Got a new job!!!

The other day I applied online to a new Ugg store opening right next to my old job in the mall. It's not open yet but there's a poster outside that says coming soon and it had the website to apply. I did one night after work and I wasn't expecting to hear back from anyone for a while. A few hours later I got a call from the manager and was offered to meet for an interview. I had my interview today and this woman was the nicest manager I've ever met and I fell in love with the company the more she talked. They're involved with charities and the company has a list of core values they adhere to and the first one says family first. I hadn't expected to get called so soon and the store opens the day after my boyfriend gets here. So going into the interview that was one of my biggest concerns. I want the job but at the same time I want to spend time with my boyfriend before he goes to Korea. When she asked if I had any questions I told her my whole situation and she completely understood because her husband used to be in the army too. She said she wanted me to spend time with him and I'd only have to work like twice while he's here and she'd give me only 4-hour shifts so I could spend time with him. About an hour and a half after the interview I got a call and she offered me the job! I feel so happy because her and the company seem so down to earth and understanding..completely different than what I used to work for. I start off at $10 which is awesome for me and when she called me she again mentioned my boyfriend and how it's not an issue and she'd be willing to work with me and help me out. I'm excited for this fresh start and I think I'll really love this place...I already do from what she told me in the interview.

Sounds like this new job should be a great fit for you. It is nice that they already seem willing to work around your schedule so that you can spend time with your boyfriend before he leaves. A lot of employers are not that flexible, unfortunately.

I think this job will be perfect. I definitely wasn't expecting her to be so willing to work with me during the time my boyfriend will be here. I thought for sure that it could be a deal breaker if she wanted to have me work the grand opening and I wouldn't be able to because of my boyfriend being here. I truly appreciate what she's doing for me and after seeing already how caring they are, I think things will go well and it'll inspire me to work hard.

Thank you PQ :) Ever since the manager called the other night I've had a really good feeling about this company. From what she told me in the interview it seems that this company really values it's workers and does a lot for them. Already this aspect has been proven to me because the manager hired me even though she knew I couldn't work the grand opening of the store. I'm so grateful and I really appreciate what she's doing for me already. I can't wait to start, I feel like I'll be really happy here.

Congratulations Courtknee! I am sure you must be feeling super excited on being offered a new job. The whole procedure of applying, being called for an interview and getting selected sounds to be very positive and promising. The manager as you mentioned sounds to be very concerned and sensitive. Hope you enjoy working in this new store and also get to spend time and enjoy with your boyfriend. Take care and have fun!

So happy for you! It sounds like this is a fabulous company and it sounds as though the manager is wonderful too. It is always nice to work for someone that cares and is understanding. I work for two companies that are the same way right now and I am so glad that I found the two of them. If more companies would think that family needs to come first. employees might stay at their jobs longer.

Thank you :) I totally agree with you and I also think people would be happier about their jobs if they felt as if the company actually cared about them. That's part of why I left my last job, I had been there a year, new hires were making more than me, and I just felt like I was another number for them. Now, I'll be working at the store right next to my old one and I think I'll be much happier

Yey! I'm so happy for you. I think it's great that not only did you get a raise, your manager is also very understanding about the situation. It's just funny that it's right next to VS. I wonder what your old manager would think when she sees you on the other store (and quite happy!). Well goodluck, and I hope it's a fun gig!

Thank you :) I really did luck out with finding this job. It'll definitely be interesting because all of the managers and employees will have to walk past the new store everyday. And since it'll be opening soon, I'm sure some of my old co-workers and managers will stop in for a look. They'll be surprised when they see me in there I think lol. I'm interested to see what will happen with that

It is great that you were able to find a job in this bad economy and that she is willing to allow you to have some time off to be with your boyfriend before he leaves for Korea. How long will your boyfriend be in Korea? I wish you the best of luck.

I'm really thankful that she's being this nice about the whole situation. I wanted the job pretty bad but I felt bad because the timing was wrong because my boyfriend is coming down. Luckily, she totally understood and I feel so relieved that she'll be letting me spend as much time as possible with him. He'll be in Korea for almost a year, and I think that's part of the reason why she's being so flexible with me.

I really do have a great feeling about this job. Right from the beginning the manager had wonderful things to say about the company, she wasn't intimidating, and she wasn't snobby. I'm excited to start soon and I think I'm going to enjoy working there a lot.

Hi courtnee I am so glad for you. here where I live Jobs are hard to g et. this sounds like you will really enjoy it and your employer is going to work with you too which is wonderful so you can see'yor boyfriend before he goes off to Korea. You will probably earn more after you have been there for awhile but thats a good starting wage.I hope you really excel in your job and love everything it. This is wonderful as so many places now are not offering jobs.

Thank you :) I just quit my other job that I had been at for a year and I was still making minimum wage (7.67) while new hires were making at least 8. I got fed up and quit. I knew my boyfriend was coming down soon and i wanted to be with him as much as possible so I was going to focus on getting a job after he left. But this opportunity popped up and it's too good to pass up. The manager is so down to earth and I think the rest of the company is as well. She's willing to help me out during this time, even though the store is having it's grand opening and I can't work! I feel so lucky to have been hired by a store like this. I'm looking forward to starting.

Thank you :) I'm really excited about it. My bf will deployed almost a year so in the meantime I'll be here working and maybe I'll have gotten a raise by the time he comes back. I'm just really happy the manager is being so flexible with me and is going to really work with me and help me have as much time as possible with my boyfriend while he's here.

Congratulations on your new job sounds very exciting. It is so nice that your new boss is going to work with you so you can spend time with your boyfriend before he leaves Korea. not many places are this understanding but it sounds like you found one that is.And your pay is great I have never made that much before at any job I have worked.I have not worked since 1999 due to having my daughter and then after that I was able to stay home with her for a while I worked part time jobs but nothing big plus worked at my church doing childcare making $30.00 a week.

wow. That is completely surprising to see a boss like that.Mostly they won't understand nor care about the needs of the employers, but tend to extract all the possible work from them. You are lucky to get one such boss.Good thing that she had a husband in the army,so that she could completely understand about your situation with your boyfriend.I would really like to work under somebody like that.Nice to see you happy and all jumping.Happy mylotting.
