If a restaurant gets your order wrong do you complain?

order - ordering food

I do most of the time because I am a paying customer and want what I ordered. I don't make a big scene or anything but I do ask for then to take it back and give me what I ordered. But sometimes if the mistake isn't that bad and the food is good i'll just eat it, just as long as they don't over charge me.

I do the same every time when my order is not exactly what i ordered. There is not a big deal about small mistake, and I am never impolite or rude to waitress, there is no need. We are just a human, we do mistakes. Everyone does. There can be a problem if they overcharge m, in that case I would complain in polite way.

I say something, because if my order is wrong, then it isn't the way I like it. I'm not gonna eat something I don't like. It's happened to me and I make a point to have it corrected.I'm the customer and paying for the food.

Actually it all depends. If they completely messed up my order I will surely get angry. But if it is something minor I will just let it go.

I have worked in a restaurant as a waitress. I sometimes took the wrong order and we usually change it back to the correct one and leave the wrong one for the next order if someone ordered that within a short period of time so as not to waste any food. However, it is sometimes quite annoying when people keep changing their mind or they just deny what they have ordered and require for a new one while everyone else are sure that the order is correct.

I will politely but assertively tell them that that is NOT what I have ordered. They have two choices; either get me my order, and I will pay for it, or I will eat the food they have brought me, and they will not charge me for it, because that was NOT what I have ordered.

When eating out,You are entitled to get whatever it was that you ordered the way you ordered it..any restaurant should deal with that with no issues. Some people just don't like to make a fuss if something's not right with their meal, just taking what's given to them..that's not right either..if it's just you and a few of your family,(about 4 people),staff shouldn't have problems getting an order right or positioned correctly so they don't have to ask who's having what when they bring the food..the person taking the order may work using a restaurant system that identifies the first customer at the table as #1,then goes around the table clockwise until every numbered customer has ordered. that way, with staff looking at the order in the kitchen, the food should come out and go to the correct person. The system can adapt to larger tables, say a family gathering. If this system is followed correctly, the food coming out should always go to the right person. It falls down when people move around the table to talk to others during the meal,or inexperienced staff bring out the food, forget the system, and resort to asking people what they're having, which can confuse things when someone just takes a steak that's available rather than the one they ordered, which has a knock on effect. Also, inexperienced staff can get the table numbers wrong..it shouldn't happen, but be aware! make sure everyone's order is correct before digging in to save yourself complaining about getting someone else's order by mistake!

I think it all depends on how badly the order was messed up. When I order from fast food places I always have to make sure that they don't mess my order up. I do not like sliced cheese and I always order burgers/sandwiches without cheese. It almost always happens that they put the cheese on anyway. Normally I check the order before bringing it home. We always use the drive thru and I always wait at the window to check the order. A pain for anyone behind me but I want to make sure my order is right.

I will only because of the fact that if I order something a certain way or I order something to be withheld from the plate, I won't eat it if that item is on the plate because of the fact that there are some things that I just don't like to eat. I never ask them to not charge me for the meal, however, I just want to have my food prepared the right way.

having been a waitress all my life, I must say this...If you get the wrong order, by all means, let them know! You are paying a pretty good markup on the food, and you should get exactly what you want. In fact, that should be every restaurant's main goal! HOWEVER!!!! Please make sure you know who's mistake it is, first. If the waitress took your order wrong, she should not hesitate to correct it. Maybe she is new, and pointing things like this out to her in a nice way will help her in the long run. On the other hand, the server isn't cooking your food. So if you order a med-rare steak, and get a well-done piece of charcoal, ask to see the kitchen manager and let them know that YOU know it was the kitchen's mistake. All too often, we (servers) are left to deal with angry diners and our tips suffer. (when was the last time a cook or kitchen manager came out to you and said "I burned your dinner...it was my mistake"...Most likely never). One more little bit of trivia for you...did you know that rest. servers only make $2.63 an hour? YUP! That is the hourly rate in the USA. After taxes our paychecks are usually $0.00. We really, really do depend on your tips...we work hard every shift. Want to hear another little known fact? At the end of the night, the $2.63/hr servers have to TIP OUT the $5.00+/hr bartenders, the $8.00/hr busboys and the $10.+/hr hostesses. Anyone who thinks it takes no guts or brawn to be a server...has never been a server!

Of course i will complain it.Wrong order, would mean to me that they are so careless with their job.U know what? Customers are always right...So they will see to it that what they are doing to their customers, are all correct. If they did wrong ,then customers will no longer come back to their restaurant....

It's really not complaining but asking for what you've ordered. You ask for that specific food because you want it. I think it's their responsibility to give you exactly what you ordered.

I will complain if I'm given the wrong meal because I'm paying for what I ordered, not for someone to make a mistake. This is where tipping comes in, if the service is exceptionally good I'll tip, if it's anything less than exceptionally good I wont and if it's below average I won't use that restaurant again. As for being given the wrong meal, if a waiter can't take an order and deliver the right meal he's obviously not cut out for the job.

In fact I think I am a nice person most of the time. But if a restaurant brings me the wrong dish, I will tell them to change it and bring what I ordered. Since I may not like the wrong dish. Or the price is much more expensive. And I don't want to pay for what I didn't order. I love China

most definitly! if the waitress gives me a hard time, i will go to the manager. if i don't get the results that i want, i'll go to the website and complain to corporate. sometimes i don't get the results that i'm looking for but i let people know where not to go, especially if it concerns bad service.

Regardless if the mistake was big or small, I make it a point to let the waiter know about it and usually have my order replaced. I don't really get that upset about these matters. What does irk me a bit is how they react when I point out their mistake. There are still waiters who act rude and seemed to resent it when you tell them they got your order wrong.

Yes of course, it is my basic right as a customer. Actually, before I chose what restaurant to eat, I consider first what I want to eat. So the minute I step in a restaurant, I am expecting to be serve the food that I want to eat. If the food is not available, they should asked me first before they decide to replace it. But making a big scene out of this situation is a big no for me. I will inform them that if they could not serve what I've ordered, then I'll just go to another restaurant.

Hi there, for me, if i am in a hungry situation, i will just eat whatever they serve to me. If i am not in hungry, i will just ask them to take it back and serve what i order from them. But i wont make complain on them, just tell them politely.
