I am partly handicapped which prevents me from getting a job outside the home.Eight years ago my husband died after 7 and a half years of marriage and we had a minor daughter.Social security then said that we could get Survivors Benefits till my daughter was 18.It was not a lot of money, but it paid the rent,a few bills and a little bit of food.I was still trying to earn some money on and off line to get us some medical insurance, get more food and a larger place to live. The rent we were paying was jusr for renting rooms in a house. Social security told me that I could not get disability till she was 18 because I was eligible for Survivors Benefits and to start the process of getting the paperwork and seeing doctors 6 months before her 18th birthday. During the month of December I was working a temporary only job for that month, which I did not get to finish because leaving there the day after Christmas I slipped on some "black" ice and broke my foot! Then in late January my daughter turned 16 and they removed me from half the Survivors Benefits money,my part because they have a new law that when a child turns 16 they do not need their parents as much anymore and they can go to work.I called social security and they said that I need to apply for disability then and according to my records I would be eligible for almost $800 a month, but I would not get it in time to pay February's rent.I filled out the paperwork and received a response that I had not earned enough money through the years for me to get disability now but I could file when I am 60(in 9 years) against my husbands earnings.I cannot do it now because we had to have been married 8 years. Plus I am not considered disabled because I have earned about $60 through the years on myLot and PTC sites.

I find it ridiculous that the people who really need and deserve the help cannot get it, but some people who don't really need the help can be approved right away. So right now your only income is HALF the survivors benefits you were getting and whatever little amount you earn online? Do you at least qualify for food stamps?

It will take some effort, but you should be able to get needed benefits. Also, $60 from online sources really is nothing; you should easily be able to earn that much or more per week online even if you are not spending all that much time online.

I am not sure what paper work you have filled out for disability however what they are saying does not sound right. I would file an appeal. There are also lawyers that take no money up front to fight your claim for you. They do however take a percentage of what you get after you are awarded the disability which in your case sounds like it would be worth it. If there is no laspe in time between when you filed and when you appeal they have to pay you from the time you filed which is where the lawyer will get his money but then you would get your monthly checks. I have always told people that soc sec will decline 3 times before they approve you. It is stupid but it is what happens. The lawyer might make that go a bit faster since you are in need of it right away. As for paying your rent have you tried going to salvation army or your local community action agency to get help with rent? You may also check with health and human services for emergency assistance since you have a child. Best of luck to you and don't give up.

I can't believe what you're going through..it's just terrible to do that to a person. And I really don't understand it all. I wish there was a way I could help you out or offer some suggestions. Can you fight any of these through legal aide? It all just sounds like a nightmare to me. Here are some websites for you to check out. They are all legitimate and "NOT REFERRALS." They are places that offer work at home....if you have ever watched America Now, these sites were listed on their tv show, and I already have known about them. You can find them on the America Now Website also if you'd like to check....just search for online jobs or work at home jobs. Anyways, here are some of the sites they mention and I hope you find something that you're suited for. NOT REFERRAL SITES: www.ratracerebellion.com www.indeed.com www.FlexJobs.com www.HomeWithTheKids.com And then there are some Forums that you can go to...the WAHM site I've used for many years....you can ask questions and get answers...it's a fairly big site so take your time and have fun. www.wahm.com www.WorkPlaceLikeHome.com I really hope you find something to help your terrible situation.

Are you being taxed for your small earning online. Here in my country they would not know if you are earning online or not. So you don't get taxed for that

I know it is a crazy system we have. The $65 dollars is probably a month, as that is what my son can make on SSI. But when he was under 18, they would adjust with my husbands income and some months we would get nothing and others we would get the whole amount, and my husbands income was more than your daughters survivors benefit. I would call and ask about the SSI. You might not qualify for Social Security, but SSI is for low income. I would also go to Job and Family Services and apply for all the help that I could get there. If I can help you any, with questions or sites that you can sign up for, let me know. You can PM me and that way we can talk with it being private.

I thought I had a hard case. This is one of the saddest stories, I ever heard. We were denied twice. You have to have a lawyer. I wrote a hardship letter, to the Governor, of my state, and when we went to court the he was approved. Sometimes you have to go beyond offices and their rules. The Governor wrote us back and assured us that he would look into the matter. He did. Hope this helps. popciclecold

Wow, this is really a terrible situation because you should be eligible to get at least partial disability. However, I also know that for anyone that I know that has had to go through the process of getting disability will have to apply for it time and time again before they are finally approved for their disability payments. I know that you probably don't have the money to do this, but I think that you probably should get a lawyer that will be able to help you through the process of being approved for social security disability.

That is sad that they cut your benefits and now you have to wait to get benefits because you didn't work long enough. I have heard this many times which is just sad. I hope that things work out for you because living on a small amount of money is no fun at all.

Oh my gosh!! this sounds just silly. If you cant work due to a disability then I would recommend consulting with a lawyer.

It seems that sometimes the money goes to the wrong people. I have a helper for two days in my house and she has not been able to get some benefits from the government because the social woerker goes to her house and they find it clean.

You shouldn't disclose that you are earning such amount from online jobs for you to qualify for the disability benefits..Since you are not able to get some from you social security you must be more active with the online sites for you to have a regular income.. Goodluck!
