As we age we tend to lose our memories more and more. Do you have anyone in your family that has gotten senile dementia? There are nutrients that help us with our memories. Some are worse than others. Here is a list of herbs that will help with memorie: Ginkgo Biloba This herb has been deemed "the brain tree". Many experts believe this herb can boost mental performance, specifically our concentration and memory. Ginseng This herb is also very powerful in improving the mood, the memory and attention of people. This herb is even used for children with attention deficit disorder to help them focus more and enhance their memory. Rosemary This fragrant herb has been labeled as "the herb of remembrance". Rightfully so, since this can help treat poor memory and concentration. The aromatherapy of this herb can improve mental clarity and can revive the senses. Bacopa This herb has been known to treat people suffering from Alzheimer's disease. It helps improve the functions of our brain and balances the chemicals in our brain such as gamma-aminobutyric acid and glutamate. The most important thing is eating a healthy diet, being active, and keeping your brain sharp

I usually look at genetics first. I am just a believer in herbs and have been using them and advising others to do the same for over fourty years. i would start with the first one listed and research the last one before use because I haven't heard much about it.

Not at all!My grandpa lived over 85 but he didn't suffer from this kind of illness. Wow,Celticeagle!Do you know herbs very well? And are you a herb doctor?Thank you for your warmhearted help!I think I'd better spend some time on what you listed above and then do some trying soon.Good luck and great health to you!

I think at your age it is rather premature for you to worry about suffering from senile dementia. What you said about forgetting the dish you have eaten the night before and what not is nothing new to many people, because people are inclined to ignore the trifles.

I have the same problem but I am much older then you...but welcome to the club. I don't know if there is a way to stave off dementia...or not. But hopefully they will find something that helps to keep the memory alive.

Old, don't worry too much. Sometimes due to too many stress, we can tends to be forgetful for a while. Sometimes, i do forget some of my things but after getting a good rest, i am doing fine again. I think we need to have enough rest, to have a healthy mind and body.

It seems what you told me really makes sense. If I don't have a good rest,my head mostly will not feel good or even I'll have a headache! Then my mind can hardly work, and I always lose my chess if I play chess at this time!Wow,I think I must know the reason,of course I'd better add some nutrition supple.Have a nice day!

You don't have to feel so alarmed with this kind of thing happening. I find that the busier the lives that we lead, the more difficult it is to keep our short term memory going as well as it would have been in the past. With that said, I find that working on different mind exercises is something that does keep me sharper than I was before I started doing those kinds of brain challenges. For me, I don't know if I will end up with dementia or not since my great-grandmother did have dementia but my grandmother did not in her later years.

Anyway anyone cannot decide what he or she will become in the future,so we have to put everything at God's disposal and just let it be since we have no choice.Good luck!

There are many reasons why you might forget things stress can be one of them. I had this for a long period for example after I gave birth (the last time I thought it would never come back). If you have a lot on your mind it's easier to forget too, also if you are not really interested. You can practise your memory and also make things easier for you to write down what you really need to remember (set an alarm clock) ..brains are like a hard disk of a computer.. full is full.

According to what you said here,I can say my working stress is the main reason,in fact I don't like my job but I can't leave it.And my bad sleeping may be the second. Thanks a lot and have a nice day!

Hi Old, I think that you must take advice from a doctor, and you must try to exercise brain too. There are web sites with brain exercises. When I was single I used have a better memory, with motherhood (3 children) and house chores, my ability to remember things decreased, but I began playing music, this is a good exercise for my brain. Blessings oldsix... dainy

Don't be alarmed. You are not alone with this. My husband is only 41 and he would seem to forget things, too. Just like yesterday, he asked me to make him a cup of coffee. I did and placed it at the back of the pick up truck where he was nearly standing from. After a few minutes, he called me and asked if I made him a cup of coffee. he didn't remember drinking it and putting the empty cup on top of the dining table. First do not panic because the more you do the more you will get upset and therefore the inability to think and recall. Just try to research more on what foods, vitamins and exercises you need for the brain. There are foods for the brain and challenge yourself in games that needs solving thus deep thinking to sharpen your mind, keep reading and join organizations about this to update and help you know more about it. I am also like you but instead of worrying, I sit back and relax and try to see where I started before I got stuck in my memory. I am taking a chinese brain pill and it seems working for me. Be positive. Try to start jotting down because this will help you recall, always have a pocket size notepad with you for this kind of activity. It is hard but we need to help ourselves in times like this to lessen the burden we are about to carry.

Oh,thanks a lot,my friend!I don't panic for that because I always think one's destiny is not controled by himself or herself and I usually have the atitude"let it be".But since I have my family to support,I have to watch out that kind of thing. Well, researching proper foods for the brain, doing some exercising, doing deep thinking,...Wow,you've listed so many good advices for me!I'll do what I can do for myself.Good luck and have a nice weekend!
