Imvery liucky to have a son who cares and comes to see 'me. Some here have adults children who spend too much on gifts yet rarely just come to visit their parent here. Don't you know its not things they want from you buit some of your time. ""Spend an huir or two just talking and visiting with your elderly parent or grand parentas that is more delightful for your kin than some expensive do dad thjat they do not need. You wjo always visit your parent or grandparent I do applaud' you as your presence is the best gift you could ever give them. One original post and graphic bu P Hatley cppyrighted 2016

I agree that the best gift we can give is time.

It is sad when people "put away" older folks and won't visit them. We used to visit an "old folks home" when I was young and I remember how sad some of the people seemed to be. I didn't realize why at the time.

I regularly visit my parents. They get annoyed with us visiting so often! Well, Mother does. They're not exactly elderly. They are 61 and 69 so I suppose they're getting on a bit. My partner isn't elderly either but it would still be nice if his girls would visit sometimes. They are a long way away and have their own lives. I know it's difficult for them but it makes me sad that they don't seem bothered about him. I really hope that I can change that, and persuade him to visit them. The eldest used my partner's illness as an excuse for not wanting him to travel down to visit her. I'd rather he made that decision or if the girls wanted to see him, they could meet use half way or something. I know my boys love him but, in a way, that makes it worse that he's missing out on his daughters and granddaughter, and my boys are missing out on their sisters and niece. Sorry, I went off on a bit of a tangent there.

It is so sad to think of people who live in places like where you live and do not have any visitors. My heart goes out to them.
