When Was The Last Time You Holidayed Abroad? Planning On Doing So Again? When?

Let's see...the last time we holidayed abroad was to get married in Las Vegas in April 2008. We had been before to celebrate the New Year of 2006 and we got engaged then too, so it was a natural thing for us to go back there. Couldn't afford to get married now so it's a good job we decided on that particular year..2008. Not been anywhere significant since then..not abroad anyway. We've been to London on a football trip but that's not the same as going "on our own" so to speak. I also visit Mum of course but I'd love it if we could have one last holiday abroad as neither of us are getting any younger! I do miss travelling abroad BUT I don't like all the security checks that happen nowadays, even though I realise they are necessary for the safety of everyone. One thing's for sure though; I shall never go on a Cruise Ship and that has always been my mindset, even before the Costa Concordia accident.

Last summer. I went to several different small Greek islands. It was really a great vacation with my friends. The weather is hot, it's not too crowded like known tourist spots and the nature is beautiful there. This summer I'm going abroad again. This time I'm going to travel through the South of Portugal where I'm going to kayak, surf and do other watersports. I'm going with an organisation that offers group trips for people my age, so it's also going to be a great opportunity to meet new people.

The nearest I've got to something like that is a Residential in the Lake District in the 1980s. Stayed in a Youth Hostel and went out walking, etc. The Midnight Walk and subsequent rowing on the lake didn't go down too well though, especially since it was in JANUARY! All good fun!

Totally agreed. The first time I did this kind of trip was when I was 14 I think. Since then I've done something similar almost every year (though not always necessarily abroad).

One the best things about travel is meeting new people. I've done kayaking and diving trips as well. The people on that kind of adventure are usually relaxed and friendly and you have some common experiences to talk about at the end of the day.

Wow, you are so lucky to have traveled to Las Vegas and London! Those places would remain a dream to me. You see, I am just a simple employee here in our third world country and I have even yet to get to our neighboring Asian countries. It is sad but I guess that is just how life is. I mean, if I get lucky I would also love to go to Vegas and London! In fact, I would love to travel the world! Oh, good thing we have the internet. Looking at the pictures around is also like being there

Me too~ Having the internet is an advantage for those who can't afford to have their vacation abroad. It's all in your fingertips but the real experience will be better~ I hope someday I could travel abroad with my family!!!(^^)

Oh yeah, of course I would love to travel in real life too! I would need to have extra savings for that! I hope I could travel the world while I can still walk without holding a cane!

My last holiday abroad was with my older son in 2005. My parents lived in Ghana, Africa at the time and I visited them. This was before my younger son was born. Since I had the younger one, I've been way too busy and haven't really had the time to vacation abroad. We wanted to go this year but then my older son's passport has expired and we never got one made for the younger one. With my husband travelling, I haven't got his signature on the forms and his passport needs to be re-newed first. Oh well! Maybe next year!

My passport has my maiden name too. I got my husband's name added when I had my passport renewed a couple of years after I was married. I still go by my maiden name since my husband is too lazy to get the paperwork done to get it changed. No issues though since his name is added to my passport.I use my passport for all sorts of ID.

My passport has my maiden name on it so would have to be renewed even if the 10 years weren't up (which they are) and I believe they are very expensive now..although the desire to go abroad would drown out my moaning at having to fork out such a lot for the passport.

In January and February 2011 I traveled with my disabled son and my daughter to Colombia's Caribbean coast. He was three years old and she was one year old. The trip before then had been in June and July 2010 to Vancouver. In Canada my daughter had her first birthday and I had my birthday there too. Our next trip is in March and April 2012 to Argentina and Chile. We are leaving in just three weeks time. I can't wait and it will be excellent. The security checks and not being allowed water are annoying. I know a cruise ship sinking happens rarely just like a plane crash. I adore traveling to different countries in the world. It is lovely you got married in Las Vegas in April 2008.

It WAS lovely, thank you. Never regretted making that decision..and no Elvis in sight lol. Is it true that you're visiting a fellow MyLotter in Argentina? She mentioned your name a while back and if it's true you're meeting her, I think it's awesome. I wish I was coming! Enjoy your trip, you deserve it!

The last holiday I had was in New Zealand and Australia in the year 2005. I had to put a hold on my future holiday plans on account of the accident I had in 2006. I have always taken package holidays where the tour conductors rule the roost which may not quite suit me now as we have to be always on the go and that kind of rush is a no no for me at the moment. I have taken several foreign holidays prior to 2005 which began way back in 1984 - Singapore, Bangkok, Patayya, Nepal, European countries, North, South, East, West of US, Canada, A cruise in the Bahamas organised by Royal Caribbeans and ofcourse quite a bit of India.

