Tightening the belt...OUCH!

I was denied my SSI when re-certification came around because I had two trailers so...they had already paid me SSI for four months at that point so they are now deducting it from my SSD check this month and next month at $55 a pop! This means that my income for these two months will be a measly $641. OUCH! Of course, the money from my trailer sale is gone now. At the end of my trailer money, my computer caught a trojan and had to go into the shop. Also, my a/c needed fixing which is going to cost another $302! Ain't it the way! So now I'm having to really tighten my belt and try to figure out a way to make ends meet for the next two months. I'm trying to make more money online but that is slow coming. Any suggestions? I do work several sites but could probably manage to work a few more. By September I should be good.

I am glad to hear that you got things worked out. There are so many sites to join to make money. Gather, MyPoints, InboxDollars, SendEarnings, SlicethePie, SuperPoints, Beezag, MatesGate, Hits4Pay, DealsNCash, RewardPort, SideTick. My list goes on and on. If you want any referral links let me know. I know that with MyPoints, Gather and MatesGate two people from the same household can join the sites, that way you and your daughter can join.

I sent you a friend request. I am afraid that I cannot send you a message until you accept my friend request. I was going to contact you on your blog but it says that it is up for sale? I also have my blog posted on my profile here and several of the companies I mentioned in this post I have blogged about.

"Gather, InboxDollars, SendEarnings, SlicethePie, SuperPoints, Beezag, MatesGate, Hits4Pay, DealsNCash, RewardPort, SideTick" are not on my list that I'm working. I had tried InboxDollars and SendEarnings in the past but I guess I never figured out how to make any money on them. The others in this list I have never heard of. Are you really making money with them? Thanks for the tip. You can PM me and maybe we can figure something out between us, eh?

If you have not already started using SWAGBUCKS, I would recommend that site. Just like all others it takes time to accumulate points, but there are many ways to earn, and they are currently running a special that if you make a set goal you will receive a bonus. You can request a paypal payout, or lots of giftcards that pay pretty quickly. I also like quickrewards.net. You can cash out for any amount over $1 to a paypal account. Again there are many ways to make money through the site many of which do not require you to put forth any money. Otherwise, just keep plugging away. I was in a similar situation with having to have major car repairs done, so I could get to my job to get money to pay for the repairs. I just plugged away and as soon as I could cash out I did. Also, see if there is a facebook classifieds for your area. I have sold some nicer clothes for a decent price, along with a few pieces of furniture.

One of the things about swagbucks I like is that they partner with coupons.com so that you basically get an extra 10 cents per coupon redeemed (though it takes a long time for it to show up). I like to think of income as being both offensive and defensive. Here we are talking all about offensive income (adding to the coffer), but I think the internet offers much better ways to have defensive income (not spending money in the first place). I love all the sites out there that basically do the work of extreme couponing for you.

Just to let you know, tech, I have not been avoiding responding to you. I tried to the other day and it just would not post. Sorry this is taking so long. Anyway, I am active with Swagbucks and recently my daughter turned 18 and has opened an account on mylot and Swagbucks for herself so that she can help a little with the finances. I am also currently active on Quick Rewards, Neobux, Clixsense, Wordlinx and Prizelive. I bring in about enough each month to pay for my internet, on average. Some months I bring in more. As for being frugal, I don't think I know anyone who is more frugal than I am. I just wish I could have managed the money from my trailer sale better while I had it. I have a problem, though, in my perception of large sums of money and I tend to get a little lost when I have over $1000 to manage. lol...I know it sound weird but my brain just cannot get around larger sums of money and so I tend to spend it without thinking. Oh, well. Knowing this and doing something about it are two different things and I blame no one but myself for my financial woes. I am tightening my belt, though, rest assured. I don't run my a/c unless I have to, I don't turn on lights unless absolutely necessary, I'm growing my own food as much as possible, and I'm having a yard sale this weekend. Wish me luck! At least this setback is temporary and by September I'll have the $55 that I won't have this next two months. At any rate, I'm sure we'll be okay. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into some of them. Have a great day!

Though the reason for our situation is much different than the reasons that you are having to tighten your belt, it is something that we've had to do as well. Because of the difficulties that we've been facing, I've been trying to put a lot more time into working online. However, it is something that is slow going. In addition to that, I have also been alternating which pharmacies we are using to have my husband's prescriptions filled at because they offer different incentives. For example, we have four that need to be filled right now and Kroger is offering $25 for future purchases when you transfer a prescription to them so we are going to transfer two prescriptions that we will have to pay $20 for to Kroger and get $50 for future purchases.

Yes, when I switched to Safeway from Walmart pharmacy they gave me a nice incentive, as well. I'm trying to figure out some way to get a cooler for my room because our a/c doesn't really cool the house as it should. Still, we are managing and while my budget has never been tighter, we are still able to make the ends meet somewhere...even if not in the middle.

City life is expensive that an urban denizen can't afford to go penniless. The horrors of bills coming in every end of the month is what should make somebody out there busy to earn enough to pay the rent.

hi dear alaskanray, sometimes I wonder as to when your financial troubles will get any better. I soooo much wish I could help you with them but right now I cant do much more than I am already doing. There sadly are too many rip offs on the net so I cant suggest any online site which really pays and pays well.

lol...well, my friend, I think you just get the bad news because that's when the wheel squeaks. The fact is that we are actually doing quite well, despite the setback. I called Social Security last week because they were counting November as one of the months that they overpaid me and actually we didn't move until the 22nd of November so they should not have included that month. The good news is that they cut me a check for that month. I still have to pay them $110 but they will pay me $22 so in actuality they are only getting $88. Now I have to come up with receipts or a statement of some kind to show them that I have, indeed, spent all the money I got from my trailer and then they'll reinstate my SSI. Then I'll be back up to a nice fat $718 per month income. In the meantime my daughter has joined Swagbucks and Mylot and she is making money to help out that way. Unfortunately, she can't joing many of the sites I work because they only allow one person per household/IP address. Bummer, eh? Oh, well. She'll be able to start looking for work in October and I will be signing my trailer over to her so if we find ourselves in another situation like the last one, this trailer won't be in my name so they won't be able to hold it against me as a "resource".
