I can see a difference in my hair and nails

Okay, I've started taking vitamins again, and I've started taking biotin (vitamin B7) and vitamin E. my nails were always dry, dull and have ridges in them. The ridges are still there. That's a normal part of aging. However my cuticles are now nice and healthy looking and my nails actually shine! I have had a problem with dry nails and stiff cuticles that would get caught on stuff and get torn. Now that problem is gone! My eyebrows were wiry and stuff like my dad's. they were so bad that I started shaving them off and drawing them on. I'm talking about my eyebrows looking and feeling like whiskers. That's wht I sum tarted shaving them, not the other way around. Now my etmyebrows are coming in soft. Your thoughts?

hi PointlessQuestions it is so amazing what the right combination of minerals and multi vitamins can do for us. Last winter I was ill all of December and January cold then flu then bronchitis and pneumonia n ow so far this winter since taking a more potent multi vitamins for seniors. It so unds like you are also having great results with your combination of vitamins too.My hair and nails look better b ut some of thats from the thyroid meds also I now take as I had too low thyroid. This change in my health has made a believer in me for the more potent vitamins and the fact that I get these free as o er the counter meds from my HMO its just great and would be foolish not to take advantage of the set price I can order for over the counter things like c alciums tablets and vitamins and other over the counter things all of us use.

Hi Aunt Hatley! I'm sorry you have been sick, but I'm glad to hear that you are doing well with the right mix of vitamins. I had my flu and pneumonia shot yesterday. I'm feeling so good. I can't tolerate walking around the block on a regular basis because I end up in bed for 3 days. So now I dance for 30 minutes every day and I feel wonderful! I like to dance like we did in the 1960s. I might not look pretty dancing, but I feel great now.

My thoughts are that I'm going to start taking vitamins again. I have always gone through spells of taking them and then not bothering with them. I never get sick so I don't much think about it. But my eyebrows are an issue now that I'm older. I've never had to do much too them but now they are just so like what you are describing here. I don't have much trouble with my nails..so thanks for this PQ!

I'm so glad to help. My eyebrows are no longer whiskers anymore. They are much softer. In a couple weeks I will begin shaping them with plucking. When I was young I almost had a unibrow! I had to pluck the middle.

aww..the unibrow thing...i have always had that too but honestly I had good eyebrows other than that and so had low maintainence. Latley...they just are so ugly. There is a lady that comes into the store I work at that complety shaves hers off and often has razor burn and does nothing to fill them in. It looks so so horrible. We talk a lot so if I can find a way to kindly bring this up, I'm going to tell her about this little tip. I'm thinking I can do it once I try it and see the difference myself...I'll let you know.

I have noticed that since I have been takin vitamins that my nails grow longer and faster. I have to continually clip them so I can type. I don't know how Dolly Parton does it. But she probably has people who does it for her. lol My BFF found that if she clipped the end of her lashes they would grow longer. Interesting how the body works and all isn't it?

If prolly put my eyes out! yes, I'm noticing my nails are not brittle now. They are shiny and getting stronger. I never thought vitamins would make such a difference but they do. I'm dancing 30 minutes every day now in my room with Pandora radio. I live my oldies.

You seem to be responding well to the vitamins.I haven't taken any vitamin.I know biotin namely coenzyme R and vitamin E are helpful to our health and the vitamin E has anti-aging effects.

Wow, it's good to see that vitamins really do work and help with things like that. I've been thinking about taking some sort of vitamins as well because my nails have always been pretty thin and they always break when they get too long. For Christmas I got a clear nail polish that is supposed to harden your nails. Maybe I'll use that and get some vitamins as well.

I know, it has been a while :( It's good that you take a variety of vitamins because that way you're helping out your whole body and getting the benefits from each vitamin. I'm not sure why the shot wouldn't be available..maybe not as many people know of that method or want to get vitamin shots? I'd like to start on some vitamins myself. My nails have always been pretty thin and I'd like for them to be stronger. I've also found that I'm tired all the time, even when I get a full night's rest. I don't know why it's happening but I'm thinking vitamins may help.

My nails are very dull, and have a lot of whote marks on them. I was told it was from the low iron. I am glad you got it figured out, and it's turning around. I know in the past I've had issues and my body has adjusted to it, and I just began to think it was normal.

The only supplements I currently take are calcium tablets, as I have a calcium defficiency plus I take cod liver oil tablets, mainly because of my strenuous work outs I do at the gym three times a week, my joints take a lot of punishment so they need to be cared for, and cod liver oil lubricates the joints. My old doctor used to swear by Centrum and recommended it to me, he took them and would recommend them. They were expensive however and not available on prescription. I eat a good varied diet so I get most of my vitamins from my food.

I mostly just eat Progresso light soup (1 can) and various veggies and fruits. I eat an English Muffin with a little peanut butter. I also eat 2 slices of 40 calorie bread. I eat Greek yogurt in my veggies. I eat a potato about 2 times oer week. I drink 1 to 2 cups of milk a day. I need calcium and D. I have osteoporosis. I haven't gotten any in ages, so thanks for the reminder. I'm not on any osteo meds yet. If I get bad enough I might need to. I hope my diet helps my bone density.

I'm glad to hear that the vitamins are helping your nails and your eyebrows. I need to keep up with my vitamins. I know it is very good to take vitamins especially if we are not eating a lot of fruits and vegetables. Keep taking them I'm sure you will probably notice more good results toward your health as well.

Yes I am feeling the wonderful health effects of taking my vitamins. I'm even dancing 30 minutes each day. That's something I couldn't do a month ago.

I think the vitamins that you tae, brand and dosage and all, are compatible with you. I tried to take Vitamin E for my skin and hair (I'm still in 20's so I believe the effects should be visible since I just want my lack-luster hair and dull skin to be healthier looking). It didn't work even after I switch to 2 other brands. As long as you do not experience any side effects, then I guess you should continue taking them.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you. It might be the combination of multi vits, biotin and E. I just know there is a significant difference.

I'm pleased that you see a difference in your health. It's amazing what vitamins can do. I'm exercising 30 minutes a day too and I think the vitamins help with that too. I used to be too tired all the time.

yes i've read about biotin and would really like to try them so i'm glad you say they worked for you. how long were you taking them before you noticed the improvement? i wonder if the brand is available here? sometimes i fantasize about tatooed eyebrows since i don't have the patience and pain tolerance to shave and pluck them. but i guess it would look weird having black eyebrows and a head of white hair when i'm 80.

I've only been on it for 2 or 3 weeks and I see an improvement already. Down at the quick I see new shiny nail growing there. My eyebrows are coming in soft instead of wirey.

I do think that taking good quality vitamins help me with my stamina and general health and well being. Don't have the issues that you have, but I do think that taking vitamins help with our health. We just don't get enough vitamins in our foods. Even though I eat fresh fruits and vegetables, I just think that vitamins give me that extra boost for my health. Glad to hear you are noticing improvements to your health. All the best to you.

I agree with you. We don't really get enough from the foods we eat. I eat a lot if fruits and veggies. It's the majority if my food intake. My face is really changing. I don't look my age at all. My facial skin is like that if a 40 year old or younger. I've always looked young for my age; I've always been told that. But the lines I used to have are gone.
