Make mistake in english?? don`t worry because we are beginner

i make this discussion especially for my friend, my referral and anymore which english is not our mother language
many of indonesian and maybe from another country is difficult here, because we only must speak in one language, ENGLISH
and it was really big obsctacle.
it make many people become inactive because they feel it`s really hard for only speaking english here
yes, there are google translate, but sometimes it`s not good if we can`t understand the meaning because google translate only translate word by word..
but i believe many mylot member especially from UK and USA understand that our english is not good..but i think it`s not reason that we did not learn english here..
so make this rare chance here become your challenges
Big challenges for you..it`s expensive experiences for you if you can write and read any mylot members discussion here..
so don`t worry if you make mistake here..don`t worry of sometimes there are a little mistake in grammar
maybe like we want to say " iam hungry" but because we don`t know how to differentiated and did not know when we must use tobe(is , am, are) , and wewrite in our discussion "i hungry"..
but it`s okay..if you learn seriously, you will find that your english had a good progress...trust me..

xixixi.. i think.. this discussion is directed at me, because before when i was invited by you to register Mylot, i had time to reluctant to join Mylot because my english is poor.. And you are right, Mylot is good place for me to learn english by discussing with myloters.. :)

welll..i intend for you and for all my referral..
english is the biggest obstacle for my referral for keeping active here..
and i just suggest some of my referral and include me too, if we want learn english, mylot is one of the best here..
we can keep practise our english..
we learn how to reading any english article here
and we must translate as soon as possible in our mind(sometimes newbie use translator software, its okay)
and then we replied back our opinion and make their understand what is our opinion..

It is okay not good in English. As we have to use English in myLot, I assume all members who contribute in the discussions are interested in English. I hope all of us non-English speakers can make an effort to always improve our English. We will try to make less mistake in grammar, sentence and spellings. We can learn from other people's postings. Study their sentence structure. How to present what we want to say in words. Like the example: "I hungry", when we see others using "I am hungry", will we ask ourselves why "I am" is used? Only by questioning then we can learn faster. If we really want to learn a language, it is a matter of time if we put in real efforts.

yes sometimes in real conversation , many of student especially for beginner can`t differentiate when they must use to had and when they must use to do or to be..
what about passive and activie voice..
wow..sometimes if we only learn about grammar, it make us more scare when learning english

I give you high five for the effort friend and you are good! English is not my national language but many people say that people from my country speaks English very well. That's is why many country put a "call center" business here.
My English is not also perfect. Sometimes I laughed when i find out that i write something wrong. And i also need to learn more how to use the "8 part of the speech" hehehehe.
I download wordweb dictionary here and it helps me a lot in spelling and also in the word meaning. My BF is from england and WHEW!!! their english is much more deeper compare to "american english".
People here in mylot are very friendly and i believe that no one will discriminate (need to check 1st the spell hehe) if we did some grammar error:) Practice makes us perfect. I like reading english books and sometimes reading it loud so I can also practice my diction.

:) my dictionary is part of my everyday life that's why i pin it already on my task bar so anytime i need help for word meaning or spelling it will be very easy to access :)
I'm working as a beauty consultant and I'm handling imported brands that is why i normally encountered everyday different clients or lets say different nationality. Yes i had been encountered some australian and they speak so fast.
For me to adopt and easy to understand about my BF's accent i normally watch one of their family sitcom tv program. And it helps me a lot to get at ease on their accent and some deep meaning words. :)

adhyz,the situation is not easy like you said..
i know you had tried maximal with all your effort..but you must understand that english is not easy language for mostly indonesia
check in every english classes since SMP level until SMU level, english subject is one of the fear subject for student..
and thats why many indonesia always come and go here and most of them when they had go out from mylot, it`s not easy for them for coming back again..

in my city too..english is one of the fear subject for some people
i think our teacher especially english teacher must update their way for teaching
it`s not only based curriculum, but maybe they must be inovative when they taught english.
english subject is simple when we make it simple

My friend, we are not here to boast how much we know how to write or speak English. We are here to relate our experiences in life, our opinions and thoughts.
That being so, even with some knowledge of English is already acceptable, as long as the main thought of the discussion was clearly defined.

We should count ourselves 'good' as we can still read, write and speak a foreign language and be understood by the native speakers. Feel proud that people from other countries where English is their mother's tongue are still able to understand what we are trying to convey in our discussions here, should be applauded. I doubt any of the people from English speaking countries can pick a foreign language besides their own mother's tongue. Any grammatical errors or 'half-cooked' English from non English speaking countries should be excusable.

we admit that we had always make mistake..but with the understand from many of native speaker, it will increase our confident when we communicate with them..

hi adhyz82 as I love mylot just because I get to talk to you and others in Indonesia and other countries, I do not have any trouble
reading what you have posted. I just applaud all of you who have
English as your second language as English is a hard language to learn.
its made up of words from all over the world. I think you all do a fantastic job as you are trying and with each time you try you all seem to get better and better too. I do just hope we all who have English as our mother tongue do treat all of you kindly and with welcome and not belittling any mistakes at all.
The admins asks us not to criticize those from other countries. they want you to feel welcome here . I think most of us here do agree to that too. I know I appreciate all the tries and all the successes you all finally have. I know I am awful at trying to learn other languages myself.You will learn a lot just coming here and posting and I know I applaud you all for your efforts. WE can understand you and thats really all that counts is for us to udserstand each other after all.

