The New Interface

Though I am a bit confused with the new look of Mylot. I am so happy about it because it loads faster. I am not sure if they were were still using flash but It is now more mobile friendly and slow internet connection friendly. If you have slow internet connection and your only way to access the site is to disable pictures in your browser, the comments are not hidden anymore because they were not counted as picture on this new format. Yesterday I was so frustrated to use Mylot but now it is a smooth sailing. I am so happy that Mylot is using less flash or whatever it is that makes it slow. The site is now more text based than graphics based. I am not using a PC at this moment and I will check if it became faster with PC later.

Actually, there are graphics. Depending on the topic and the tags used, MyLot is picking huge header pictures. That may be what is slowing it down for you. It is faster, now that you mention it, but the pictures aren't slowing it down for me.

in the older format, the comments are considered pictures. Now the comments are only considered texts. That is why it is faster now.

I like the new myLot version for mobile layout because it's easier to comment. However, for computer/laptop version - I feel the layouts too wide. Especially the comment section!

The old 2009 era Mylot looks more similar to what we are using now. The last format we used is more similar to twitter and uses a lot of flash.

Remember the older format have those individual boxes where comments are placed. The removal of those boxes made things faster.

@T_gray at least there is a huge decrease on errors. We will be getting less errors though if this site will completely get rid of flash and use html 5 instead.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Right. I am hearing people are still having errors though. I don't think that will ever go away. I think that will happen from time to time.

@Daljinder this sounds ridiculous but the errors of the older format frustrated me beyond repair, I even end up screaming in front of my computer.

mylot has never been slow for me on my computer but it was very tough to work with on my cell phone browser. Now with the new changes they have done it is so easy to navigate with my phone. I have made quite a few posts and comments from my phone. I love it! I am really happy with these changes.

It's also good when you access it on a desktop. But yes, I like that the site now loads faster, has a cleaner layout, and is mobile-friendly.

I earned much more better too because the faster connection gave me more activity compared to the older site that gives me a lot of hell.

It sure loads a lot faster, though when someone uploads a picture to their discussions, it takes a long time for the picture to load. I think Mylot should make the picture slightly smaller, so that the page will load very fast.

I love pictures and I use pictures too but at the end of the day, the texts should be the one that loads first since this site focuses more on reading.I think pictures loads faster now in my case. I still have the occasional time out errors but it is not as annoying as it use to be.

If this is the older version, I wont be able to reply to you because I will be frustrated by the timeout errors.

It is the responsiveness that I like the most. I am not suffering with errors as much as I use to. The site loads faster now.

I'm using a laptop and I'm very happy with the new site. I used to get 'not responding' a lot, but haven't seen that in the few days that the new version has been up.

Who would have thought that removing some cutesy boxes that counts as pictures will make a huge difference. I feel more productive now after that change.

I didn't realize that the old mylot was so graphic driven. It does load faster as you've pointed out. I wouldn't have noticed these points if it weren't for you. Thanks.

The comments we make use to be inside those individual dirty white colored boxes. Those box are counted as pictures and they were the ones that slows down everything.

I'm fine with it; it's similar enough to make navigation easy, although it squished my avatar a bit. It's funny how BIG it looks on my large desktop monitor!