Strangely enough I have never been outside the United States. I would have liked to go to London. I remember my aunt went to England some years back and she loved it. She also went to Alaska, but that is american. I always wanted to go to Australia. And believe it or not, I have never been to the west cost on America either. And being a true New Yorker, I have never been to the Statue of Liberty either. But the one place I always want to visit was the top of the world trade center, but never got the chance. Now I never will. I am not a traveler really.

Well, first off, New York State is a large state. But New York City is not as large. But most New Yorkers never do what visitors do. I don't know if they are going to call it the world trade center or not. I think they are calling the new building the Freedom Tower. I forgot exactly what part she went to. I would have to ask. She did not go because of family history. Boston is not that far from New York. From the city here it's about a five hour drive to boston and like and hour flight.

Twice a year! I usually go abroad on holiday with my sister every year. This year we are off to Poland which is a bit of a departure for us as we have not been to Eastern Europe before. I also usually go to America every year to visit a friend over there in Oklahoma. But thats getting more and more expensive with all the so called "green" taxes that they keep piling on to the air passengers. I still manage to find the money though to make the trip.

I'd love to travel abroad but my pets keep me well grounded. I do love them but that doesn't stop me wishing I could travel. I think I'll stay right here though because of all the hassles like security. I'd be a bit paranoid I think worrying about terrorists at airports and stuff like that. Even though my sister travels abroad quite a lot it would still bother me. Besides, I have no one to travel with, I simply would not enjoy myself if I were on my own.

Yes, when we used to travel a lot we didn't have a cat then. I don't think we could stay somewhere for a week because I'd be worrying about my cat. No doubt hubby would have his parents come round to feed and change the letter tray instead of her going into a cattery but I'd still worry all the same.

Wow, it's a long long time ago but I can't forget being there. Big ben, Marbel Arch, Picadilly Circus, Hyde Park and a lot more still exist in my memory. I am very sure I will be able to go there again. I am sure God hears this.

Yes, London is amazing BUT don't go this year because the Olympics coming up will swell the numbers by a couple of million and the prices go up too..so next year would be better I reckon if you want to avoid the crowds..or the middle of winter. I'm sure God will hear your prayers one day..and mine too I hope.

My last vacation was to Las Vegas, last summer (summer of 2011), which was fun. Very hot though - over 100 degrees every day. I got a pretty good tan, anyway. . It was fun walking on the strip and downtown/Fremont Street. That was my big trip of last year. The year before, 2010, I went to visit my sister who was studying in Sweden. THAT was a crazy, once in a lifetime experience. I want to go somewhere COOL this year -but I can't think of where (or better yet, where I'd get the money from). LOL! Happy MyLotting!

We've never been to Las Vegas during the summer-time but I do know that it's very hot, like you said. Cold at night too due to it being in the desert lol. Which hotel did you stay in if you don't mind me asking? They're still building new ones which is amazing considering the downturn, although they're trying to move away from the gambling side of things. The complex (that was just being started in 2008) across the road from the Planet Hollywood is a case in point and is doing very well, from what I can gather. I miss the webcam at the Planet Hollywood as I used to like people-watching at a place I've actually been to. I don't really know why it's not online anymore. In fact, there aren't many webcams in Vegas, thinking about it. They're missing a trick there the tourist board! Sweden is supposed to be one of the best countries in Europe to live. No idea if it's true but I'd love to visit the place one day.

In 2007, the hubby and I spent a month traveling in Egypt. Since then we have had a little girl who sucks up any spare money we have. We are slowly (VERY VERY VERY slowly) saving up to go to Italy. I think I have it figured out that we will be able to go for our tenth wedding anniversay in 2 years provided nothing major changes. I am working on all of my online earning sites, and was just able to cash out $75 to my paypal account from one of my sites. I should be cashing out about $12 when mylot pays on the 15th of March. I am also getting some extra duty pay, about $30 a week for the next 10 weeks so that will be a little chunk of change to put aside.

When I was younger I spent more time abroad than I did at home, at least it seemed that way! Then I got married and became a stay at home mom so money got very tight. Now our daughter is getting bigger and we're starting to get away more. Our next trip abroad will happen in March. "Abroad" seems to imply that the trip should be to somewhere far away from home. Our March trip is simply across the border into Montana, USA where we'll go snowmobiling with friends. However, I'm in the process of getting a home based travel agency up and running so I expect there will be a lot more overseas travel in our future!

