I made a huge mistake that may cost Keith his job! For some reason, I turned the 4:30 alarm on my phone off yesterday when we woke up to get him ready for work. I don't remember doing this and it was totally a mistake on my part. We did not get up until 6 am this morning. That is the time he is supposed to be at work! The 6 am alarm is for when the kids get up. I feel so bad and he is upset with me (understandably) and I am just praying they don't fire him at the end of the end of the day. Please pray he does not lose his job.

I don't rely on my phone to get up. The alarm clock is on hubbies side of the bed. He's a big boy and can get himself up.... Now that sounds unsympathetic....my husband wrecked the work truck a mere four weeks after he was hired....a second one, six months later.. We were worried....he worked for that employer for 20+ years.

@Morleyhunt he is a big boy but I try to be supportive. I get him up and then make his lunch and his coffee for the day, sometimes his breakfast if he wants any. I apologized over and over to him. I am a wreck now worried about it all. It is good to know that your hubby kept his job. I am afraid that this job is a highly sought after job through a temp agency. I am worried.

OMG, that's awful. Maybe you'd be better off having 2 alarms set up, one for Keith and one for the kids. I pray he doesn't lose his job.

@rebelann1949 yes, we do have two alarms but one is set for 4:30 and one for 6 am. You can bet your bottom dollar that tonight I will double check that the earlier alarm for Keith is set.

Oh my gosh I am sorry to hear this. Since he is newer at the job this makes him look bad. I hope the boss will be understanding and give him the three strike rule.

Oh my goodness, I would never trust my phone to wake up early in the morning. I have a traditional alarm that I check every night before turning off my night lamp.

@LadyDuck I am afraid that I am the opposite. I do not trust the alarm clock. It is very temperamental. Rest assured that before I go to bed tonight, I will be checking my alarm for the morning.

@Shellyann36 I have the same alarm clock from 25 years, it never failed once. But to be sure, there is another identical on the night table of my husband, one can fail, two is impossible. All people I know who rely on their phones have problem sooner or later.

@paigea I pray that they don't. They are very strict there and it is a temp job.

I hope it all turns out okay. He is a good employee and it would seem really strange to me for them to fire him over missing an hour or two one time.

Since I went and read your other discussion I can see why you worry. It is a new job and he probably is on probation. How did it go?

I will hope for you, but would they really fire him for being late one day? I certainly hope not. I don't think he should blame you. Isn't he just as responsible for his own getting up?

@CinnamonGrl thank you. He has only been with the company since the 6th of November. The job is through a temp agency and the positions are very sought after. I am so worried. I try to be supportive and get him up, make his lunch and get his coffee ready and make breakfast if he wants it.

I'm sorry it happened but I think if this was the first event with him being late, it will be forgiven. Fingers crossed and prayers for you and your family,

I hope it does not at all. Hopefully his boss is understanding..and accidents happen. Most people would not fire someone unless it was a repeated problem. I once wrecked a van on my second day of work...talk about being afraid to be fired!! My boss was totally understanding..Thank Goodness!

My husband has slept through 2 alarms recently. He has 2 jobs.. a day job and a night job on the weekends. He's been so tired, but he won't cut back at all on the second job even though it's obviously messing him up.

Maybe he won't get fired because of that. Besides, this may be his first time to do it , not always. Don't worry we will pray for him. Update us about it, will you please?

I pray he may not lose the job. You may have asked him to go late in that case.

Does he have a smart phone too? He could set his for when he wants to get up and you set yours a bit later, otherwise why not get an actual alarm clock of some type? You should be supportive but I don't see why you should be the main one responsible for him hearing an alarm. Or you could get a second alarm for a precaution since you don't even remember turning off the alarm the day before. Don't you have to reset it each night? I have an ongoing alarm on my smart phone that I now use, but I do turn it off each morning and have to save it before bed each night.

Lets hope all things goes well, to err is human so lets hope it will not cost the job. But for me it is not really a huge mistake, well in my case of course.
