roshigo, I'm so sorry your son is sick. Tonsilitis can be very painful. This site has very good natural remedies that should help him to overcome the problem. If he uses the apple cider vinegar remedy it should be organic vinegar. That works best. But there are other cures as well. www.earthclinic.com/CURES/tonsils.html Good luck and I hope this helps.

Hello Roshigo!I can only give you a natural healing method I used to do when I have tonsillitis. You can go to your kitchen cabinet and get your bottle of vinegar, and pour some in your glass, then add some half spoon of salt in it.Used it to gargle in your son throat when he was going to bed and make him repeat it again upon waking up in the morning. This help shrink his tonsillitis. He must not drink cold water it must be lukewarm after each meals.During bedtime,he must also prepare two pieces of a big face towel, and pour some water in one of it just to make it wet enough, then put around his neck and then also put the other one which was not soak with water, this is avoiding wetting his shirt, because he was already sleeping. This technique in medical because it is absorbing his body heat and in the process has a healing effect to his tonsillitis,by helping it more to shrink and heal.Try it to your son friend it is very effective.

In the past it seemed that the tonsils operation was popular because it seemed to be simple. However, today it seems that this operation is not so popular and I even think it is not necessary. After all, the tonsils will still have some functions for our health. And the children will have less tonsils problems when they grow up.

I am sorry to say that I differ. It is not true that in the past tonsil operation was popular because it seemed to be simple. For your kind let me inform you that tonsil operation is much simpler now that it was before. But it is advocated that as tonsil acts as a defence mechanism for the body it should always be tried to preserve it in the body. This is why, tonsillectomy is hardly practised now-a-days.

My son is also prone to tonsillitis and often gets cough and colds because of it, but our physician did not recommend any kind of operation.. he just wants us to watch out for not to have it get severed because it can cause rheumatic heart failure if left un-cured. We just follow the doctor's prescription of medicines, have him take it on time and if the doctor said 10 days, you should follow it for 10 days. LOTS OF WATER that is also one of the best to avoid tonsillitis which i always have my kid drink lots of, no sweet juices for him.

i thought your son is still a kid, but from the discussion i have read above, i saw that he is already 23.. if it is really something that bothers him maybe he could have it removed. my brother-in-law a few years before had his tonsils removed as it kept on getting infected.

It is not healthy to be sick all the time because of tonsilitis. The only way to get rid of it permanently is the take the tonsils out. I also had been suffering with tonsilits quite often when I was a kid. It was like being away from school every month. My physician uncle told me that the next time I would have it hr will take it out. I was terrified, of course! Gladly, I never had tonsilitis again. Is your child fond of eating ice cream or other cold drinks? It is most likely the cause of frequent attacks of tonsilitis. Coughing due to allergy can also trigger it. You might as well train your child to always have a mask with him everyday.

Hi, My son also don't have any serious problem like your partner. He also takes antibiotics. But I think antibiotics have some bad side effects on our body. So we should try to avoid antibiotics as far as possible. thank you for the response.

Hi roshigo58 I guess it depends on the age of your son...some times this things gets better as the child grows older...one of my children had the same problem until she was a teenager and today she is 42 and still have her tonsils...she may have an infection once a year but she learnt to cope with it and she is fine! now when it comes to dust allergy that is another problem! try to keep your home as dust free as possible[ I know is not easy]by vacuuming often and changing the bed clothes at least once a week that should help a lot! but at the end of the day we should let our children play in the dust and dirt in order for them to build a system that will help them in the future.

I used to have those kinds of problems as a child and I didn't want my tonsils removed either. Tonsils serve an important function in the body and I wanted to keep mine. I started reading about allergies and natural ways for managing them and I changed my eating habits. Now I have very few problems; the only time I get even remotely sick is if I don't drink enough water or if I don't eat right.

Hello! I am fond of listening to a radio station here about natural medicine. I have heard once that for those people who have problem with their tonsils, they must avoid drinking cold water and taking in much sugar. Some undergoes tonsil operation and removed it because the virus that frequently causing tonsillitis can go to the heart and caused rheumatic heart disease, Your son must boost his immune system by taking in vitamin C and for the dust allergy, he must strengthen his lungs by exposing his back to morning sunshine. next time I listen to the radio program, I will send a message about tonsil problems and I will send the feedback to you.

Tonsillectomy is now seldom advised by doctors and this especially so for teenagers. So I would suggest you to take opinion of any reputed ENT surgeon who is the ideal person to help you. Meanwhile, take some precautions for him to prevent the occasional attacks of tonsillitis. Ask him to use a comforter around the neck, to take hot water gurgle at least three times and routinely on every day. As he has dust allergy, always keep him away from dust. Appropriate antibiotics have some definite role to play but start it after going for a swab culture and sensitivity test. I think he has not yet attained the age of falling a victim of diabetes, but still do a fasting as well as post-prandial blood glucose estimation.

I guess you have to consult a doctor for that matter. He is the one who knows whether to undergo surgery or not. In our place, we have an alternative cure for tonsilitis. It can only minimize the swelling but not to cure it. Let the child eat not so ripe papaya dip in vinegar.

Hi roshigo, I don't have any idea how old your son is but as a parent you have to make the best decision for your child. And tonsillitis is a reoccurring infection that really have a solution... Just tell him he can have all the ice cream he wants andn if he is school age advised him he can even have a couple of days with school..BUt the operation is difinately the best move in this situtation.. Anyway I hope your son feels better real soon..its really sad to see our children sick and not able to do anything...

Tonsils a very recurring problem to some people specially children. This has been the problem of my youngest son. He was nearly operated had I not seek for second opinion. I could remember very well the doctor's advise for him after he gave some antibiotics for his swollen tonsils, "NO MORE JUNK FOOD, NO SWEETS, NO TOO MUCH COLD OR TOO MUCH HOT DRINKS. GURGLE WITH LUKEWARM WATER MIXED WITH SALT 3x A DAY". Thanks God, he is alright now.

I had exactly the same problem when I was young and living in Lima, where the sea water is very cold! Going to the beach meant that I would end up with tonsilitis every time! I never had a tonsillitis operation, yet I survived with my tonsils still with me! The only thing I can recommend now are lollies for sore throats, although that does not take care of the fever.

Have you consulted the physician already? Is surgery the best way to stop his recurrent infection? As far as I know, Tonsillectomy( The removal of tonsil) is suggested if he had a recurrent tonsillitis in a month/year. Antibiotics is the suggested medicine.

My first born also has enlarged tonsils. When he was younger, they also got infected frequently. I suppose there are some advantages of keeping them; his doctors so far have never really recommended to have them removed. He does not seem to get them infected as often now, and he avoids drinking too much ice or really cold beverages. Anyway, is that why your son has not been here as often lately? I wish him a speedy recovery...

Tonsils are there in throat to fight germs in childhood.but afterwards no role.its better to take out if creating a serious problem.its operation is very common and only takes half an hour maximum.you can come home next day.how old is he?try to convince him.otherwise you may also try homeopathic medicines.avoid cold water.i hope he agrees for permanent solution.
