I have told my friends here how I had invited some friends for a diner with spaguetti with a chicken and tomato sauce as main dish. The diner was a success and my friends had never tried that particular way or preparing a sauce for spaguetti. We use red meat a lot, but lately I am trying to cut out on red meat and use chicken instead. Have you ever tried a tomato sauce for spaguetti with chicken pieces included? Share your opinions!

I like to eat spaghetti with a bolognese sauce, which is a tomato sauce with beef meat broth, garlic and onions -- it is not the academic recipe, but I like it like this --. I know that you can prepare chicken with a bolognese sauce, but I have never tried : I am not fond of white meat, and I will consider to eat chicken more often only if I have to go on a diet.

You would eat chicken that way if I prepared it for you whether you were on a diet or not.
And you would LIKE it!

I love spaghetti and I also prefer to stay away from red meat most of the time. I can't say that I have actually put pieces of chicken into sauces yet, but I have sometimes used ground chicken or turkey instead of ground beef. Most of the time recently I didn't use any meat, but that was mostly because I couldn't afford meat at the time. Now I don't do much cooking. Reading this post made me realize how hungry I am right now and my doctor told me I couldn't eat tonight because of the problems I have been having this past week. I will post about it later. Have a great week!!!

I fried the salted chicken pieces to seal them and then fried some diced onion, a crushed clove of garlic with a couple of bay leaved. There I added the chicken, some tomato sauce and half a can of peeled tomatoes (diced). I stirred it, covered and let it simmer. End of the story. It seems I made too much sauce so I froze it. I like that sauce with white rice too. Other times I use it to sort of fry eggs there. They taste awesome and you don´t use so much fat.
I guess it can be done in your crockpot too.

I will keep that in mind for when I get home. They are kicking me out of the hospital today so that I don't pick up another infection I guess. Have a great week!!!

I´m glad you´re out, Deb. Sometimes I feel that our hospital stays are in a way like being in prison, only we are innocent

Hi julyteen,
In my country it´s cheaper to use chicken than to use hotdogs (if they are f a good quality). I buy whole chicken somethimes and that´s even cheaper. I prefer that when I make roasted chicken or when I make awesome vegetable soups with the carcass.

I have made it with chicken, and it is really good.
I don't know why, but when I cook the sauce with chicken I usually put it over whole wheat egg noodles rather than regular spaghetti noodles. I guess it is because the chicken pieces are usually larger than the turkey burger and sausage chunks in the regular spaghetti, so they just seem to go better with the wider noodles, although I never really gave it much thought until now.

I use boneless chicken. I cut it into bite-sized pieces, and I sear it in olive oil, garlic and other spices before adding it to the sauce. I also sweat some raw vegetables in olive oil and spices and add them to the sauce. Then, I let the sauce simmer for a couple of hours and cool for a while before heating it up again - for some reason it seems to taste better this way than just simmering for a couple of hours and then serving it right away.

I know. I made the sauce for my friends the day before and let it stand. Besides, that´s woderful for the cook too
. I wasn´t that tired at night even though I had to do a lot of errands that day.

Thank you for the honor of best response.
I am glad that you had a wonderful party and got to enjoy it without being too tired ... that is definitely the best thing for the chef/hostess.
After this discussion, I tried pork chops this way, and that is delicious as well. We also got some home-made linguica, and I put that in spaghetti sauce with a bunch of vegetables and served it over spaghetti squash, and that turned out fantastic, too. Now I am starving, so I will have to go raid the refrigerator and see what yummy leftovers are in there - lol!

I have not tried making or even having any spaghetti with chicken instead of meat. Its always been ground meat or meatballs. Im not sure how chicken would taste with pasta, though. Especially, red sauce.

I like it very much and so does my family. You can try it once. For me it is far better than meatballs. And as for red meat, I often use a big chunk of meat and cook it with diced onions, garlic and other spices before putting the tomato.

Yes I already tried it but ground chicken instead of ground pork or beef. I tried tuna too and it's delicious.

I did once, but actually, I didn´t like that much, I prefer the red meat, to be true. Yet, sometimes, I prefer my pasta only with vegetables and spices sauce, this way is lighter.

Awesome! That is good to hear! Spaghetti of any kind is generally good in my book.
. I do not eat meat period, though, so I can't say I've ever tried that recipe before. It sounds interesting though, maybe a nice change of pace from meat balls or ground meat or whatever people normally use.

If you are vegetarian, you can make a good tomato sauce with mushrooms. I make it like that many times.I don´t like meat balls because they feel dry.

I´m sorry I didn´t answer you before. The sauce I made with chicken and tomatoes may be placed with white ribe or even mashed potatoes, if you prefer that. I like it better with pasta, but I think any chicken based sauce can be used in many ways.

My favorite dish after the pizza is Spaghetti. And I must say that I eat a huge amount. The sauce that I prefer to make spaghetti. is the tomato sauce. I do not like to dress with sophisticated sauces too. Then I being purely Genovese, I can not refrain from eating them, and our legendary seasoned with pesto, typical of my land. In all ways, I never give up eating a nice plate of spaghetti, if I give up, do not call myself a good taste

I love pesto and grow my own basil for that purpose. My grandchildren grew up loving the spaguetti with pesto and a good reggianito cheese.
