My Amazon Bargain

United States
December 20, 2015 12:49pm CST
Every year I get a new calendar - and it's always one with "Labs". I guess it's been 20 years or more that I do this. This year, my husband went looking for one and no luck. He said they had all other dog breeds but no labs. I told him I would get one online. So I went to Amazon, found one for $5.40. I had a $5 Amazon gift card from CrowdTap, so that left 40 cents which I paid for with my Discover Card bonus money. I have Amazon Prime, so no shipping. So basically I paid 40 cents for the calendar and it will be here the 22nd. I love bargains and since I didn't actually spend cash money it's more like a free calendar!

I buy my books from Amazon. I can buy a book on there for 0.01 and then get the shippping all for one gift card and have some left over. Nice. I sure like Amazon.

@AbbyGreenhill ....Sounds like a good deal to get your shipping free if you use the service quite a bit.

@celticeagle I have used it enough that it more than paid for the $100 it costs for a year.

@Jessicalynnt One of those erasable ones? My parents had a giant one they used and it worked well.

I'm sure of it. Search on Amazon, of course, but there are plenty of places that would sell them. There are also plenty of places where you can find virtual ones online.

I find myself wondering what the "Labs" referred to actually are.

@AbbyGreenhill Oh, now I understand. You could always collect pictures and create one of your own.

@Asylum Years ago the county we lived in had a photo contest...one dog was picked for the cover and they picked 4 for each month. Our previous lab, Abby, was one of the 4 for July that year. She was in her tube floating in the pool. Everyone loved it and we bought about 2 dozen calendars!

I think I saw some calendars with labs on them. I buy calendars for my girls every year. They don't use them to write on. They like the pictures and they like to be able to glance at it for a date, but all their scheduling they do in their phones. I don't use the calendar in my phone. I have a dry erase calendar on my fridge that I look at 5 times a day. If I didn't I would miss something. I also got a free Canadian Cancer Society calendar in the mail which I am using for my scheduling. I transfer everything on there onto the dry erase board. Amazon Prime costs a membership fee, doesn't it? I haven't really looked into it.

@AbbyGreenhill They stream movies too, don't they? I have heard of it but never looked into it because I don't use Amazon enough. Usually only around Christmas.

@patgalca I don't watch movies on my computer, I much rather watch a TV.

Amazon Prime is $100 (or maybe 99) a year and members get free shipping and some items are discounted a little. If you use Amazon a lot its totally worth it...you can check it out on their site.

We went to the local co-op yesterday, they have a gift shop type area, lots of Christmas decorations, etc. (on sale 40 percent off) and I asked the man, "Do you have calendars?" and he handed me one of theirs LOL. I said no not a free calendar, one you buy. They don't stock them.

When I bought our chicken feed last time, I got a free country animals calendar plus a cute metal red sign that showed a hen and said: "I love my girls! All cause I habitually go in there and buy chicken and dog chow.

There are many ways to get calendars - buy some, get some free, but when you specialize you have to do a little paw work (like leg work!) to find them.

@sallypup I know what you mean. I saved some for years, not sure why, then tossed them.

@AbbyGreenhill One year I paid a good amount of money for an Australian Cattle Dog calendar. Of course after the year was over I then had one more thing that I did not want to toss.

Nice that you got a bargain. I never purchase calendars. Our local pharmacy hands them out for free. Sometimes we get them as gifts too. Often times we have way too many to hang up and end up giving them to family members.

@AbbyGreenhill I love butterflies, and often will have a calendar gifted to us that has butterflies. Last year we had a fishing calendar that was gifted to my husband by my BFF. I guess I am just too cheap to buy a calendar. LOL.
