Hi Mylotters, Really need your opinions on this situation I'm having right now. I'm 27 years old now, have been working for 3 years after graduated from a university. Somehow, I feel like going on to pursuit another degree, maybe Law, Social Science or Linguistic. Yet, I feel like I'm kinda old if I'm going on study. When I look around me, many of my friends have been working, getting married and start their own family. I'm so confused, and I'm thinking "am I really too old to do another degree?" Kindly help me with some opinions. Thanks!

If you are going back at age 27 you need to consider a few things. 1. Will my degree further my goals for my life? 2. What will the cost be in lost wages and school expenses? 3 Will I be able to find a job when I graduate? 4. What will the income from my new position be and will it be worth it financially for me? 5. Will your present employer help with the cost part time and let you keep your job? Many companies will help you with the cost if it will improve your job performance or your value to the company. To answer these questions you will have to do a lot of research and soul searching. I went back to Graduate School full time at age 29 to get my first Masters Degree. I then went back 6 years later, on a part time basis, to earn a Professional Certificate. I completed my second Masters Degree, working full time and going to school part time, and second Professional Certificate at age 47. I was able to do with the support of my wife and four children. It can be done but it is stressful and difficult. You and those very important to you (the ones affected by the decision) need to consider all the factors and then make your decision based on what is best for you and maybe your important people in your life.

Here we have a saying: We keep on studying even if we grow old. It is very good for you to study any time. It will be good for your career. And your life will be meaningful since the time doesn't pass by in vain. You take advantage of your time to do something beneficial. I totally agree with you. Besides, 27 years old is young:) I love China

I don't think that age is too old to go back to school and get another degree. Good for you for wanting to go back! I already graduated with a Bachelor and am very excited about finally receiving my degree and I'm 23, I've already started applying for graduate schools already. While taking my undergrad courses I took a math class once and this lady was just starting to get her undergraduate degree. This lady was probably more than fifty years old and this really amazed me. So it's never to old to start or to continue learning. I think you should just go with your gut instincts and just do it. Good luck and Happy Mylotting!

If you really want to get a new degree, then GO FOR IT! It's never too late for anything. I'm 27 yrs old too and I'm taking language classes as well as dance classes. And I'm miles away from worrying about getting a boyfriend and having my own family. And I'm a girl. ^_^ (Like, they said, girls should worry more.) Your life shouldn't be dictating by what the people around you are doing with their lives. It is totally okay to lead your life the way you want it to be. So, what are you waiting for? :))

Hello Lucas, There is no age limit for further studies so don't feel that you are old enough to go for further studies. If you feel that you should study then go for studies. You can do it correspondence along with the job as many of the professionals do.

Actually, 27 isn't old especially when getting a second degree or a post-graduate degree. It's actually ideal since you could apply the knowledge you gained while working. There are actually master's programs that require that you have work experience like an MBA for example. If you're decided on pursuing another degree, this is the right time. The more you age, the more difficult it would be. Although there are those who got a degree who are way older than you :)

No, you're not too old. When I was in college most of my classmates were old enough, they were 27-34 years of age. Age is not a hindrance to continue your studies. There are also some people who started to study at the age 30 and up, they're the one who were unfortunate enough to be sent into school during their childhood days.

Education is a life long process. At 27 years of age i don't think you are old to pursue a degree if you think you want to further your education. see in life what matters is what you feel is good for you not what other people are doing.so go ahead take another degree in a matter of few years you are through with it and will have more advantage for a better job than those your mates.

I think it's okay for you to take a new degree. There's nothing wrong with that. IN fact it will also benefit you.

I think is not a problem for you to take degree at this age. We must continue learning and learning until old. So i dont think that taking another degree at age 27 is a problem. If you really want to further study, just go ahead. Dont compare with other people, just do what ever you like, and do whatever that could make you happy.
