like to think that Mylot only attracts thinking members. Do you agree or disagree?

hhaha well i guess i have to disagree?... i'm not really one of those intelligent people. rather i'm a normal ordinary housewife, with nothing much better to do. my education level is not that high too and yes, i have to admit, there are tons of topics here where i don't really understand exactly what it's about as it's not my expertise. but there are areas too where i can get help, or where i can post my own opinions on things i do know about despite my expertise and experience being really small. i guess i'm here for the main reason that i can post my opinions when i want to and there's no schedule or anything. so even common people are here. like many have said, some are here to learn english, some to learn about life, some with school work, some looking for advice. basically people from all walks of life but those interested in earning money fast, they don't stay for long. many anyway.

Great discussion but I don't agree. people of all IQs come, go and stay on here. Some very intelligent people are just not very articulate when it comes to the written word or expressing themselves. I don't think it would be fair to measure a person's intelligence or lack of it by what they type on here. The ones that stay do seem to enjoy exchanging thougts, opinions and ideas more than the ones that don't.

To a point it does but like I said, some people may not come across well because of the language barrier or inability to express their thoughts well. And truthfully, I think the intelligence levels here are quite diverse.

Hi, Sid. Significantly, what we type here comes from what we have between our ears, right?

Hi! You are very right that only those who love mind stirring sessions and thought provoking arguments stay here on mylot. It is not everyone's cup of tea. I am here for many years and I learn many new things from each new discussion and it has broadened my vision.

Wow - are you saying that I am intelligent and educated? Hee hee. I will take that as a compliment - ha ha. For sure the ones that stay on board on myLot are those who have a knack for discussing . . . yes, their minds are thinking all the time, yet they are able to spit it out in writing. We are all willing to communicate - to share and learn - and hey, maybe make a friend or two. I think the ones who naturally enjoy participating stick around . . . anyone who thinks this place is a drag because they don't make their earnings quick enough will fall off myLot.

I am not too sure about that. Sure, everyone in THIS thread is intelligent, but there are also a lot of members coming from places that seem rather lacking in english education or typing skills. :P Personally though, you have to agree that most people here are for the money and not for the networking. Hence, I disagree.

You are probably right but there are other factors why a certain individual leaves and not participate anymore. For instance, there's a sudden change in his/her life, or maybe he/she is not interested or doesn't have time. I also have referrals and none of them are active.

That may be true, but I don't think the real money seekers are here. I know a site that pays way more, but requires higher quality posts and I have cashed out in 2 weeks rather than a few months on here in mylot. There may be many factors but long time earners will always be here for the discussion and not the get rich factor.

Your topic made me smile. I never thought of myself as intelligent :) But I guess you do have a good point here. This is a discussion site and you need a little bit of brains to participate. The lack of it might make a person bored and just stop participating altogether :)

I've noticed as well there's a lot of intelligent people, and also people who want to improve their English as English is usually a second or third language, then there's the rest of us who need a good support community and stay around because of the respect that is expected of us by the admin. I enjoy it because I get a lot of help from mylot members plus it helps me keep my brain active too. I've made some really good friends here, mature people and I appreciate that. A lot of other sites are so rude and are mainly full of immature people who just want one thing only, especially free sites.

I completely disagree. I think not most of mylot members are intelligent people but just an average individual who wants to spend their time online thinking and discussing things that interest them and at the same time earn something as well. Intelligent people are busy in life so they don't have anymore time to chat/post here. It's not because someone is good in english then he/she is intelligent. There are billions of people who are not good in english but have superior IQ.

It is different when you only know English per se and you also have something to say as well. One can know the language very well but may not have ideas about issues in life, and one may have ideas but does not know English, so I think what I mean here are people who know both. Being able to express your thoughts and feelings using the language that we all can understand surely is one good sign of intelligence. I could hardly call someone intelligent if he or she could not express her thoughts and feelings in words.

Quite agree.. We can earn based on quality posts. And quality posts are the result of good English skill and good basic knowledge about something. Not all people are blessed with those two skills. Of course, people with lack of those two should can also manage to stay here if they have strong will. But not all people are willing to learn. So, for everyone who're being able to enjoy myLot to the fullest, you should be really grateful.

Generally, the main population are quite intelligent but we shouldn't disregard everyone else too. There are so many people out there from all walks of life giving Mylot a shot. There are several reasons why people leave, just because they don't seem compatible with Mylot and its members. I had a few friends here who were active all the time and their reputations were very high but then they all disappeared. They just stopped posting and I have never heard of them, maybe they don't want to earn from Mylot anymore as they have found something better. Maybe they're too busy now, we don't know the reason. But I like how Mylot are gaining new members too. We have a very mature crowd here.

This is like my first hour with myLot. As i read through different discussions, I noticed there are some really excellent views and comments. Some are just well let's call it .... average. A good number though are just senseless (sorry for the hasty observation). Perhaps I have probably not stumbled on good discussion threads yet. I am hoping that in time I will find really interesting ones. Then perhaps myLot will become a favorite and rewarding past time. Besides, I yet have to come up with my own discussion. I hope you find time to respond to it. I am thinking about a topic on maybe Politics, HR, Social Responsibility or perhaps a more informal discussion on Servant Leadership or Stewardship maybe. What do you think will be interesting?

Hi there, and welcome to Mylot. Well, different topics attract different types of people. It doesn't matter what comes into your mind. Just throw it in, and you will find out that certain members like certain types of topics. As for me, I respond to topics that also catch my attention, that's all.

I agree with you Cutie... Yes, myLot is not for everyone, I mean, not everyone can be a good myLotter... It takes patience, liking to share thoughts and the ability to express one's thoughts.. I referred 5-6 people.. only one of them is active now. Everyone else vanished without typing a post... LOL... myLot is for those who want to share things, who are not just after money... I am proud to be here... Happy myLotting!!!

I think mylot not only attracts intelligent people from all around the world, it also attracts people who hunger for money at the moment. I was just kidding if you knew what I meant. I have to admit, I am not that much intelligent as I rate myself. I would tell myself in front of the mirror, I simply want to make extra money, so I have to make myself interest in mylot, and do my best to come up some intelligent discussion topics.

Maybe~More people will make more different views and opinion so that we can learn something new but there are few the same as well. I have noticed the same thing as well. Most of the members who come with a short answer or we might say 'nothing' they usually will not stay longer here. Mylot is a place for people who like to share ideas and opinions. Not suitable for those who just want to gossip over rubbish things.(^^)

I think I would have to agree but not completely. There are a lot of people such as myself that don't have a much time as they used to, to get on here and keep up. It's not easy but yes I would have to say that I think everybody on here or mostly everybody is well educated and knows how to keep a decent conversation going. Although as a new member I'm sure I will run into some of those people they haven't a clue as to why they are on here but thats okay we will some them the way if they are willing!!! :D
