I am on my 11th shot of gin and bored out of my mind. Please come share with me what you enjoy about life and how you go about enjoying life when nearly everything around you sucks. Right now I am enjoying a huge bottle of gin, a cigarette, some tunes, and b.s. on facebook. Please tell me about your enjoyment in life and help ease my extreme boredom. Boredom is what i have to thank for every whippin i ever got as a child and every write up i ever got on a job. In other words, boredom breeds mischief!! Save me from mischief and tell me about your enjoyments in life.

It can be easy to get bored with Life. But there are many things you can do to make it so it is not so boring. We will all get bored with life at some point or another. However we can always nullify our boredom with hobbies or finding some interesting to do. If there is something that interest you, or a hobby you would like to take up, look into it. That would be one way to curve about your boredom. Or you could write, or go on a walk, see if your mind sparks something. There really are a lot of ways to curve boredom. I know it can be hard, but I am sure there were some bored people who came up with some cool ideas, while they were bored.

If I remember correctly, that night with the gin, an old friend invited me over to meet his family. I hadn't seen him since middle school. He sent his sober 20 year old to pick me up, and drove me back home later. It ended up being a fun night after all. This is the first time I have logged in in years. Thank you for responding.

I'd tell you, but I wouldn't want to bore you with the details. Yeah, I find gin boring too. Kamikazes are the way to go! Yeah, I know - enuf already. But this is part of what I do to fight boredom when I have it. I let my crooked, warped processor come to the foreground and I listen to my suppressed thoughts that I usually can't share with anyone I know in the flesh cuz they, unlike me, aren't from the planet Dementia. Boring times are perfect for reconnecting with the inner you! Find all those things that have been put on hold cuz of one reason or another and let them have the lime light for as long you can let them. I'm sure a mind like yours has a bajillion things ready for you to enjoy. Take the time to enjoy the ones you can. Write, analyze, create, explore, duck (d = f), ride a bike, drive (d does not = f!), literally climb a wall, stare off into the distance, go to a favorite outdoor spot or a new one, hang out with that "wild" friend or anything else that let's your soul breathe. I think boredom is the result of your inner being feeling trapped for too long. "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Or in this case, Shannon a dull girl.

I miss talking to you Eric. I've since gotten out of that funk. The problem was i wasn't ducking enough lol Problematic relationship, finally over. Two-year restraining order should give him plenty of time to become obsessed with someone else...and it keeps me from being stupid enough to go back just for the almighty duck. haha I've gone back to the serving job I love and about to be back into some working at home ventures on the side. I'll get back into ducking when I find a guy that makes me want to again. Sorry, I bailed out and didn't find your response for years.

@visitorinvasion It's all okay! Life happens - randomly (snicker. Makes a nice segway, huh?). I fully understand your position there. Drains the life outta ya and you end up disappearing into your funk. It really sucks. Glad you got the R.O. though. Sad that it was a necessity. But now you have time to heal, grow and learn to live again. YIPPEEE! Be the wonderful hot & silly intellect you've always been, and pray for the power to not betray yourself again for some "good ducking".

well i guess things aren't really going great for you right now. for me, enjoying life often means very simple things. i take delight in driving down the highway, or walking along the river bank. simple things makes me very happy so i tend to be happy most of the time. a good book helps me relax and makes me happy too. it may sound cliche but it's true these things makes me happy. but nothing beats a great meal, especially one cooked at home. i'm a glutton and i am easily cheered by good food. travelling is another enjoyment in my life. travelling to another country means i get to try good food that's not normally available to me. i guess the key is to stop and smell the flowers. it's much easier said than done and it has taken me years to actually slow down enough to smell the flowers. i used to be in too much of a rush to get things done, only to have too much time on hand and then i'm bored.

I sometimes get bored with my life too. If I don't go out with my friends because, let's say, they're busy, I just stay here in the office to chat with my co-workers or watch movies online. I also do bellydancing twice or thrice a week to keep me busy. Sometimes, if I really don't want to be alone especially if I'm down, I text some of the people I know, even those who are not really close to me just to have a little chit-chat, grab a bite somewhere or share a few drinks.

I appreciate your response and your ideas. I would like to take some sort of class. Bellydancing sounds fun and like it would resculpt my figure. I will do some checking and see if our local YMCA still offers that kind of thing.

