12/21/2012 end of the world. TIME ZONE?

United States

I am surprised no one has really thought about this. Ok if the mayans are right with the end of the world on December 21st 2012 then what time zone? If the world lets say ends the minute it becomes that day are we supposed to go on mayan time zone or what? Europe etc is ahead of USA time wise so if it ended on the moment any where became the 21st it wouldn't have been the 21st in the area of the mayans. So is the world ending (if it does) on the mayans time zone or whoevers turns the 21st first?

Hi moonlit~ I guess that's a good question, if you truly believe that the world is going to end on that specific day at that specific time. But, then again, what will it matter? There won't be any reason to guess anymore because no on will be here-

Good point....I wonder what everyone will come up with for the explanation. I really don't believe it anyway...I have a 1013 calendar already....it was supposedly the end of the Mayan calendar so how would they explain the different time zones.

pretty much everyone is bringing up that they didnt have time zones back then which DUH i should have thought of that lol and that it doesnt say the world will end which ive heard that and also that we will enter an age of enlightment etc but figured i would go with the most popular theory for the post

The Mayans NEVER claimed that the world would end. A calendar is just a calendar. When it comes full circle, it starts again.

You are correct the had no more ways of showing the next set of numbers to continue so now people assume we are going to die or something. Over acting over something so silly.

Lol...I had not thought of that. But I'm thinking now. It doesn't say what time, does it? So, I'm guessing around the middle of the day, the world is going to START ending starting from the Christmas Islands and then destruction is going to move across the world and by the time it reaches US and beyond, it would be 21/12/2012 there too. Makes sense, doesn't it? :-P

Thinking logically, they didn't have time zones then. But obviously there were time zones (places to the east having their day earlier than the ones on the west). I'm sure the Mayans had some sort of calculation on that. I know for sure that most of the new concepts we rave about were written down many many years ago by Indian scientists and mathematicians. Just that it wasn't known to the world then.

Oh it must be local Mayan time. I mean, they thought they were the center of the world and the sun god would do their bidding. If you believe what they, or any other nutters for that matter, say, then at the alotted time bend over, put your head between your knees, and kiss your backside goodbye! haha

true they did believe they were the center. i believe something will happen. some say end of the world some say enlightenment etc. i think it may be something no one expects but considering their calendar has matched up well in the past is the only reason i even consider entertaining the idea. i dont get scared at all these freaks saying it every year or month freaking people out.

I have often thought of that. If the world is going to end on a certain date, with no timezone specified, then the Austrailians and the Japanese are going to know first. If the world ends there, then it ought to end here. If not, then we should be homefree. Just watch what happens on the other side of te world.

Just don't think about the end when we are still enjoying life. No such things are going to happen in our lifetime. The Almighty knows best what to do and when. We have no authority on that.

Its not an assurance that the world will end on that day. There are a lot of speculation that the world will end. Actually we are in the last days on Earth but we never notices it because we are so busy in occupying our minds to our daily lives. According to Mayan Calendar their calendar will end that day, hours, year and the next day another cycle begins...That's the story ...When it comes to prediction I truly believe because there are a lot of people who passes by and they were lucky they sent some kind of futuristic seen. What will going to happen when the end is near. To other people they want to attracts people so that everyone will stop and no longer do the daily tasks... But this is a reality check if that day will come what you gonna do?....

if i knew for sure i would just be with loved ones right before. i give the mayans more credit/thought just because like you said others have said the same thing that had no reason to have the same date and all over the world. so something has to be with the date as far as something interesting

I think it's safe to say that it's about the mayans' time because I don't think they would have made their calculations for Japan. No one said anything about this because the probably came to the same conclusion. I don't think they bothered with time zones when they mayans were alive.

I can see your point Vertu007, but I can also See 3honor's point as well. I think that if I were able to predict the end of the world, I would predict where I came from, however who is to say the the predictions were based on their timezone or any timezone since they didn't have it back then.
