~2 Month Check Up~

Josiah

Good morning everyone. I'm sorry this is longer than usual but it's about Josiah's health. My little Josiah had his 2 month old check up yesterday. I had so much to do that I didn't even have much time to come here. I was cleaning the house, I gave both the babies a bath and shortly after we left for his appointment. By the time we got home I was tired and overwhelmed by everything. He weighs 10 pounds, 9 ounces now! He is getting so big. He has a hernia in his stomach. The doctor said for now they are going to keep an eye on it to make sure it goes away. If not we will have to take him to a specialist. He also needs to go to a neurosurgeon for his head though. =( He was born with an oval shaped head and I thought with time it would re-shape itself. It hasn't though so his doctor wants him to see the specialist. There is a name for a baby born with an oval shaped head and it was called sagittal craniosynostosis, if the helmet doesn't correct it by 4 months old he may need surgery. I told Josiah last night you have until 4 months old to get your act together mister! Lol. I am sure everything will be fine with him. Anytime you hear surgery and a baby though it's concerning-especially when it's MY baby. For now we will just keep praying that he is okay and will be. I don't want to be one of those parents who think-it could never happen to my child and then it does. So, I am keeping an open mind, praying and remaining hopeful until he's 4 months old. If everyone could keep us in your prayers that would be great. =)

@dodo19 Thank you. The specialist for his head he needs to go to right away. But he might not need surgery after he gets the helmet.

@Juliaacv No Julian had a kidney infection and he was in the hospital for a few days from it. They thought he also might need surgery but thank God everyone's prayers were answered and he didn't need it. =)

As you know, a lot of problems correct themselves on their own in a young baby, so I hope this will be the case with Josiah. Good luck.

My middle child had an umbilical hernia ( an outie) that did not spontaneously close. She did crunches and other prescribed exercise. When she was five they repaired it.

@Morleyhunt They repaired it by surgery you mean? How did it go?

@Morleyhunt Wow, thank you. That makes me feel better knowing what it will be like and knowing she was just a little sore the next day.

Prayers for him and for you. I am sure that things will work out just fine. The helmet will probably correct the shape of his head and the hernia should repair itself. to you! I know what it is like dealing with little ones that have daunting health issues. When the twins were two months old that got RSV that eventually developed into asthma. Adam fell at 18 months old and put a huge gash in his head and later on started having seizures. Slow down and take a deep breath. Deal with each issues one at a time. Following the doctor's orders and praying sure helps a whole lot too!

You have my best thoughts coming your way. My daughter was born with a heart defect, a hole between two chambers, that was diagnosed and checked until she was 17 months old, then she had open heart surgery. We were up with her every night for those 17 months trying to feed her so she would gain some wait. She was failing to thrive until the surgery, which made a huge difference. They continued to check her until she was 12 and declared her well.

Does he already wear the helmet? I have known a few that wore the helmet and it seemed to work well. I hope there is no need for surgery. Take care.

Praying for you guys. My daughter was born with medical problems. It's never easy when you find out something like that. Im thankful and always remind myself, it could of been worse than it is.
