The pot calling the kettle black....

You have probably heard that expression, well let me give you an example. I wrote an article on another site talking about this site, myLot. I gave information on how I have been doing here dollar wise since that is what people want to know. I got a comment today from a woman who basically said that myLot discussions are boring, mundane, lack quality, etc. She went on and on about what she thinks. Well, just for the heck of it I looked at her profile page on that site and she has only written three articles and the 'best' of the three was about a bacon sandwich....seriously a greasy bacon sandwich. That's really non-boring, non-mundane and certainly high quality...right. I guess I won't be taking any of her 'advice' any time soon!

When I first started at Bubblews there was a group of people who thought that the writings of most people weren't good enough for them and aspired to great and lofty things. I don't pay attention to people like that. Everyone has to write what they wish, and abilities will vary. It's like the self-proclaimed "grammar nazis" who use atrocious grammar. Best to avoid excessive scrutiny by being accepting of everyone. Why raise the standard to which you will be held?

I wanted to leave the person a nasty comment in reply, but I gritted my teeth and didn't. Next time, l will speak volumes.

AnjaP people like that are not to be trusted, what makes them think they are so much better than others anyway.

you would think she would be grateful to know of other sites even if she chooses not to visit them - it's her loss

Was she a native English speaking lady? I mean, boring may mean something different from some other language. May be she needs to be enlightened about the meanings of those words.

She is listed as USA so 'hopefully' she speaks and understands English....she sure used the word mundane and that's not a normal word for many to use.

Wow, not a bacon sandwich though. I try to make my posts as interesting as possible on my blogs. That way nobody can tell me that they won't take my advice. I'm still new here, but this is definitely the type of conversation that I would want to get involved in. I think that the issue may have been that she didn't have any people that she was following yet because I can see how that would be boring on a site like this.

Some people like to complain. But I do remember when this site was first suggested to me I visited and wasn't initially impressed. That was in my early days on PP. Do you still write there? I'm pleased to say I changed my mind here as soon as I started participating. In fact, I quite forgot PP and mow only log in there long enough every mow and then to keep my membership current.

@valmnz the reason i joined mylot was because it was a casual discussion site, not a writing site. maybe they were expecting mylot to be a writing site for long serious topics with their intellectual equals. but as you can see, there are no rules or requests from the owners/admin to check our spelling, grammar, capitalization, punctuation, paragraphs and spaces. there's also no editor to approve it before submission.

@hereandthere Editors went out the window a long time ago. When you write online, in most cases, you are your own editor.

@hereandthere Although everything you said is true, I think everyone should write to the best of their ability no matter if it is here, on Facebook or whatever. This is also a good place for non-English speaking people to improve their English (if they want to of course.)
