Is war (as we know it) REALLY NECESSARY??

I got blasted this morning by some folks who seem VERY pro-war. They claim that it IS necessary, that it's inevitable, and that it will just continue to exist. I suggested that we find a way to shut down the people who START wars rather than just go to war with them - because there are too many casualties, INNOCENT people who have nothing to do with the war, don't even know the people who caused it, and don't care to ever be involved. These are the majority of people who DIE in these stupid things! My other suggestion was to have the stupid wars take place where there are no other people - and then someone laughed at that, but I think he missed my point. HAVE the war TAKE PLACE somewhere that is uninhabited so you don't have innocent people - WHO WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR DAMN WAR - killed for NOTHING!! The people who want to go shoot each other? They can all GO THERE and DO IT! By all means, be my guest! This guy from this country doesn't like that guy from that country? Heck, I don't care, I don't want to know about it, I am not going to stop their disagreement, I just want both of them to stay as far away from me as possible. I'd rather not even know they exist, that's how much both of them matter to me. Less than dirt. You would think by now, humans would have gotten to the point that we can settle our arguments or disagreements WITHOUT ADDING OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT INVOLVED to personal drama!!

I'm with you all the way. I hate war or anything to do w/ war. People killing each other simply because they are different or do things differently. How people can claim to love God & worship Him & then go out & kill His children & have the nerve to claim that they are doing so in His name makes me sick to my stomach. We are all children of God. We all live on the same planet & we all breathe the same air, yet as long as man has hate & evil in his heart we will never be free of war. Only God Himself can put a stop to all man made wars & some day soon He will do just that.

Its a really big misconception. I agree with your point in this matter. I too hate wars and human killing. I hope we will have a world one day without wars.

Well, I would be ever so happy if the first thing God did was come back here and get rid of anybody who caused a war or was going to do so in the future. Then we'd be set for life, err, the rest of it!

I get the gist of what you are saying and yes that would be great. Put them in a Colosseum and rip each other apart. I am all for it. However, you have people like Saddam Hussein that literally would hold an innocent civilian in front of himself so that you can not attack. Bottom line, people like this are cowards but unfortunately they are world leaders. While your idea is nice, it would never happen.

The problem is when a man comes into power, his ambitions get to exponential limits. The desire to grow infact conflicts with others interests. When this becomes intense, we are lead to wars.Wars only create misery.

I agree and very rarely does anybody actually "win" a war.

I feel that the more people who would work on themselves, through meditation and other practices, the more people would come to a way of peaceful thinking. If we can forgive, we can accept our True selves more. It always begins with just one person discovering True Self, and then another can see this person's peaceful nature and is inspired to do the same. it is happening now and spreading slowly. We can all do it. Everybody! But when a single person that because the world is so violent decides there is little he/she can do, and not bother, then peace total will not come, because it involved the whole of humanity and each of us is part of that whole - it just one is missing then it cannot be whole. Can we forgive everybody? That is the challenge and if we can, even those that create war can be moved as more and more peaceful people come into contact with them. This is not a religious point of view, but what all religions have taught as a way of life. It is the potential that each and every one of us has._Derek

IF you see war is a seriously worked out plan. Even though at times we feel the war is fought on high sentiments, its a wrong notion. At the background, its very well thought out and the plan is carried out.

I definitely agree with you that war is not necessary. Unfortunately, though, part of human nature drives us to fight with one another...our greed, our ambitions, our hatreds, our anger, our unwillingness to compromise, etc aren't easy to dispense with. If we could, the world would be a much different place in many ways. On the other hand, I'm not sure it's always the best policy to NEVER wage war under any circumstances. If, say, a Hitler arises and starts invading other countries, I think he needs to be stopped even if he hasn't invaded your country yet; it's better if the world comes together and stops such a madman as soon as possible I'd say, even though that means bringing on the horrors of war on your nation. In a way, I think warfare is heading more towards your version of it. There are already drones and other automated military machines -- we're not so far off from the point of just being able to let machines go at it against each other. No human soldiers necessary! Of course, as you've suggested, the fighting would need to take place far away from inhabited areas to prevent civilians from getting caught in the crossfire.

For the survival or living of humans , war is not necessary. But for the survival of economy, war is very much required. these days war is not fought for pride or glory. its all mere business games. unfortunately people fail to realise the real motive.

Good evening dear mylloter friend , well in my personal view , war was never neccessary , when war is going , its is actually other nations trying to steal the resources and have leverage on theire oposants , and when the people in charge of taking war decisions , they only want to do it , because in theire sick and twisted mind , is that you want to start a new age or other , they need first to destroy and then rebuild , so in answering your question , in my personal belief war was , is and will always be unnecessary measure . Good evening HosmanF.

I think its human greed for power and resources that leads to war. Even though the outside reasons many, the only reason is this. Some people want to dominate over others and they take war as the only way out.

When we turn the pages of history, the only thing that we see is wars. Wars fought on various reasons for glory pride and ordeal to save civilization. I always wondered how humans could be so interested in exterminating others. Now wars are fought based on the well thought out plans and cunning or evil intentions. poor people fail to realise this . The only loss is humanity pays a heavy price everytime there is a war.

Whether war is necessary or not depend much on the reason for having to start a war. If a nation face imminent threat and not going to war will means the total destruction of that country by the enermy that is determined to attack you with deadly weapon like WMD, under this circumstances, waging war is justified, especially at that moment, it is the only viable option available at that time of distress base on self defense doctrine of survival, not other reason like political or economy. Before waging any war, every nation has the responsibility to make sure it should exhaust all available options like diplomatic, sanction and etc....before decide to go to war, if the threat of total obliteration by your enermy is so close that waging a war is the only way to avoid being annihilated, then by all means, start a war while you still can do that. So whether war is really necessary or not, we have to depend on the real time situation on the ground and the reason behind it, it is very difficult to come out with a definitive answer to it, as every situation and circumstancea are different and complex.

War can make things only worse. But I bleieve those pro-wars has their own reasons. But in my own point of view, that will destroy each and evey one of us. I beleive in the word "backfire". The harsh things we do to others will eventually hunt us sometime in the future, I believe in that thing. That's why, I avoid the clash and try to fix things before it destroys me and others. Thanks. Nice one there.