I did not expect, that your friends which english native speaker appreciaten our effort and understand that sometimes there are still many shortcomings in our writing here
of course we must learn and learn to reduce the error rate in writing ..
I also continue to bring my friends from the same country(indonesia), to not be afraid to write articles in English and I think only in Mylot, we can get the greatest opportunity not only learn to write English text, but can also increase the level of confidence in writing articles in English or understand english text

hi may even some English speakers also get confused on behind
or back. Behind is sometimes used for something in back of
mne like she stood behind me. but since we can also'
use behind like I got behind in my lessons in Eng. 200
so I can see the confusion. Back is more like looking back
I realized I had not been too kind. Yet we also will say
I went back home yesterday for the first time in ages. yes
I can see our English is a confusing language indeed.

You have said what I often want to say .English is not my first language and not what I major in,so You can well imagine here on mylot what I have gone through.Make a long story short,all I have to do here is that in the first I need to translate the discussions and responses in English into Chinese.However,easier said than done,Mylotters come from all over the world.In their discussions and responses, there are English as spoken in Australia ,English as spoken in India ,etc.much more so many slangs that can be seen frequently.Second,I need to translate the Chinese into English,in other words,I must know how to make myself understood in English and avoid using broken English.In this respect,I often make a fool of myself.However,I hang in and believe that practice makes perfect.

wow, it just happened that I had been lurking around before my eyes stumbled on this discussion. hahaha yeah it's nice. my English is not good. and I agree people here, well most of them, dont mind our bad grammar-ed English. hehehe. the most interesting thing here that as my predecessor said that we learn here more we earn more. well I dont know if my English have been better since the time I joined myLot but the only thing I know, I practice it. well, that;s nice. all heal for ya all! success for us. the power of we. ahahah.... was this for me ? I know my English is not good. But I have been learning lots here. I am trying to do my best so people will understand my intention. I am glad that mylot is for anyone and mylot doesn't mind with our poor English. Such a good teacher, isn't it ? I will keep learning to improve my English here, the more I do, the more I earn :D and the more I learn :)

i dont think this discussion refer one person..i don`t do like that..
same like you, my english is not good too..but i believe with always practising, my english maybe will be better...
and i remember how my english teacher in course said that i always had to get many friends for making conversation for keeping our english ...
and mylot is great solution for me..i always communicate with anybody else with english,and i still share my opinion or respond another people discussion with english and it makes me always practise my english

my dear friend reading, writing and learning english is not a big deal, we can easily cope up with it, but talking sense in english is very important, specially we need to improve some grammatic errors we make while talking and writing. I think its very important

If your friend really wants to learn or improve their English, then I would suggest reading a lot of books. I always attribute how I am able to speak and write English with my love for books. I started reading at an early age and the books that were introduced to me were written in English. Plus, I was exposed to Sesame Street and I love the way they teach kids to read and write. Especially the ones where they would teach how to pronounce words phonetically. Like the word "cup". They would start making the C sound then UP. Faster and faster until the two sounds become CUP.
As for grammar, well it also came from reading books. My mother had this grammar book that if I am not mistaken came from the US. It is a grammar book for elementary kids I think and it had all the rules plus a lot of exercises. So, I was given a lot of practice with this book. I cannot say that my English is excellent. Maybe passable but if one really wants to excel in something as with anything, then we study it, practice it and then use it in our daily lives.

since junior high school, i always like for opening my dictionary and always remember one by one vocabulary
i think it was good things for me, when i join the course of english and it will faster me understand about the material..and of course the course provide a little different approach from my formal school..

Yes, u are correct. Do not be afraid to make mistakes because we all do. Nobody is perfect in this world unless we are really nobody. Mistakes are ways for us to learn and without mistakes, how do we know what are the rights and wrongs. It's especially for english because there are so many different ways of phrasing, when it comes to people of different nationality. It doesn't matter if we use it rightly, so long we get the message through, right?

Hi there, I don't think the grammar is a big deal here. I'm not good in english either, but i still do my best to at least make it good or if not good, at least correct. I noticed that mylotters don't really care whether you are good in english or not, they are very nice people and they welcome new comers. Mylot considers the content of your discussions or comments rather than the technicalities of your English. What matters here is the content and not how good your grammar is. I hope people who are not so good in english won't be afraid to join mylot, because believe me, after joining mylot their not so good english will be better. :)
