Figuring Out what Works for Me

United States
October 21, 2012 8:27pm CST
I've been here now four months. I'm starting to realize a bit more what works for me here so that I can reach that cash out. I know that starting discussions, if I get some response and respond back, that helps a lot for me in a month. I also know that if I can respond back with more than a few sentences that will mean I will not have to write as MANY responses typically. I'm not saying that longer response will always give more for a shorter one. Because I do not know that. I just know that I write more fluently and better when I have something to write about in more than a coupld sentences. This is my little niche. And it is my quality. Every one here in myLot has there own quality that is what myLot is based on, is quality. It is not length and it is not the number. I just know that I do better in this way. Some may feel more comfortable and more accomplished to write to many different people in a day. I also do this. I try to reach many people within a day because I love to write on other people's discussions. There are so many out there that we could of course do this all day, every day. so this is how I do well here, every one will have their own method. Is it madness? (method to the madness)

Yeah, that would work for me also. Except that I tend to read too much when I'm here; sometimes I'd run out of time before I can even post anything. Offline, I'd consider myself a quiet person; and sometimes I find myself not having too much to say here either. Well, that's just me, of course. As you said, every one will have their own ways to enjoy themselves here...

Try rating the posts after you read each one. That might help you a little bit that way you are still participating. You can also post comments after reading each post if you have something that you want to add to what the person is saying in their post.

Yes I think that is considered participation as well which is what we're paid for as a whole. i do tend to rate most posts but not all because some are just neutral neither postive to mylot nor negative.

Ah yes I"ve gotten caught up a few times just reading the discussion and all of the response and then I'll be there for a long while before I even get to my own. I hear this is a common thing also in myLot.

echo that is really good. i remember you were in a discussion when i was talking with mysdianait also. that was good. i do not know whether that discussion has been deleted or not because many discussions were deleted in the recent past. everyone has his own way of writing in mylot and earning. we can adopt what works out for us and what gives satisfcation for us.

Yeah I've been in a few discussions with you and mysD and hatley I don't know which one you're referring to now. I am just enjoying myLot and loving what I do here. Its not that important for everyone but for me I'm just expressing what I think works for me here.

Barging in or giving comments to a discussion, just like what i am doing right now also helps to boost our arnings. this has been tested by me and find it as an effective strategy.we just have to enjoy what we are doing, and express what is on our mind, and you will not realize, sharing your thoughts and ideas unconciously gives you already a better income. i'm glad that the other day I already reach my pay out.

Yes, I have found that posing comments to others posts and conversations does help. Plus it works a lot better especially if a lot of people have already posted. Then you are also following the guidelines of reading the other posts before posting a response. You can comment on what a lot of people have already said; then if you still have something to say when you get to the end of the string you can also still post your thoughts if they have not already been shared.

That is good , if you find something that work for you do it . I dont start a lot of discussion , I really like responding to others discussion , that way I dont have to wait , I can do all I can and finish for the day . I have a lot of online activity to cramp together at night so making a schedule is important for my success here . So far I am very proud of myself , I think I am doing great since I only started using my account in august.

That's really nice that you're doing well and keeping up with your schedule that you have created for yourself. No matter when we've joined its important that we feel needed here and we're keeping up with our own expectations. you're doing what you want here and that is keeping you happy and besides you are earning well here I am assuming.

Every now and then, i tried to experiment and I found something that really boost my earnings. and I wanted to share it with you and other mylotters. it is important that you set goals everyday. before i am used to be a discussion maker, now i decided to experiment like being a responder to many discussions, and based on my experimentation, I earn more when just responding rather than start my own discussion. what i do is to reach my goal to respond like around 50 to 75 discussions, and the next day, the earning is fulfilling, enough to say that it matches with all my efforts. but still i start a discussion like around 1 to 2 discussions in a day. i find this technique as a very effective strategy to have good amount here.I'm glad that I reach my pay out the other day. I am doing some excess earnings this time.

Being part of the site is always a learning process. everyday we learn a new things in the site, not only about the site but from the people that post here. we learn from their experiences and they learn from us. sometimes we have to track what we are doing here for us to find out if our techniques and strategies are effective.so just in case, it doesn't work for you, you can think of other way on how you can boost the earning.i can't make 50 responses as well, maybe if it will be my rest day i can do it.