Just like you, there are some times when I feel really bored I could listen to my hair grow. But let's not talk about boredom and let me answer your question about how do we go about enjoying our lives when everything else around isn't doing well. I enjoy reading. If there is one thing that can brighten my day it would be a quiet time and some really good book at hand. When I am bored, books are my salvation. I also enjoy eating out. I love trying out different restaurants. I love exposing myself to different culture and beliefs through the food that is served to me. I love discovering the taste that makes a meal good, and the taste that makes it off. But since eating out can be expensive at times, I do that if I only have a budget. Talking to people from different walks of life can also be fun way to spend my time. I love talking to people with diverse belief, thoughts, and opinions. I love that I am learning from the same way that I love being able to impart knowledge to them as well. Last, I enjoy traveling. It can be an expensive hobby if you don't research well enough, but frugal traveling is possible. I enjoy seeing different places and I enjoy conversing with the locals. Seriously, the world is a big enough place to explore so one lifetime isn't enough for me to explore everything.

You should never say you're bored. Boredom is a choice, in my opinion. There are always things you can do to enjoy life, even if it's just watching TV or DVD's of films. Me - I spend time with my two cats (when they want to be fussed, that is! Sometines there off out doing their own thing); I potter in my garden (before I had a garden I had potted plants in tubs outside); I read (surely you must read, if you write??) I watch DVD's on TV or go out to the cinema. And if you want to drink, make sure you're with friends. Make it a social occasion. You sound depressed, visitorinvasion. You maybe should join a group - like a writing group - and make some like-minded friends. I love my writing groups. They make me happy. And then I've got writing homework to do. Keeps me occupied. Maybe you should spend some more time on this site, making online friends. Good luck - and remember - you never NEED to be bored - never!

I ended up not being bored, but at the time I didn't have cable, or any books that I hadn't already read many times. My boyfriend at the time was gone, and i really didn't feel like cleaning after a long day at work. No desire to rewatch any of the DVDs I had on hand, and wasn't going to drink and drive to go to the RedBox down the highway. I get bored easily when it is cold and nasty out. I was broke and not trying to go anywhere until I was offered a ride to go hang out with an old friend. Frankly, TV bores me, and I just recently started watching NetFlix, which is much better than TV, in my opinion. No high cable bill, no commercials. I have a black thumb and can't grow anything that survives.

If you are feeling bored just like that, you can do quite a few things depending on your mood and feasibility. If weather is good, early morning/late evening, you could go for walk in the nearby park. If fitness is not your thing, you could cook one of your favorite meals especially desserts if you have sweet tooth like me. Ha ha..You could also order mouth watering goodies from your favorite joint. Or go out shopping or enjoy watching movies of your favorite superstar. If you enjoy a good laugh like me, look out for popular comedy shows/classics. Or simply start singing and dancing on impulse to your favorite track. Or just hang out, catching up with close friends. Hope this helps. Have a enjoyable day, Cheers!:)

I don't think that there should ever be a time that you feel bored in the modern day world, because there are so many things that we can do in order to relieve our boredom. Whenever I feel as though I have nothing to do, I will always ring a friend and have a chat with them, or I will get one of my films out and watch it with the lights dimmed like it would be in the cinema. I love my life, and there is never a time when I feel bored because I am lucky enough to live in a house with lots of books, internet and a television, so there are lots of things that I can do.

Well I am too small to make you understand you are twice of my age, but whatever I know about life is that, Life is what you make it, as you want your life, you will have you life (I am not talking about having luxurious life). If you think your life is boring then it will be boring, if you think you are enjoying then you are really enjoying your life. Be happy with what you have and expect less because when expectation is not fulfilled it leads to frustration. I just want to say if you really want to enjoy your life then think today is the first day of your life and if you want to achieve something then think today is the last day. Thanks

Well,..I had that sort of feeling sometimes and all I would do is to share that with my guy and he would find something to get involved with..mainly it's sexy as he is sexy and has got a sexy attitude to almost everything.. we try on trips similar to honeymoon but with something spicy..the spicy thing keeps on changing..that's the surpise of every trip that he makes for us both..maybe he calls in his friends too..I remember when the last time I said so and he took a trip to pub somewhere at the middle of the night..there were are some other couples too there..I was a bit amuzed as to why couples stay this late at night at a pub?... within some time a new..they were hosting various programms each weekend..and the day I was there..it was called "lovely wives"..though the program was nammed such, actually it wasn't lovely but sexy..each couple would have their wives on stage to do something what the instructor says..along the couple there wes a small auc\dience..a very small one, moslty I recognized as truch drivers..the main thing of the program was to let those couples do or try some fantasy there..though husbands weren't involved..the main entertainment was meant to the wives..so the thing was to do things like a strip tease and try being a bar attender wearing short skirts.. more it got into the night..things were getting deeper..I was too involved in it that I flaunted my top remowing my bra..it was a nice time and I feel lucky in getting this guy as my husband who allows me freely to do it with his will... next time I say it he would have already found something in his mind or either I would find something myslef..but in either ways I love it ending in a sexy feeling..