It seems like forever since I have traveled abroad. If we are talking in country and just very far away, well, that has been about 7 years ago. If you are talking about out of country..only once and that has been closer to 10. I was actually hoping to go somewhere nice on vacation this year but with the price of gas looming over our heads to be higher than it has ever been, I'm not sure that I will. I love to travel and would love to go..I might even chance a short cruise..LOL. My b/f has a thing about flying but I think it's just a little thing and if it were someplace he really wanted to go, I think he would do it. Maybe it will work out for me this summer and I will get to travel abroad some. There are a million places I would love to see.

Same 'ere! My Dad is scared of flying (in fact, I think many blokes are but won't admit it) but he did overcome his fear and has travelled abroad with Mum a few times. Unfortunately, he didn't fly to Las Vegas with us which is a bit of a sore point with me but at least my nephew Tom came in his place (and he's travelled abroad with his Nana and me before) so he made up for my Dad's absence. Believe me, your boyfriend is missing out on sooo much with this fear of flying but - like you said, if it's somewhere you both really want to visit then that will over-ride any doubts he may have, I'm sure. I hope you get away eventually. You're still young so I'm sure it will happen one day.

I have been on 9 cruises and would never turn one down at all. They are huge and its like a moving mall with broadway shows and comedian shows and music groups abroad ships. OMG they are so much fun and there are always something to do. People singing karoke and even playing bingo in a huge room or jsut going clubbing at night in one of the many clubs abroad the ship. Now i even have done ice skating on a cruise. WOW cant believe you wouldnt ever want to do that its just to many different things to do and so much to have fun with but then again its your opinion and not mine. I wont be going on a cruise this year since im trying to do other things with my life like paying off bills, gettting a house and then just living my life without my parents. I went last year to a couple different states and got to see some intresting things and now i also went on a cruise last year so im done for a while i think.

It's amazing how many people are "into" Cruises but I'm not into them at all. People everywhere. Are there areas where you can escape to? I couldn't stand a captive audience like that to be honest. Also, my in-laws have been on Cruises and they're just as miserable (if the pics are anything to go by) as when they're at home so I reckon their glum faces must be putting me off!

The last time that I left Australia was in 1997/98 when I left for six months. Technically I left Australia in 2010 when I went to Norfolk Island in the South Pacific, but as it is an external territory of Australia, some might debate that it is really not leaving the country! In 12 days time though, we are headed over to the USA for three weeks. We will be mostly in California, but will be briefly visiting Nevada and Arizona as well. We are all looking forward to it....should be awesome! We will have to buy some clothes when we get there though as we have no clothes that are suitable for really cold weather!

I can tell you're excited about you upcoming trip(s). Good for you! It's great when there is something to look forward to, especially when it involves travelling. Good job you're not coming to the UK as even us locals don't know what to wear from one day to the next. No heating on at the moment because it's so mild. Next week it could be freezing again, who knows? In Nevada are you visiting Las Vegas or not? I can recommend the Planet Hollywood for somewhere to stay. Also, we've been to the Luxor and that's been done up since we last went there. There is a development across the road from the Planet Hollywood that has since been completed. Amongst them is the Aria (I think that's what it's called) and all 3 hotels in the new complex are supposed to be awesome..and no casino in sight! Shame! Haha!

I haven"t been abroad as yet,i plan on a trip abroad as soon as i can accumulate enough money.I feel we have to put up with small hindrances like security checks if we are to fulfill our desire to see great places overseas.I like the travel duration to be shorter, hence i prefer to take the plane over a cruise. There are many places I wish to see but paucity of finances are a hindrance.

Yes, even the UK (small) has lots of places I want to visit so it makes sense to try those although the weather tends to be poor plus there are so many people wanting to do the same thing. In other words, it's overcrowded, especially in popular cities like London and York. Doesn't stop me from wanting to go though. We have been to York before but it was ages ago.

my last few trips included london and vegas too, as well as denver and dallas. problem is they have always been in the off seasons which means not great weather. was never a big deal and all the trips were awesome, but the next one has to be perfect weather, Hawaii or Florida maybe. security doesn't bother me, just get there extra early and bring a book.

Haha! Good advice, I shall try to remember that if there is ever a "next time." I actually preferred the cooler weather the first time we were in Vegas as it was between Christmas and New Year. The second time was in April (but not the same year) and the air-conditioning in hotels wreaked havoc with my lips..so dry. Good job I found some lip-balm to purchase there as it's something I don't normally suffer from. I hope you fulfill your wish in travelling to Hawaii or Florida. How about both? I guess they're too far away from each other to be feasible? I really should brush up on US States!!!