Well that's always good to have some excess earnings. I have only had that once and that was from 3 month time to reach that mark and then I had extra after that. This month I think I can reach that mark and I am learning how to do that every month because that would just be amazing. I don't want to be annoying to others, always starting a new discussion and so far I don't just do that and I do respond to many through out the day. I don't think i have ever responded to 50+ in one day.... I could be wrong though because I do not keep track either.

Yes if we want to be effective here we need to have in mind something that will keep our goal otherwise if we go blindly or just not having this in mind, we typically will not reach it. This doesn't mean for me to have to track every single thing I make or respond to. But to have some idea will of course always help to do better the next day as well.

If you able to make respond for every comment you get, whether on your own discussion or others. Specially when you get plus rate, that will make your earning get better. Rate didn't give earning to us, but it is help our earning. Cause this mean our respond or comment are match with the discussion. Its more like you have given correct answer for a question. Its mean, you give a quality not quantity.

Nice job on clarifying the rating system. That makes it very clear on whether to give it a plus or negative rating. A lot of time I will give a poorly written post that does not follow proper grammar rules a negative because I feel like their should be a certain level of quality writing on the site. I mean we are not texting here, so I do not get the people that type all in lowercase without proper punctuation. I understand the little typos, spelling, and grammatical mistakes. That is minor stuff especially if the majority of the post is well written.

If people are using the rating system correctly then yeah it can help us in our earnings too. We aren't supposed to use it frivilously meaning do not + a response because you like it and do not - one because you don't like it. It is supposed to be if you think it is GOOD for myLot then the + and if you think it is NEGATIVE for mylot then that is the - and if NEITHER apply then do nothing. The rating system can help us though in our earnings eventually you are correct in that.

Happy to have helped. I usually rate text speak badly. It is one thing as a typo or something as habit even but if it is blatant and repeatative, no, that should not be in myLot.

There are so many ways that can help one earn here. I play it by ear, doing what makes me comfortable regardless of whether that will increase my earnings. I enjoy interacting, contributing, and last but not the least having fun. In the good old days I did well attempting tasks - there were several of them - mostly article writing. None of those task creators are here today.

I've thought about creating a task before. The problem is that it goes from my own earnings when they complete that task right? So unless I feel I am way ahead for the month in earnings I may not feel comfortable to start a task. Or it would be a low paying task anyway. I also do what feels comfortable rather than what I think I have to do. Usually though I end up spending a lot of time here, I'm always comfortable.

Quality is indeed important here. I always try to strike for that every time I post here. But, once again, I would love to say that the quantity will also affect your earning. I mean, you won't get much earning from just one single high-quality post. That was my method when I wanted to reach $10 within a month. I counted the posts I've made and measuring it..

Echo I missed this! It is brilliant if newer users stop off and read your topic and then go through the boxes to see you all having fun here. This is definately what discussing is all about and you all had such fun. I bet you were all happy to when the earnings updated as well I remember when I was first here and outside the politics interest there were never many occasions when the boxes were all filled up. Then afew of us got together and started 'barging in' on discussions and leaving comments on responses and then it sort of snow-balled and everyone was doing it. MyLot took off and so did the fun! By the way, I have seen a comment on here that will make a new topic and as soon as I get an afternoon free enough to be here I will post it

Thanks for the tips. I am pretty new here, so any advice is helpful. I signed up years ago but never really did much with it, but wanted to try it out again. So, we will see how it goes. I would think if you write a good response, it would just naturally be a little bit longer because you are giving more information. Of course, not all responses need a lot of info. to be good though. I think to as you start to have your posts rated, and gain ratings that might also help you. I cannot say for sure. I would just think that is part of how they determine quality by the ranking systems. Like you I joined several years ago, and gave up on myLot for awhile. Tags are helpful in keeping your discussion somewhat active too I think. Without tags some members would not see your discussions right away. Usually your discussion will show on the right of "similar topics" and without the tags well, then, where would they show up? Thanks for chatting with me last night it was great fun!
