Blocking in myLot - what it does/doesn't do

Since the Blockasauruses are roaming again, I thought I'd explain what blocking/being blocked does.
If you block someone:
-You can still see their discussions
-You can still respond on their discussions (but they won't see the response)
-You can still comment on responses to their discussions (they will see them)
-You can not see their responses in discussions
-You can see most comments they make in discussions started by other users
-You can still tag their discussions
-You can still report their discussions
-You can still like their discussions
-You can not message them
If you are blocked
-You can not respond to any discussions they start
-You can not comment to any responses or comments in their discussions
-You can not see responses they leave in discussions
-You can see any comment they leave in discussions they start
-You can see many comments they leave in discussions started by other people
-You can still tag their discussions
-You can still report their discussions
-You can still like their discussions
-You can not message, follow, or block them back
There may be a few items I missed, but I believe this covers most of it.

@JolietJake Oh, and there's messaging and blocking. Blocked users can't message or block the person blocking them. Blockers can unblock those they have blocked, of course. Can they still message them?

@owlwings They have to unblock them before they can message them

Should I feel left out now, because even you are blocked?!

@sishy7 I would think that I was, too, but I have not found anyone that has blocked me yet. It is not something that I do often, but once in a while I count the responders on a discussion to see whether or not I can see them all. Also, I have never tried to respond to anything and could not.

@purplealabaster I'd think that you are too - have you checked for certain that you're not?

That's a wonderful name you gave "Blockasauruses". It fits perfectly. Thanks for the information.

Blocking is just too much trouble. I think I will avoid it.

I remember most of this stuff but not all of it. I have actually been asked questions like this, so this discussion is good for informational purposes.

But surely Admin knows what they are doing and must have read all the countless posts that have been written on the subject. If they still feel that a block feature is needed who are we to object here?
Most in the community I am sure are not in favour

Blockasauruses Defined
There are two families of blockasauruses
Blockasaurhypocrites
Because there is more advantage to blocking than being blocked the predatory blockasaurhypocrites can play games and engage behind a mask of secrecy. They can also write rude commentaries about prey knowing full well there is little their victim can do about it.
Blockasaurdefenders
These are mainly grazing non meat eating solitarians. They prefer to stay away from the more aggressive areas and will never come close to or even desire to be next to a blockasaurhypocrite.

I am not going into reasons why people block people, that is nothing to do with what it does

Some people just live in lala land and nothing will get to them.

It's a shame you can't block the person back! I mean if someone blocked me then trash talk on my discussions...what can I do to deal with that? Nadda that seems very counter intuitive
