I am interacting with a whole lot of lovely people here but most of the time I do not know whether they are a girl or a boy. Someone thought I was a boy. Never mind!!! I do not have any thoughts about anyone. I just interact. What about you? .

Yes, on the old myLot and especially when I was a new user with very few posts (mostly in general nature) most would think I'm a young male of which I've never bothered to correct them either. They'd addressed me with "man" or "dude"...

I also thought you were a boy but that did not change my thinking while responding!

@sishy7 Hey "dude" - ha ha! I wonder if they assumed you were a young male because of the Doraemon avatar?

@much2say Could be... And I held up talking about my family for as long as I could on here. I think it was not until I became a bubbler that people started to get a clearer idea...

I find the majority of members, at least the ones that I know, tend to have names that infer a gender. I do remember a time many years ago when several members here used female usernames despite being male, although I never did understand why. I suppose that my username qualifies as one of those that does not signify my gender, although it would not be difficult for people to realise that I am an old male fool after reading my posts.

@allknowing Oh of course. In my case the avatar does give my gender away even though it is not a photograph of me.

I have just been addressed as a man, but I'm a woman. My Panama hst is responsible for that.

Well, whenever I interact with people on myLot who don't have a gender-based profile picture, I don't actually judge them whether they are boys or girls. Interaction is what's important regardless of the genders anyway. He he. Kudos~

Mostly it should not matter. I have been fooled by some but not often. I go look at profiles if it has any relevance I try to find out from other discussions.

Sometimes I do that if I have enought time like say about half an hour to do as I wish. Its what they write that counts for me too.

Back in the day, they were people that actually pretended to be a girl, and then posting naughty but not to the point of violating the rules. From them on, I just chose to interact and be more careful with how I answer the questions. .

I'm often confused, until they mention their wife or some other telling detail. Many names are not obvious. It doesn't really matter, other than getting to know the person a little better.

Even the reference to a wife does not constitute a guarantee that they are male.

I do like to know a person's gender, and I've had a couple of people just these last couple of days think I was male.

It's not a big deal because in English if you write to someone "you" it goes both for male and female. In Hebrew the second--person personal pronoun (singular) "you" splits for f. And m. For a male you say in Hebrew "Ata" and for a female "at".

@EllaSpringtimeWe learn about that when we are doing our abc. Even in Hindi we have that kind of a pronoun that is used for both genders.

It only shows men and women could think alike if we cannot identify who it is.

@allknowing and when you say "you" you approach the soul of the person and not his/her gender. That is one of the wonderful things in English.

That is funny. I just respond back to people and go on. I don't really give it a lot of thought when their images or name is not one gender or the other so it makes it like a surprise when you do interact with them.
