I've been pondering over this for some time. What do I need the most? A new computer chair or a console table? The answer: DEFINITELY a new computer chair. The reason is simple. My chair is 12 years old and was basic when I bought it so I'm surprised it's lasted this long, to be honest. It's now uncomfortable to sit on and feels a tad unsafe as it rocks (probably due to my fat butt lol) so, yes, it's time for another one. Also, John has some extra money for himself. The chair is cheaper than the console table by quite some distance so it's a 'win-win' situation for us both. Oh, and the chair is British made and it comes assembled no less. I shall wait for the money to transfer into my account and I shall order it tomorrow, to be on the safe side. Here's the chair..and yes, I AM buying a red one, despite there being a load of colours to choose from!

Yes, it will be a nice contrast to the black glass desk and my silver lamps as well lol. I've actually ordered my new chair and when it arrives we can take the old one to Bousteads (a recycling centre) so at least I can get rid of it.

Red's best, you have my thumbs up, no questions. And I am glad it comes assembled. Even something as basic as putting a chair together I am hopeless! I really need a new chair, the place where I got them sadly has closed down, and I need to find another one, that sells ex office furniture, they are the best, as they tend to be industrial and last longer. By the way I had a shock on Tuesday when I went to buy a wheelbarrow, 70 quid! I know it was a garden centre, and the plastic ones were 80 quid how can they justify that? I might try Argos, or see if The works deliver as you helpfully suggested previously. At 70 quid I'd rather go without thank you.

OMG that's scandalous, I had no idea the price of wheelbarrows and how many does that Monty Don have? Half a dozen I'd say! I can feel some serious research online coming on. Question for you wolfie. Do you have certain add-ons that help in your online shopping? I use Firefox and there are things such as Coupon Helper on there that will flag up codes as you shop. Seriously, it works! Just a thought.

I use Chrome on both my laptop and my Mac. I find firefox too temperamental, and it doesn't always block the pop ups, even though they are turned off I think Argos maybe another alternative. Garden centres have always been expensive, they wanted 8 pound for 10 runner bean canes which are wooden, the plastic ones were 15 pound. Rip off or what.

I actually bought a pot plant from Morrisons of all places up in Bolton, Lancashire when my aunt was alive, I brought it home put it in the garden and thought nothing more of it, it's now almost tree like, with beautiful yellow leaves that flourishes, I wish I had bought a couple more, it cost me 89p! I don't use adblocker to be honest, some sites I use to earn money you are not allowed to use adblocker on for some reason.

Spiffy. I've had my chair since the late '70s. Still in great shape.

Made in Waterloo, Ontario, oddly enough. I say "oddly" because I bought it in Vancouver!

That's great Janey. My chair is a bit rickety, about 8 years old I think, and it has been sinking down, so I had to jam a piece of wood under the seat to stop it sinking. One of the gas cylinders that is obviously leaking now. Surprisingly enough, it is still quite comfortable with the home-made fix but I just have to ensure that the wood doesn't move so have taped it with duck tape. Sue on the other hand got a bargain from the local charity shop with a near new-typist chair for 15 quid. _Derek

Yes, we were very lucky that day. I had a load of stuff I wanted to take there that we no longer wanted, books and some electrical stuff and there was this computer chair, hardly used. It was a Red Cross shop and had only just come in that morning, so I sort of grabbed it quickly. _Derek

Plus the silver of my two lamps (desk and floor) and I can't wait until the red chair arrives. It may take up to 5 weeks as they're 'made to order' but I'm willing to wait.

I remember in college I bought a basic chair, It came in a box. Here 3 of us roomates sitting there wondering how to put it together seeing as we didn't have any tools. We had a butter knife and put it together. It still in one piece but not something I would use all the time. My Dad uses it out in the garage.

So true, before my Dad took mine he tightened a few things on it. It's still a little loose.

It sounds like an excellent plan to me. I love red as well. Especially when it provides a pop of color here and a pop of color there. Enjoy the new chair and enjoy a more comfortable seat.

Thanks. I know what you mean about a 'pop' of colour. Because I've got red at the other side of the room it will be nice to have a bit of red at this end of the room too. I've always thought it was a bit gloomy so a red chair will definitely brighten things up a bit. I shall post a pic once it's in position lol. At least it comes ready assembled which makes a nice change.

Hello my friend Janey. It is excellent that you have thought about which you need most of all: a console table or a computer chair. It looks a well made chair and it is British made. I am glad that it is way cheaper than the console table. I see you have chosen a red chair. I hope that you will be really pleased with it.

Thanks maximax8. To be honest, I've had my eye on this chair for quite some time but thoughts of the console table got in the way. The reason why I didn't go for the latter is that I've not seen one I'm 100% happy with, hence my reasoning behind picking the chair. Also, it's cheaper, which keeps hubby happy! How are you progressing uploading photographs? Has it worked? I know I've had trouble in the past uploading photographs onto MyLot but, sometimes, a change of browser (temporarily) might do the trick, if all else fails. It's frustrating when it doesn't work though.

I used to have a computer chair that looked like that. But it didn't last a year as the kids were always playing around with it (including me). Always turning and twirling and pushing the lever up and down. Now, we're back to an old fixed chair which could become uncomfortable. I guess you've got lots of work to do here in myLot if you want that console table next!

Where exactly do you work on your pc? I am asking because the red chair should blend with the other colours in that room. I had a revolving chair but I now use one of my dining chairs as it has a tall back. I very rarely need to revolve!

Yeh, we can get Cuddle Chairs over here and you have to pay extra if you want it to revolve. Seems a bit silly for them to charge but that's rip off Britain for you lol. The red chair will go in front of my computer desk, where I am sat now. When it comes I shall post a photograph of the whole..er..effect.

I have my computer desk a long time also. I am not ready to get rid of it yet. but I did see one that looked extremely comfortable and it had a high back. Mine has a regular height to it. But it works for now. What I am saving for is a new computer. Not that there is anything really wrong with mine. its just that I had it now almost 6 years and it is just starting to seem a little slow. And besides, since I am a major apple fan I figure I would love to have the new iMac. Nice!!!! Good luck when you get the new chair. Who knows, it might be so comfortable that you fall asleep. LOL.
