I was at a restaurant yesterday and I was wondering this question 'What will make me leave a restaurant before ordering? hopefully not because of a very urgent and scary call. What about you? is it about services, or other things, has it happened to you or someone you knew?... What would make you leave a restaurant before ordering?

You realize that they will not give you free water with your meal, but each family member needs to buy a $2 bottle of water. You realize that they do not accept the only credit card you have. You find the atmosphere way too loud or smoky. You see an army of ants or other bugs crawling across the floor. Time to go!

Restaurant? - No; this is just me in my back garden a few years ago now.
I suppose the most obvious reason for leaving a restaurant before ordering would be waiting too long for service; I can imagine myself doing that. Alternatively I might leave if there were people close by to my table who were being somehow intimidating by talking loudly and/or crudely. That would make me want to leave, like an hour ago! Unless of course it was embarassing to do so. Alternatively I might leave if I thought the prices were too steep.

Yes...good one! I hadn't thought of that but I do remember way back, a couple of times leaving a restraunt because of the prices. We got in and looked at the menu and realized..oh no..this is way out of our range.

Hi Davido, What a timely discussion. I hardly ever ever go out to eat anywhere. This morning, however, 3 0f my daughters and one of the boyfriends and a grandson decided to all go out to breakfast. We had limited time as I had to leave to work at 2pm. Doesn't sound like that should be a problem but it was quite crazy as everyone was trying to shower and get ready in my tiny little apartment. We all managed to finally pull our act together and make our way to the parking lot where my daughter's boyfriend backed into the car behind him in pulling out because he lost his glasses...another holdup. It was nearly noon when we finally arrived at the restaurant. It was so packed and there were people waiting in the lobby as well as the parking lot. They told us there would be a 15 to 20 min. wait so my thought was "lets leave and go somewhere less crowded". Well, they debated back and forth for the next 10 mins on what we should do so I finally stepped up and said, "Let's just stay now." It would have taken us at least another 10 mins to get back to our cars and across town to another place...oh wait...more than that..they'd have to decide just what place to go to. If it were just me...I would have left because it was so busy because I was that limited on time.

I would definitely leave if: The place is not clean. There are crawling insect or cockroach on the floor. The waitresses or waiters are not friendly and inattentive to the needs of the customers. I like a restaurant that makes the customers welcome from the time we step in the door. I am very particular with cleanliness. Once I have walked out of a restaurant as I had a View of the kitchen from our table and I saw the kitchen sa messy and dirty pans and pots All over the kitchen.

1. If I get a phone call about something really serious (like a friend or a family member getting an injury or having some kind of a health attack) 2. If someone at another table is complaining about dirt in their food or how they had to wait for hours for their food... I'm not going to waste my time or money on bad services 3. If the staff is rude. 4. If there was a person there I really don't wanna talk to (it's really rare, but once in a time I have that mood) 5. If the place is a dirty mess. 6. If it is a fancy restaurant, and there are screaming, fighting adults and bratty kinds throwing stuff around... I mean, if I pay for a meal, I wanna enjoy it, chat with my friends, not to have a hard time because of constant shouting and forks hitting my on my head.

I have left several times for different reasons. If the wait is going to be a long one, if the service is terrible, have had times when a waitress took orders and brought food to several other tables and yet to stop at my table. I have had to leave because of a pager going off (I'm with a fire department) and have left during the meal as well for that reason.

I have left a restaurant a couple of times. One time I left because there were too many people. We waited a long time for the waiter, and eventually we lost our patience and went somewhere else. Another time we left because we sat next to some drunk people, they were very noisy and we decided to go somewhere else. At first we wanted to stay and ask for a different table, but there were no empty tables, so we would either have to put up with the noise or find another restaurant and we decided to find another restaurant. One time I left a restaurant because my friends didn't like any of the dishes on the menu and they wanted to go somewhere else.

I would leave if there's no more table to occupy or if I don't like the food in the menu. Sometimes I would not return to a restaurant if I found out the crew and staff are arrogant and if it takes two hours to order the food.

I mostly used to have homely food. I love them because those food is made by mother's hand and i feel too tasty and too healthy to have them. I had some chances to leave the hotels when i am waiting for the food. The first and the last thing is i need a good environment and a good food to eat. If i find those things are not god i just leave the hotel.

I personally had never left a restaurant before ordering... If I had to leave before ordering, it would because if the place was infested with roaches, unclean cooking standards, or simply because of an emergency.

There are some things that makes me leave a restaurant before ordering. For example, if the worker or waiter are not dedicated to their work and only takes order when they want to. Waiting too long to even get my order or the menu. Also, the condition of the restaurant itself can sometimes makes me leave before even sitting.

I have done that for a couple of times already. Most recent and most unforgetable was just 2 weeks ago, it was on a weekend. The waiter/s of that restaurant seemed to be so nice on those well dressed people and appears to be rich kids. They are attentive to their needs and hoping to get a big tip. Well, we are not that well dressed at that time but I believe our clothes was quite decent. And so, I just ignore what happened at that moment and we looked for a better place to eat. We ended at a fast food. Lesson learned - I should learn how to wait, that should apply on all occassion that-I may consider waiting instead of leaving. How knows, I may be wrong to label them negatively.

If the place is too crowded and having a long wait to order then really feel hungry. I better go to other resto to eat immediately.

When I go to check a restaurant that I haven't been before, the reason why I had to leave is I didn't like the food that they have on the menu.. Or sometimes I had to leave when I ask a question to the waitress about some of the foods on the menu and they couldn't answer what's in it.
