I don't know how many people know what Redbox is but it's a big red box put in stores that you can rent DVD's from. It used to cost $1 but they went up like 6 cents which is no problem. You have to use a debit or credit card to access it. I live around the corner from a store that has it and usually bring it back the same day or the next day definately. Today I got a notice from them saying they are debiting my bank account $28 because of a DVD I didn't return. I did return it that same day and I am certain of that because it was my normal shopping day and before I left the store I returned it. Have you used Redbox? Did you ever have any problems with it?

I used Redbox one time and no more for me. The same situation happened to me with a movie and I made sure I returned it. They did bill me for it, so I no longer go with them. I like Netflix a lot more, because of their variety of horror flicks you can't find anywhere else.

My sister in vegas told me this happened to her once... she called the company. They realized it was their error. Refunded the money and sent her 10 codes for free movie rentals. Worth a try.

I hate those machines... I used to work at a video store, back when video stores still existed, and I really loved my work. The whole thing was taking care of the store, getting the boxes back on the shelf, but my favorite part, was talking with the people. People would come in wanting to know more about the newest movies that just came in, talk about what they like to watch, and figure out what would be a great movie for them... it was so much fun, I really loved that work... But then... the internet became so accessible, and so fast, that people could download movies quicker then they could come to the store to rent them, and that began the fall of video stores. Even after I stopped working at the video store, the first thing I did was started downloading movies, because it was way cheaper and quicker... and now I go into my nearby grocery store, and I see the robot that has now taken over what my job used to be. There's no more talking to people about movies, finding recommendations or figuring out what not to watch before you have to see it... now you just go and put your card in a slot and it just drops out a movie... it's a really terrible thing for me to see... but really, I can't blame anyone. People like me is the reason that video stores went the way of machines that do the work for us, anyways. If people weren't able to get movies online so easily, and rentals were still making money, maybe there would still be rental stores like the one that I worked at... and people like me that enjoyed talking about movies with the customers so much... At least I still have the internet to discuss these kinds of things, even with the rental stores gone....

I would have thought that netflix would be a better option for you. With Netflix you can watch as muchas you like for one monthly price its also streamed so you don't have to go out to pick up or return discs. This means you avoid the problem i used to get sometimes when i rented DVDs often the discs were scratched that they wouldnt play meaning another trip to complain and get a disc that works.I definitely think that Netflix is worth subscribing to it dosent cost that much and you get a massive selection to choose from.Without it my life at university would be so boring as i cant afford a TV subscription. But i always find something good to watch on Netflix.I have also never had any problems moneywise with Netflix.

I was a Netflix member years ago when they were only $3.99 to join, then they started raising their price and it was more than I could afford.

There is one in the supermarket I shop at and it's very convenient but them being the way they are and raising the price which I'm sure they will keep doing and then to charge me for a dvd I brought back. I'm not going to use them any more...their loss.

We use Redbox every now and then. Never had an issue and I make sure to return the DVD the next day or the day after.

Wow, we have never had any issues with using them. I have gotten charged once when I thought I returned one in time, but nothing saying I never returned one. If you use your Debit Card from your bank, check your Email, etc and see if you got a return confirmation email if you use it. I would also call Red Box. Hoping somehow this can all be resolved.

I've seen their boxes around, but I've never used them. We have no desire to, either. Why bother with that when there is Netflix, iTunes, Amazon and a slew of other services online that are either paid or free? Plus, the local public library has a decent selection of movies, and we have satellite television (a small package, but there are enough movies and documentaries available on our channels, and we can DVR and watch as we see fit). I think that our synagogue's library even has a small but decent selection of DVDs. So, we are definitely not a loss for stuff to watch. If that is typical of Redbox, I'm surprised they stay in business, considering that most people readily have available a whole host of other options.

I use redbox all the time and not had a problem with it. It might have not went right when you put it back in. We have to remember everything today is electronic. Give them a call. I think Redbox is reputable and will help solve your problem. Go to their website and there will be a place where it says contact them. Let us know how it works out.

My husband and I have used redbox before. We never had a problem with red box itself. We had a problem with a friend that we let borrow it and then they LOST it! I didn't know they were that irresponsible or we would have never let them borrow it. We told them to make sure they returned it. They didn't. So, we got charged $20+ too! A week later he finally found the darn thing and returned it...

Oh never heard or seen a red box. since you posted a photo now I have the idea what it is and how it looks like. no red box here in the Philippines. So is this some kind of vending machine but a DVD inside it? If thats it well it will not work here in my country because there are many video/ dvd shops here. The real problem with this business is to how the costumers return the dvd.

I know how you feel because I experienced that too when I borrowed a book from our University's library once and then I am very sure that I returned it before the deadline but then when Finals came, I can't get a permit because I had unpaid balance from the library , accordingly. I had to pay the book since they said I did not return and that if it is returned, they should have found it in the library.:(

I use RedBox from time to time when there's a movie out that I want to rent. I don't want to be on any monthly streaming service, I think that would encourage me to watch more movies and TV than I actually have time in the day to see. I kinda like it, though to be honest I miss the Blockbuster that used to be in walking distance. It was just so much nicer having a store to browse through and people to talk to. I think vending machines are making us anti-social. Anyway, I've never had a problem like that! Though, it's good they stopped charging you at $28 as opposed to charging you forever.

Hi, I used to rent DVDs from a local station, the owner which is a friend of mine. When I have almost seen all of the collections, I moved on to buying or bartering them from the Muslim vendors I can see everywhere. No Redbox here. Your experience is awful with that one, USD28 is too much when I could have that for USD1 or less here. Sometimes they would bargain a package price of three DVDs for USD2, almost giving one away. Now, what would I do with this stack of DVDs here? Got to find some time to view them, when the HDTV/Computer monitor/Xbox/Cable LCD is not busy.
