Looking for stories today the first one I found brought tears to my eyes. A story in Today on Monday, September 18 caught my attention. Titled Grieving Grandfather Makes Sweet Gesture While Shopping. Owen Hacker is an 18 month old toddler who loves telling people Hi and Bye. He was in Target with his mother when he yelled out Hi to an elderly grandfather as he was in a shopping cart playing with three stuffed dinosaurs. He went up to the boy and started playing with him and his dinosaurs, and then reached in his wallet and pulled out $20 and put it in Owen's shirt pocket and told his mother to buy all three of those dinosaurs. He told Owen's mother, with tears in his eyes, that he had just lost his two-year-old grandson the previous week. Owen's mother was so touched by what the man did, that she did just that, bought those dinosaurs, then posted the encounter on Facebook saying there are still nice people in the world today. That post has been seen 105 thousand times. You can read the full story below. https://www.today.com/parents/mom-recounts-sweet-encounter-between-her-2-year-old-old-t116412 My second story today comes from USA TODAY, Friday, September 22 Alyssa Patrias has Down syndrome and had a heart defect that needed surgery when she was only 10 weeks old. Alyssa Patrias accomplished what no one else with Down syndrome ever did before - compete in a Miss Michigan pageant, which ultimately leads to the Miss America Pageant. Miss Patrias competed in other non-competitive pageants before for people with and without disabilities. This would be the first pageant that would lead to a crown. Miss Patrias practiced everything she needed to do for the competition. She competed in every aspect of the competition, and though she didn't win a crown, she was voted Miss Congeniality by unanimous decision of the other contestants. Miss Patrias is active in other special needs activities including an All Kids Matter pageant. It was from that pageant she was encouraged to compete in the Miss Michigan pageant. You can read her full story below. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/humankind/2017/09/22/pageant-competitor-down-syndrome-makes-history/692246001/ Thanks for reading.

I love stories like this, we need more of this in our lives. Not all the doom and gloom they like to broadcast on the news day in and day out.
