Will you accept to work in the holiday if the paid is better?

Here the official companies will offer triple paid for the employees who have to work during the official holidays. Supposed you can get better paid during the holidays, will you accept to work in the holidays? I am reluctant to work even if the paid can be better. As I need my time to be with my family as family is always the first for me.

At my last job working on the holidays paid double the regular rate. I still did not want to work the holidays, and I did not.

If the holiday falls on a Tuesday, a Wednesday or a Thursday, I will accept it. If it's on Monday and on Friday, I want to spend it with my family. Triple pay? That's great! However, I won't accept the offer if it's on Christmas or on New Year. I want to be with my family and enjoy the holiday with them.

Yes because I only have a few holidays each year. We are not following our own country's holidays at work. Christmas and New Year are the only holidays that me and my family can spend time together.

Being a single guy I have the luxury of being able to choose when I work, even if it's unsocial hours or in the holidays. Years ago I was always volunteering to work Easter, Good Friday was the best day of the year to work as the pay was very very rewarding. I also loved working the weekends too because that was extra pay. The only three days I would refuse to work is Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day, because I want to spend the time with my mum. I worked one Christmas Eve and it turned into the shift from hell so I vowed never to work Christmas Eve again and you get no extra pay for Christmas Eve either. Christmas Eve should be a public holiday too.

Your Christmas holiday is just as important as our Chinese New Year

Before I would've said yes but now that I have experienced having the luxury of not going to work during holidays, no. No amount of money can match having more time to spend with my family and loved ones and to give rest to my work-exhausted body.

Actually if you asked me a few months ago I would've said yes. But things changed within me the past few months. Plus I got to experience the privilege to go on leave during local holidays and now I realize it's better than the double or triple pay I used to get.

If I have a full time job, I will definitely accept working on holidays for additional income. I always take advantage of extra money that come along my way. Family comes first ofcourse that is why I work hard (if I have a job). But there isn't always opprtunities like that. If I will grab it, I will just double the time to be with them on my day off

If you are being paid tripple then probably I will be working because such opportunities won't be coming often. when there is opportunity, then there is no wrong in using it. Yes , we need to spend some time with family. to make up for that also, I would probably work in alternative weeks during week-offs. Then there would be a proper balance with the work and the family!

When I was in my 20's and had no concept of how important family was, yes I volunteered most of the time to be at work during the holidays. Not because I needed the extra pay, but rather I found family gatherings boring and I thought it better to just go to work. I realized how wrong I was after ten years when I would be at family gatherings and everyone would go down memory lane and bring out the pictures. It felt bad that I wasn't in any family picture aside from the ones when I was a teenager. My aunts dismissed this by saying they knew I was busy at work. Still, I realize that such memories and occasions cannot be replaced by money.

Hello youless. I prefer to get more pay during the holidays, but in fact I have never been paid more even if I work during the holidays. My boss tells us teachers to make more contributions to the school without asking for pay. I am used to it and I never expect to get more pay because of working extra hours. It seems that I have already developed this habit of making extra contributions to the school. Have a good day.

For me, it would depend on what holiday it was that my company was wanting me to work. You see, when I worked at the hospital I really didn't have any choice as to whether or not I would be working on the holidays. I had to work either Christmas or Christmas Eve every year and I had to work New Years Eve or New Years Day every year as well. Yes, they did pay us well to work on the holidays, but it was something that really was hard for me because it meant that I didn't get to spend time with my family that I would really like to be spending with my family.

Since I am currently out of the country to find work and left my family behind, I would very much prefer to work during holidays to up my income. Enjoying with friends can be done once in a while. Besides, I don't have the financial luxury for now. John Maxwell said it best: "If pay now, you play later. If you play now, you pay later. And if you pay later, the price will be greater. I'm going to earn as much as I can so I can get back home and be with my family forever and enjoy the fruits of my labor with them.

Most of the time, I would agree to work if the pay so significantly better compared to what we get for the common work day. It has to be at least double the pay for I to give up my holiday and work as I too have friends and family that needed me to spend time with. Of course, one thing that we can consider is that holiday is aplenty and missing one or two would not be that much of a loss.

It all depends on what the holiday means for you. Is it an opportunity to earn or an opportunity for family bonding. I myself won't. I would rather spend quality time with my family. we have 365 1/4 days every year and most of it is spent on working. Triple pay, yes it's good to have. But there are things that money can't buy and that is spending quality time with your loved ones. Besides, where do you think your bosses would be on holidays while you are working your butt out and sacrificing family time? :-)

I i say frankly, i am ready to accept if they paid more. My aim is to earn as much as i can in my young age and relax after geting old. After all we are doing all this hard work for the family only to give them better future. By only spending with them is not treated as love towards them. But the brite future.

hello there youless, honestly speaking, before i used to refuse working during holidays even the pay is too high. hence, there is no better pay rather than to be with my family. and because of this, my supervisor will not waste his time anymore to ask me about it since he knows already what would be my response. however, if that thing happens today, i will definitely accept the task and willingly work even during holidays. because nowadays, my family members have changed their attitudes towards me since i came back home last year. that, because i was assigned in a far away place and my work requires me to live far from them, then, they get used to the set-up that i am not living with them. as a consequence, they are not used to see me anymore in the house. hence, they would feel happy if i am not around. so, that is the reason why, i will definitely accept a job even during holidays, though i love to be with my family hence, they are not happy to see me around.

Why not? When I was still working in company, I used to work during holidays except Christmas,New Year and lent. The company doubles the fee during holidays and since I had nothing to do in some holidays, I intended to go to work. The company I used to work at was not faraway from our house so I didn't mind going there on holidays as it was just 15 minutes away from our place.

Working on holidays is not the best time to work. That is why it is called HOLIDAYS. Unless my financial situation is very bad I would not work on holidays. It is ok to do some small amount of work, but not full-time. Holidays are for relaxing and turning the head off in the first place. Do something with your family or friends. Don't work on holidays.
