I know I have beaten this subject into the ground

THis morning I went into work to block the store. I have to go in again tonight to block and run back stock. I was calculating what extra needed to be done whilst I was blocking. I was also running various ways to form my resignation letter in my head. Yes, needless to say I was feeling the stress. I've asked for two days off in a row about three weeks from now. I gave it a bit of time so that its' more likely I"ll get the time off. I didn't give a reason but will give a reason to my manager when I see him Sunday night. I've said this over and over again lately but Something has got to give. I've got a lot on my mind in my home life as is, and work life is being so difficult. I'll be talking to my assistant tonight as well, and then my manager Sunday night. I have to lay it all out there for them and let them know how I am feeling. I felt physically sick this morning because of the stress, and I can't let that happen. I want to keep my job because I do enjoy it for the most part, but I can't let my health take toll from it. I hope that everyone's Christmas went well.or those who are on other sites, you may see me popping in. I've retained the accounts to many of my old earners and will be "acruing" time on them as I make my decision about work.

I was always told if you are stressed and having nightmares about the job, it is time to move on cause it is either your health or being miserable.. Hope things go better for you

I always try to stick it out but sometimes you just can't. I'll be having a heart to heart with my manager and letting him know where I stand.

Unfortunately it does not matter how much work "values" you, you are the one who must look out for yourself.

You are right. I just do not want to make a decision I might regret. I am trying to think of this as sensibly as I can. Even so, the decision may be taken away from me. I have to think of not just myself but my family as well in this instance.

When work affects health, it is time to quit. I do not think you need to give many reasons to tender resignation. You can just put down as family commitment or personal reason. If you put it down as work stress, they will say that everyone faces the same stress, why can't you just tolerate.

You are right. I know that if I Were to tell the complete truth, that the stress is killing me, they'd not want to hear it.

HUGS, if work is making you ill than it's time to let it go. I work in the same job for years and I grow to dislike it so much it was making me ill. I had an accident within work and was off work for a year, after that I told I didn't want to go back, best thing I've ever done. I'm hoping you are ok, I know from reading your post you don't sound like you are. Take care and look after yourself.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. With stress try doing some relaxation work, controlled breathing. i hope you are feeling less stress and hopefully your get the time off work which you need.

More than anything I am stressed. I give my all when I do a job, and work is starting to take those who "give there all" and reward them with picking up others slack. This isn't the first time a job has made me feel physically ill. I quit that one as well, and then was unemployed for several years afterwards. I have to consider my family as well because the family I live with are starting to deterioate in health. I am to be their caregiver and so it may come to a point where I have to quit so that I can take care of them. I am just glad I have other ways I can earn, albeit it won't be near the amount I make now.

I am sorry to hear you are having a hard time at the moment. Your job should not be affecting your health and you are right to look at having some time off if you can arrange it. Good luck I hope that they are sympathetic to you.

As it is now, I have Monday, Tuesday and Thursday's off. I know I should not complain but these working three days in a row (Fri, Sat, Sun) are starting to get to me. Not to mention that we are an unbalanced department with having to pick up another's slack. None of us are treated properly to be honest.

@poehere I don't know. My first move is to cut my hours down and supplement with online income. It will be a bit stressing but it will also give me time to do things I've been meaning / needing to do at home.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Can you find a new store to work in that would help you out more and stop all the stress you're having. Maybe go from groceries to retail stock it might help. A bit less stress on this one.

I know that is one thing I majorly need, time off. GOing down to twice a week will help, and if I ever need to go up on my hours I am sure they'll work with me. I talekd to the manager and he's going to let me do twice weekly. I have family to think of as well.

Unfortunately in that type of work they are going to mistreat you and use you. They aren't worried about you, they're worried about themselves. That's true of most jobs sadly. Though if you truly enjoy the job I wouldn't up and quit. Maybe just take a little vacation for now and then see how you feel.

I have 20 vacation hours available (paid) but they should be null and void in a few short days. I think they are gone if you don't use them within that year. I am going to talk to my manager and have less hours. He isn't going to like it and he will try to find a way to fix it with me but the truth is I need some time away from that place.

We shall see. It was somewhat frustrating last night and tonight will be the killer. I will be talkin got my manager tonight and letting him know that I need to lower my hours. That's going to be my first step I've decided.

I am sorry it is like that at work for you Narnia. I hope something can give so that you may be able to keep the job yet not suffer from health because of it. I understand jobs can do that.

I hope that something can be done, but I am not sure. I will be having two heart to heart sessions. One with the assistant and another with the manager. It doesn't help that the over head manager (over the entire store) doesn't care about us.

I have talked to my maanger and will be going down to twice a week. I have to wait until the new hires we are supposed to be getting get trained. According to what I've heard, these guys are actually used to stocking, which is more than what we've had in the past.

@TheHorse Yes. Part of the problem is that our entire department is suffering. The supervisor can only do so much, and he's been advocating for us to the manager of the store. The manager of the store does not seem to care. Of course there are some things that my own supervisor has done that I don't like and don't think is fair to the rest of us. Those things aside, he is still a good supervisor. This isn't the first time I've almost quit this job but it is starting to seem as if it might be the last and final time. I will be talking their ears off about it as well as some more personal matters.

I hope so as well, but as I've told a few others, I may have no choice but to quit. It's not just myself I am thinking of but family as well.

it's easier to handle if you only had stress/pressure in one area. but when you have both, it won't be long until it affects you physically.

I have had that happen before. I was working as a banquet server a few years back and it started to get where I was so stressed about work and the little time I had off wasn't helping.

The last time my job caused health concerns was when I was a banquet server. I have a lot on my mind, I'll be talking to the assistant manager tonight and then the manager tomorrow.
