How many of you enjoy reading true crime stories by Ann Rule? She is one of my favorite authors. I thought I had read all her books until I ran across " Fire and Ice" at the library last week. It must have been her last book published before her death. Many of you probably followed the story on the news during the time it took place. I hadn't heard until I read the book. Josh Powell, abusive husband, Steve Powell, a sexually perverted father in law, Chuck and Judy Cox, grieving parents, and Susan Powell, a missing mother of two young children. Ann rule doesn't leave out a detail. It happened on December 6, 2009, in West Valley City, Utah when the young mother was reported missing from her home in the middle of a cold winters night.

I'm surprised I've never heard of Ann Rule, considering I love true crime stories. I'll have to check her out and read some of her work.

@RubyHawk Well maybe in certain circles she is very well known and respected. If she's a best-selling author, then someone out there really appreciates her work!

@moffittjc. It's a surprise to me that people weren't aware of Ann Rule. She was the best of the best. She had the knack of finding all the details and background of everyone involved..

Maybe I'll look this book up. The world is so gruesome now without getting more details....

@RubyHawk True. One of my brothers was into body building. I think the cops questioned him for a while around the Ted Bundy time.

It is, but crimes hold my attention. It's interesting how some people are so brazen and full of themselves they think they will never be caught and how investigators dig out the clues and catch them.

@sallypup I think the story about Ted Bundy was Ann Rules most famous book. He wasn't suspected for so long. And his co workers couldn't believe it could be him.

The benefits of keeping track of every book you read... just checked my list and back in February of 1989 I read Small Sacrifices by Ann Rule. I haven't read another of her books since.

@Ipatgalca I can't remember all her books I've read. But Ithought I'd read them all until I found this one. If I kept a record of all the books I've read I would have hundreds. Love Ann Rules books.

@snowy22315 All crime stories are sad. But it's interesting to follow a crime story from beginning to end and learn all the details of everyone envolved.

I am gonna have to read that book. I have read a few books by Ann Rule, and she is a good author. The weirdest thing though was that she worked with Ted Bundy in a help center...OMG how uncanny! That spurred the book The Stranger Beside Me. I am familar with that case it has been on the ID channel, and Dateline or something I think.

Yes, she had such faith in Bundy that she couldn't believe he was actually a murderer until it couldn't be denied. She wrote so many interesting true crime books.

@RubyHawk He was a true Jekyll and Hyde for sure..that is partly why so many women trusted him..He was handsome, disarming and intelligent..and often used a fake cast.

I really used to enjoy Rule's books.I read the one about Ted Bundy that I believe she wrote. Because of my cataract I have gotten out of the habit of reading like I used to do. Now I watch the three crime networks on cable. ID, Justice Network and now the new one, Oxygen. Lots of good stories.

@RubyHawk - I love Ann Rule's books, but I have not read "Fire and Ice." I have read several of her books. My two favorite were "The Stranger Beside Me" (about Ted Bundy) and "If You Really Love Me." The latter one is the story of Cinnamon Brown whose father talked her into murdering her step-mother when she was in her early teens. What makes that book special to me is that our family actually met Cinnamon Brown when we were on vacation once at Squaw Valley in California. She had a crush on my cute nephew and she spent time with us nearly every day for a week. We didn't realize who she was until a few months later, when I read the book. It was pretty shocking. I gave my copy of the book to my nephew for him to read. He was very surprised!

@RubyHawk - No, we met Cinnamon Brown when she was in her early 20s, AFTER she had spent her teen years in juvenile detention for the murder of her step-mother. That is what made it feel so creepy ... knowing that she had killed someone, but only finding out about it after we had her to our condo for dinner and spent some time almost every day with her for a week.

Sounds like a good book. Though I'm not into True Crime, I have a friend who is and would like that book. She writes that kind of book, or is working on it. She's not published yet. Surprised to see that title as it's also the title of a book I started many years ago and is still only in the first chapter. Good thing titles aren't copyright.

@RubyHawk Or less. I have seen other books with the same titles. I was surprised when I checked my book Scarred by name instead of author and found so many books by that title, I couldn't find mine, so I learned then to put my name in the search bar so I could get to my books. I just checked that title on Amazon and found 7 with that exact title and I didn't see Ann Rule's book, so no doubt there are even more than that.

That's amazing. What are the chances you and Ann Rule would choose the same title, about 1 on 10,000?
