I've heard from friends who visited there that it is quite beautiful. And economically, it is also progressing well as a developing country. It has now become one of Asian countries which attract a number of tourism as well. Will it be a problem for visitors if they do not speak local language there? I'd imagine English can still be used to communicate especially in big cities or tourist areas, right?

I always wanted to visit Vietnam for some reason so now I'm slightly envious of you but there is no bad feeling behind it.I'm from Bulgaria,a small country in the Balkan Peninsula and in my country we have a tale about how every country went to God for a piece of land but there wasn't one left for Bulgaria so God took the piece of Heaven the devil had stolen and gave to Bulgaria.I loved that tale when I was little but now I'm not even sure it's true anymore. We have seas and mountains but people keep polluting the environment and building hotels and destroying our beautiful nature and it makes me extremely sad. But,back on topic, yes,I love my country and I'm going to build my future in it.

That is good. I hope that people in my country can do the same to decrease pollution. In Summer, students in my country help people to decrease pollution and help them more and more. LOL
• Vietnam
23 Apr 12
Yes, in my country, they make pollution environment too. Before that, we have large area forest, and many animals, but now, our area forest dicrease and animals were killed.
• Bulgaria
26 Apr 12
The exact same thing is happening to me but now we have this cool campaign where celebrities and media ask the people for help to decrease pollution and they even chose a date in which everyone decided to help clean the forest and the streets. I think it's a really great idea and I'm definitely supporting it and I hope people in your country take some good measures too to decrease the pollution and make your country a better place.

You may change your opinion the more you know about it. I also thought so when I was younger than today. I love my country but not the people. I think it happens everywhere. Most leaders think only of themselves. In developing countries we find there are so many poor people.

Hi there. My country is Philippines. I am not really sure what to compare it to other country since I haven't been to any other country yet. My father had stayed in Australia and Japan already and he said that life is better in other country. That is why they decided to migrate to Canada. But maybe they could say that only because those place were still new to them. Though there are a lot of differences from both country still they decided that after their retirement their they will have to go back to the Philippines and spend their old days here since they said "nothing feels like home"...

Vietnam is absolutely beautiful country! I was there during the Vietnam war but I was a field medic. I remember watching the villagers picking the rice. I was only 18 when i was there. I would love to see how it has turned into the green it now is lush and beautiful than during the war. There is a cruise that goes there maybe someday I can come back and visit your country.

Each country if facing many problems. I don't feel any connection or special feelings for the country I was born (the Netherlands) and live in. I lived in other countries as well, been visiting them, been there for longer. There are countries/life styles/people I like way more. To me home is where I make it, it has nothing to do with "roots" being born or used to the habits. Perhaps because both of my parents are not dutch? Perhaps there are so many foreigners living in my country? Perhaps because I am just a restless soul and love to travel around?

Yes your country was once featured in our local TV channel and it is very beautiful and worth visiting for. I have also learned how your country survived from the ravage of war and now becomes blooming because of the people and government's unity and perseverance. Hope someday I can take a vacation there.
