One Evil Three Side Effects

I really do hate to go to the doctor for myself and I will do my own home remedies before I see a doctor, If I am failing and need mans manufactured medications. These drugs have so many side effects its unreal. This time a doctor was called for, I cannot remember itching so much in my entire life. I got pills, no shots just pills. One strong antihistamine and the steroids ( the V pack). The one evil is the rash, the allergic react to the oils in a vine, it looks like I got splattered with hot grease and I have red whelps, some with blisters filled with water. on my chin and my double chin its not so bad, more whelps and no blisters, my arms have blisters. The three side effects are: I am diabetic and steroids will jack my blood sugar sky high. That is why I did not get the shot, and I have to do it slowly, suffer slowly. Second is the steroids makes me move! I feel like I cannot sit still! Last night I cleaned house for three hours! PLUS they make me feel as though I am starving and I am constantly eating, I noticed this so I began to eat cucumbers and fresh foods, but only after attacking potato chips and a cheese sandwich with pickles. When I looked at the clock and it read " 2:36 am" I could not believe it was this late and I was still wide awake, Now this is where the strong antihistamine comes in, You have to have this to knock your butt out! Its been so long since I have been on this type of medications its freaking me out! How do people take pills and deal with all this.... mind blowing crap?! Lesson learned! Kill all the poison oak and ivy! with vinegar and salt, if that does not work I will go by the cancer inducing round up that should kill it all! I am not made to be a pill head. Have you ever experienced this type of reactions to medications?

I hate to take medications, I have a faster heart beat and most medications worsen this condition. I hope you can kill all the poison oak and ivy. Good luck.

@andriaperry A doctor prescribed Voltaren to reduce inflammation, the component is Diclofenac. This is very bad for people with heart problem. When I had the first pill I thought I was going to die. Now I always inform not to give me anything containing Diclofenac.

I absolutely HATE taking medicine of any kind. I have always been this way. I had an abscess in my mouth before and the doctors told me I needed to take everything they prescribed for me but I hated every second of it. The pain medicine made me feel like I was loopy, I could not even use the bathroom on my own-hubby helped me and I only took a quarter of what they told me to take!! I only take advil if I have a severe tooth ache or migraine. Other than that I don't take medicine and hopefully I will never have to although I'm sure as I age it might happen...unfortunately.

@andriaperry I wish you the best of luck getting it back down. I am hoping my genes will not come to haunt me since most of my family is on something for pain or an illness. =(

Yes, every medication I take, I get a bad reaction and so I try to avoid them. I keep working on prevention as I know that I have no other choice. Like you, I resort to medications only when I have no other choice and they usually make things worse.

I have been luck in that as far as I know up to today I have no allergies. I also thank the Lord every day that I don't need any medication. I too prefer natural remedies if needed. So I keep saying all my prayers. I hope you get it all cleared up and don't have to take that awful medication anymore. I will put in a prayer for you and sending you many blessings.

Medications have often side effects. I guess we must measure the importance of them in relation to the good that we will have.

I always try natural first, if that does not work I will go see a doctor but some of them are crazy, money hungry people and give stuff to make you have to keep coming back.

Wow that is some scary stuff. These days the medication commercials are so long because now they are required to list all the side effects. The side effects are sometimes scarier than what you are taking the pill for. I hope you get over this quickly but I know it can be weeks long. Good luck.

I have major issues with a lot of medications. I usually take Claritin when it seems like allergies to see if that helps since i am also allergic to Benedril. Hope something starts working better for you so you feel better soon.

I know this about steroids and diabetics. My cold symptoms last winter were so bad that we did a round of steroids. As long as I was on the steroids, the symptoms were controlled, but came right back. Those same antihistamines that usually knock you out CAN backfire and wire you the same as the way the steroids do. Kill the weeds with bleach as well as vinegar and salt. See if you can find some salve with calendula. Even better, calendula and plantain and lavender. It is very effective on skin irritations.

Avoid the poision vines! I've not taken Steroids in a long time. I don't remember them making me extra energetic. I hope its a side effect that passes for you while you're taking the meds.

I hate, hate, HATE taking meds. I have terrible medication anxiety. But, sometimes I have no choice. I take only a few medications currently -- birth control for endometriosis, muscle relaxer for migraines, Pepcid for GERD, vitamin D for a vitamin D deficiency. And I just started Zoloft to treat my depression/anxiety/OCD. The only time I can recall a medication making me feel antsy was Paxil, which I only took for a week. It made my heart race and I could not sleep while I was on it. Mostly I have problems with medications making me dizzy or sleepy. One med (or it might have been a combination of two meds I was on at the time) turned me into a zombie when I was 17. I don't remember most of my last year of high school because of it.
