Some days I feel bad that I write here

United States

Why would I say that you ask? Because I know for a fact that there are people here that truly need the $10 or $20 bucks to help get by. So I think, maybe I should just move on and let 'them' get what I've been earning. Then again, there are other options for earning money so, never mind, I think I'll keep my money since I will donate it anyway to a lab rescue group.

I suggest that you think of it this way. We aren't paid for posting here (I hope that's clear to everyone by now!), we are paid when someone interacts with what we post, so, effectively, what we are doing here when we respond to people's discussions and comment on people's responses is giving away money to other people (who may, indeed, need it more than we do). When you post a discussion here, you are also giving people the opportunity of responding and if you like and comment on their response, THEY are earning from what you do as well as you. So don't ever feel bad that you write here (or do all the other things that you do as an active, interactive member!) You are giving at least as much as you are getting - and it's all someone else's money, legitimately earned and legitimately calculated so that everyone gets a due share.

That's probably a good way to explain it and you should cut and paste that comment into a discussion since I think it would be beneficial to everyone to read. Thanks!

Interesting @yukimori I have ignored that tab so far. I will start paying closer attention. You and @owlwings rock. Thanks for all this information

@rebelann That would likely limit your earnings because the conversation will end at that point. Responding to comments left on your discussions is a way to continue the conversation. It increases the opportunities for interaction with other members because it invites them to return and add additional comments. It can also determine if your discussion appears on the Hot tab, because the discussions there are the most active.

I don't understand you. Who'd benefit financially if you stopped writing here? Would myLot HQ send the money you might have earned if you had written so-and-so many posts to needy people?

I don't know what's not to understand...I speak well! If I stopped writing someone else would take my spot and earn the money. that's all I'm saying.

I don't think that way. I use this earnings for donations. I try to pay for a kid's education and an elderly person's upkeep. I have been doing it for almost 11 years now. Last year I increased the payment, and this year I continued paying at a higher rate. Of course, taxes eat away some. So I accommodate taxes and donations. Agreed many are helpless. But do they have access to computer? Or can they write? Type? No. So why don't I donate my labor to them? That is my attitude.

If you were to go, others would earn less, not more. It's your interaction on their posts that help them increase their earnings.

In reality, you're probably helping someone who needs the money because you provide posts and ideas that help them respond and create posts of their own. I don't need the money, either (if I did, I'd do something else), but it's fun and it's not hurting anyone.

I don't think you leaving would give anyone else that money anyway. And rescue groups would all welcome it!

I enjoy the interaction here which in turn earns for me. I too do not depend on these earnings for my survival. In fact I have a Trust where my money is for reaching out to the needy.

I am a lab lover and while we are a one dog family (at our age!) my husband said no more dogs...so to help save others I donate for their care. Then I feel like I am helping.

But then again they need you here for interaction. Your being around, commenting on their posts and responses helps them make the coins, don't you think?

I don't look at the money on the site as the sole reason I write here. I think the money is an added benefit and nice to have. I personally like to write and interact. The money is a nice added bonus for sharing your information. I am a believer that all information share - you should earn something from it. I write for people and they pay me to do this. I also help people in my line of work that are new to what I do and just learning. They pay me to help them too. Just look at it like this you'll have a few extra dollars to help a good cause - plus you'll have fun interacting with people here on the site.

@poehere At this point I don't remember LOL! Sometimes people don't get what I say and that happens both ways. No problem.

I didn't say money was my only reason for being here, but that I don't think should be taking it away from others. Interacting is fun and I know something about many of you now.

@AbbyGreenhill Please I know this one. I understood what you said. You said that you felt guilty about this because you thought others needed the money. I did read carefully what you said. I also read how you want to stay because you enjoy it here and the money you do earn from here you will donate. I was just trying to say that I like the site and I like to interact. Furthermore, I was also trying to say people pay for information. That's a second part of this site. They pay you some for your interactions and your contributions. I hope I said it right this time. I am sorry if I stated it wrong before.

Don't you dare leave. You're not taking money away from anyone. You interact and keep the ball rolling here. That helps everyone make money - and I personally find you very entertaining!
