My “Lawn Mowing Loving” Neighbor

My neighbor is a “lawn mowing loving” person. He loves mowing his lawn. Nearly every other day he is out there mowing his lawn. Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with keeping your lawn up. But one day this guy went out and put the sprinkler on his lawn. He let it run there for about forty-five minutes when he shut it off. Then ten minutes later I heard his lawnmower running. I looked out the window and sure enough he was mowing the wet grass. If you ever mowed wet grass you know it sticks to the undercarriage of the lawnmower. This neighbor pulled his lawnmower out on the street, banged it up and down while the mower was running to knock off the wet grass. And of course he never cleaned it up. I guess as cars drove over the grass it stuck on the tires and was carried away. Maybe the guy has OCD and can’t help himself. Or many be he hates watching the grass grow. At this time of the year I only mow my lawn once every two weeks. It just doesn’t grow that fast even if it is watered frequently. In the spring when it rains more often I mow my lawn once a week. It really doesn’t need to be mowed more often than that. How often do you mow your lawn?

That guy must be my former landlord. He was insane with the mowing of the grass and wet grass as well...sprinkler on and mowing. Nuts. I don't have to mow as I do not have a lawn Richard.

We have a neighbor who really loves to cut his lawn. As tomorrow is Sunday, he will no doubt be out there around 8 a.m. making some noise @RichardMeister Maybe we will video him and put in on you tube!

Luckily my neighbor usually mows his lawn around 10 a.m. I don't have to worry about making too much noise when I mow my lawn–I have a battery powered mower.

We only have the front yard to do (the back is literally all dirt - besides some pesky weeds) - and that we mow maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks. Correction: Hubby mows it . I can't imagine what your neighbor mows . . . at that rate he doesn't even give the lawn a chance to grow! Geez, I wonder how often he gets his hair cut !

@RichardMeister Why in the world is he cutting the lawn that often - and watering it for so long too? Exercise? Hobby? Maybe he likes the smell of freshly cut grass .

@much2say I'm thinking it's more of an OCD thing.

I can't answer the hair cut question because I don't know him that well. But, yeah, the grass doesn't have a chance to grow.

That's about how often most people do it here in the spring but once every two weeks is what most do in the summer here since there isn't that much rain.

That's strange. Most people here do it once a week.

Yes, that's more reasonable.

Every month. Maybe he is very fastidious about everything - including his lawn.

I don't think that's it. His porch is cluttered with stuff.

Not often...we haven't had a lot of rain until this weekend so it hasn't needed it that much. I have only mowed a few times this summer. I am sure a few more times will be in order...before all is said and done.

Ours generally requires mowing every week from March through November (it seems like).

Of course, one may have the choice of cleaning. But, should also maintain some cleanliness outside. They can not keep or throw it on the road. It is similar to Indian culture where people throw the dust and other unused items on the street unmindful of the civic sense.

Very strange. My husband used to mow it twice a week when he could. Now he doesn't have the opportunity to because he just isn't home early enough to do so. He likes it to be short though so I know he doesn't like the look of our yard even though it is respectably short.

I run my lawnmower on the highest setting. It is better for your lawn. It will retain water longer. I like how the lawn looks when it is cut at the highest setting.
