I just met a flat Earth Theorist

Calgary, Alberta

I know I am not suppose to make fun of someone's belief but I just met a person who believes the Earth is Flat. He thinks all of the Space footage showing earth is nothing but CGI. He also think all pictures of Earth were nothing but Photoshop and he is very deadly serious about it. I tried to debate him about it but he is being butthurt about it. He is still in denial. How I wish I am a Zillionaire. I would have given him a trip to the space station along his flat earth theorist friends. So why would the American government spends millions of dollars for CGI just to make everyone believe the Earth is flat.
The following 6-hour documentary is currently the most complete and comprehensive presentation of the Flat Earth truth available to date. Narrated by Eric Du...

@CaptAlbertWhisker 127 is a bit under average for a PhD student. I am not sure I would consult this doctor, even for a medical advice.

When I was young (very young) I thought that the earth was flat. My father had a hard time trying to show me a ball and explaining why it was safe to walk without the fear to fall "out of the earth".

Or he had never been in a ship. I had been in a ship before and the ocean doesnt look flat from afar,

I have a friend whose latest thing is that the Earth is flat (before that, Mars was inhabitable and NASA were covering that up by broadcasting pictures of living things on Mars to the entire population (not a very good cover-up in my eyes) and prior to that Earth was going to be destroyed by Planet X, a brown dwarf that we wouldn't see until it was too late). Every time he has a drink he keeps repeating this mindless drivel he's seen on YouTube, and he's impossible to argue with about it. Some people shouldn't use the internet. Heck, there's more chance that we're living in the Matrix. I worked out to cover-up the Earth being flat would require a conspiracy of approximately 7.4 billion people.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Easily disprovable theories (actually, they may not even be classed as theories, using the scientific definition). I keep telling him to take a telescope to the top of the hospital (the tallest building in the area) and tell me what he sees of a towns to the west of here. The land's flat, so he'd easily be able to see them. Everyone would have to be in on it, including the Flat Earth theorists themselves!

@egdcltd I realized the earth is around when I was 9 years old and I was on a cruise ship. I see the ocean looking spherical from afar.

I know some people who believes everything they see on Youtube but this one is the most mind blowing one I ever met. I mean Illuminati is much miore easier to believe than flat earth. I mean people who believes in Illuminati at least have some documents even though its hard to see their authenticity. Flat earth theorists only have theories.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Ice walls? With the earth warming up as much as it has been doing, these ice walls can't possibly stand for too long .

He seems to be someone who comes from a few centuries before I think today even children know the earth is not flat. There are quite a lot of news and domentaries about the earth and it is hard to believe that he thinks all of them are fake.

His religion might have something to do with it. There is a scripture on his holybook saying earth is flat.

@skysnap That man thinks dinosaur bones are fake that they were molded by scientists so people will stop believing in God. I have a religion but I believe dinosaurs existed.

Some people are so stuck in their beliefs that they don't want to accept any truths. How old is this person you were talking to? It seems as if they are pretty young to be believing in something so silly!

Why are you willing to show him the Earth is not flat? Can't he show you the Earth IS flat by having a ride to the edge of the world? It must be cheaper, I bet. What's from the other side of the flat Earth, by the way?

He said that the edge of the earth have walls made of ice. So we cannot escape or something. Talking to him is stressful and hilarious at the same time.

Wow! Honestly I never thought people like these were existed. This is the first time I heard about these theorists. But I have heard about theorists that say the earth is not going around the sun and the sun is going around the earth.

@DnkHrth LOL they think its CGI and Hollywood special effects. If I am super rich I want to give them a trip to the space station so they can see our planet is a ball and not a pancake.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I know a guy who thinks the world was created 5k years ago. His church is more devoted to "proving" that "theory" than they are to helping the poor, and other things that Jesus asked us to do. It's weird.

I'm currently listening to "Stupefy" by Disturbed, because that's how I feel... I am utterly stupefied by the fact that in 2016 there are STILL people who believe that the Earth is flat. How?! HOW?! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!

What? You mean the earth is not flat? This bit of earth I am standing on is flat. It must be flat. I am just off to Australia to prove it. Oh maybe not. I might fall off the end. Of course, they want us to believe the earth is flat or we all lose gravity. Seriously :)

I think this person is just "nagpapansin" or seeking for attention, that's why he believe on that. You're just wasting your time if you will continue arguing with him. His belief is not base on sound reason. Just my thoughts.

He is actually serious about it. He is blushing red in anger when I try to point out how wrong he is.
