~The Results Are In From Josiahs Ultrasound~

Hey everyone. The doctor called and gave us the news. I knew it was a little strange that they called the day after the test when they told me most likely it would be 3 days before we heard back from them. Josiah has hydrocephalus. Which means he has too much fluid around his brain. If it's not caught early it could cause brain damage or death. We are still going on June 26th to see the neurosurgeon and to make sure he agrees with the diagnosis and treatment. Right now they are saying he will need surgery to get rid of the fluid. I know God can change the situation and I'm praying if he does have surgery that God will protect him.

Hydrocephalus isn't the awful thing it used to be thanks to modern medicine. There are a lot of things they can do to correct or control your son's condition so don't worry yet, ok? Every child is precious to God and every child has a purpose. God chose you to be this child's parents so you know that whatever comes, you can handle it. And since He loves you all, I'm sure that you will have good news. I just don't understand why your appointment is so far away. I'm going through the same thing with my adult son, he needs a pacemaker for his slow heartbeat and malfunctioning valves and they test, test, test and take weeks and in the meantime his heart is slower every week. I feel like calling them and asking them what's wrong with them, don't they know my child is precious and I am a nervous wreck? Is that kind of how you feel? Keep the faith, it will be alright.

@dragon54u I'm trying to keep from worrying but it is tough. I'm staying in prayer about it. I do feel like the appointment is too far away. They said that's the earliest appointment they have! =( Yes I'm nervous but praying for the best. Thank you.

@lovingmybabies Jennifer, I wanted to come back and tell you that one of our best US authors, a Native-American born very poor on the Spokane Indian Reservation, was born with hydrocephalus too. Sherman Alexie had surgery at age two, and grew up to have a family and be a great writer of many books and a new autobiography. Link to an interview he did this week with Terry Gross:
Alexie is excited for a new generation of Native American writers to come on the scene, "so I don't have to answer all the questions," he says. His new memoir is You Don't Have to Say You Love Me.

@andriaperry Yes and it has to be changed every so often to avoid infection so it would be more than just one surgery if this needs to be done.

@LovingMyBabies Tony`s Uncle had one after a brain injury, now he has it from now own but his is like a drain that goes into his sinus cavity or something like that. I hope the baby wont have to have the surgery, the word surgery is scary, always.
