What do you do with your loose change?

I went through a phase where I was spending all the change I was collecting..but now I want to do something else with it. I don't have a lot but I am thinking of saving it an account or even adding it to the IRA. I need to look toward the future and as they say every little bit helps. Do you have a plan for your change?

I have been saving loose change for some time now. Every now and then I exchange some for a £1 coin or banknote and use the change at the supermarket. A few months ago I reached £100, which I gave to my neighbour towards a mobility scooter that he needed. Now I am up to about £35 again.

That was really nice of you! I do donate loose change sometimes..if I have it with me. It usually goes to animal charities.

@snowy22315 A mobility scooter can be very expensive and my neighbour genuinely needed one, so it was a good use for the extra cash.

What are your plans for it? Do you have anything you are saving it for?

I just keep it in my wallet and use it towards the next purchase. My ex hates change. The other day he was over and my daughter was trying to earn money for an autographed cd she wanted and he let her go out in his vehicle and search around for spare change. She got around $4 which added to what she already had was enough to preorder the cd.

We keep ours in a big jar and use it when it is needed or save it and do something fun with it.

Ours is all in a container. It can be hard to get rid of sometimes. Once we took it to a bank where you could sort it through a machine.

Yes, one of my banks has a free money counter change sorter in the front. One bank that I know of calls it the "penny arcade."

I need change for riding the Metro. Sometimes I will make a small purchase using just change. Sometimes I deposit in the bank.

Well, if I could find a New place to hide it, that would be Great. Lately cannot keep any extra $$ around here at all unless it is hidden somewhere where my husband cannot find it. At one time, I had over $20 in change saved up.
