Okay guys and gals, I went to see the apartment. I was so nervous, we had to make sacrifices before I saw it. For those of you who did not read my previous article. I have to give up my washer and dryer for this place. There is a washer and dryer on every floor though. I will have to pay .75 cents a load for it. Then it is far out, the end of the city, after my place there is just the highway. It is okay for people with cars but we don't have a car it will cost us 11 dollars to go by bus to get groceries, and then drag them home, however, a friend of mine will take us if we give him money for the gas. So that was why I was nervous also, if we refused the place we would be kicked off the low rental list So we were more or less stuck. I was worried that the bedrooms would be too small, I didn't want to have get rid of more furniture because we need what we got, but I am happy we both love the place, The biggest room in the house is one of the bedrooms. I will be taking the smaller bedroom, because my son has more stuff, and I don't mind, I just hope I can get a desk in there for my computer. But I won't know until I fit my furniture in it. I might have to take one bureau out and put it in the locker room but that is okay I don't mind. what ya thinks guys and gals Oh yes I will be moving Sept 1

i'm sorry to hear that you are going through this. moving is one of the most stressful things to me. especially when it's backed up by having to deal with housing. it is a blessing, but the process makes you second guess, too. lol. i have to go through a renewal this month. i am not looking forward to it. good luck with this process.

I am glad to hear that the bedrooms are large, winterose. It really stinks the way the system works so that you have to take something and make those kind of sacrifices, but I suppose that it has to be that way. I hope that all turns out well for you in your move and in your new place. Peace.

Well I hope that it all works out and you can get your furniture in there, or store one of the bearuea's. That sounds a bit out of the way, but if it's away from civilization a bit, I would not mind it. $11 to and from just to get groceries seems a bit much so I am hoping the friend will come to take you for groceries every few weeks and overall that should save money. I can't imagine being able to take a lot of groceries on a bus. Now would a cab cost more? I imagine it probably would. It costs me about $17.00 to get to work when I need it to, and that's not a cheap feat.

the 11 dollars is two ways on the bus and two people my son and I going. We do our grocery shopping once a month because that is how we are paid. That is why it becomes a lot of bags and too much to carry on a bus

That's wonderful news. The way I see the situation with taking a bus to get groceries, even $11 doesn't sound like much with the money you will be saving on the rent, plus you may never have to use the bus. You're going to feel a lot less stress without having to worry about paying the bills every month once you've moved. That will probably reduce a bunch of other symptoms, too. All in all, I'd say this is a terrific move and opportunity for you. Congrats!

thats how it always is. get the bad stuff with the good. i just hate change and adjustments also. i had 2 rooms when i moved in here with son. then my youngest got thrown out and i had to move into one small room to make room for him here. i have room for my pc but barely. theres barely room to walk around in here now.

well as I wrote in the discussion there are sacrifices here to be made and because of that it is not everything that I want but it is nice and it is doable.

Having lower rents and things that work like the electricity will be really great for you. If you can manage the other inconveniences you will do fine. I am pleased for you. If you can shop for longer periods of time you will not have to pay so often for transportation too often.

I wouldn't get much for it, I will probably just give it away. The washer and dryer that is.

This is great news! When I moved here it was on the north end of town and I worked south (tho I knew that it was moving in 6-9 months north.) The rent was almost twice as much as I had previously been paying, but the landlords were my parents. So the pluses were more than the minuses and now the house is mine.

Hi Winter, I'm so glad that it is going to work for you. Being so far out and away from everything would be the biggest problem for me if I didn't have a car. 11.00 is pretty steep for bus fare. It's so good that you have a friend that is willing to help you out in that department. I hope he is reliable. The bedrooms sound like what I have here. My daughter has the large room which is really quite large. My room is so so tiny. I don't sleep in it. I have a huge sleeper couch that I sleep on. My room has a very small couch which is perfect for my other daughter who is temporarily staying with me with my 16 month old grandson. She is short and tiny so the couch fits her and she says she is comfy. Even a twin bed would have taken up so much space that I'd not have had room for my desk and bureau. I actually put my dresser in my closet just to have more space. It works. I know you will make it work for you. Good luck, Winter!

oh now the smaller room is not small that was what I was afraid of before I saw the place, it is an average size room, the master bedroom is bigger, and that is the one my son has claimed. Well actually I offered it to him before we saw the place because I was worried the second room would be too small for either of us. Glad the girls are comfy in your home too.

It's good that you like the new rental. It sounds like it should work out decently for you even with the changes that you will have to make. At least, you have a few months until you make the move. You will have a chance to pack and iron out details during that time.

I know Randy and I will start looking for places as well, but I am sure for us it will be hard finding places on the first floor. We have to live on the first floor because Randy cannot climb stairs. Neither one of us is working right now, however Randy will be getting disability and social security in August and we do qualify for secion 8 housing. Eventually we do want to buy a home, but we need to clean up our credit first. I am sorry you have to sacrifice your washer and dryer and have to bus in order to get groceries. Where I am now (my parent's house)we live within walking disatnce to grocery stores (I just have to remember not to buy too many groceries) so I can carry them home.

where we are now we are spoiled, everything you need is on the corner of our street, so that is hard when you got somewhere else where there is nothing but houses. I am going to be going to a seniors residence even though I am not a senior yet, they are giving it to me and my son because they don't have anyone who is 60 on the list. I am 57. My son is 35 so he can come with me. Our building has an elevator, can you guys get one with an elevator?
