Can You Take a Hint?

His mother was a very sweet woman with a very nice British accent. I really like her as my client. As I was showing her around the condominium building, her son came and joined us.
He asked me questions not related to the building at all and he seemed to be flirting with me. But I answered him politely and professionally. He was smart, took the hint and he checked out the units instead.
Can you take a hint when the person you're flirting with is not interested in you or are you like other people who just don't care and continue embarrassing yourself?

@Hatley lol that's a sweet memory. My husband I never flirted with each other. I guess it's because we were buddies. He treated me like one of the boys until he realized he was falling for me.

Me flirted with one and we got married... Ever since flirting sounds like a dreaded word
Okay, seriously, Today, I do not think and analyze hints. I have learned not to because I am mostly on the misinterpreting of things. I always have liked to be straightforward and expect the same. I have grown up to accept if there is a fault in me and I would prefer being told straight... because I know, I am mostly with friends here or there. I wear an open heart and expect the same from others.

@toniganzon @thesids - I am straight ..without specifying the name of the person...I do indicate what will not be ok with me. But people think as long as they are not named the rules do not apply to them. 
It does become difficult because we offer sincere friendships and after the direct approach, hints remain the only way to explain things but if the person does not take those, hurting the person remains the only way out of the predicament.

@vandana7 Does this apply with flirting too? Because when people flirt, they are not being direct either and some men would even deny it and say that it was just a joke.

There are men who would never admit to flirting and would just say they're just joking but one thing I've learned over the years is that joking is always half meant.

@toniganzon ya, I talk to guys a lot and have a lot of male friends. In general, I was always surprised when I find out later on they like me. I tend to be quite bad at picking these kinda vibes up

I also see and know some people around me who like to flirt with others, usually with young ladies. I have some colleagues who do so with those single ladies and vice versa. If it is among colleagues and friends, I think that it is ok. Usually people with sense of humour love it, I discover.

If someone was not interested in me, I did not continue to flirt with them. I don't flirt with anyone because I'm engaged. I think it's very wrong to continue to flirt with someone after they told you that they're not interested. I would hate it if someone kept flirting with me after I said 'no.'

He waited actually that the mother was distracted. The custodian was with us as well as his two cousins. He took the chance when we were alone to flirt with me. But then again, I was working and I don't flirt with clients. Too bad, he was good looking!

I don't actually flirt in real life. I just don't feel comfortable doing that. But I do flirt here in mylot but only to those friends who know it's just a joke.
