New Years Resolutions - Do You Do Them?

Over the decades, I am sure I have made dozens of New Year's Resolutions. Sometimes I was successful in accomplishing them; sometimes I was not. The past few years, I have had two: Walk 1000 miles in a year Lose any amount of weight, as long as I weigh less at the end of the year than I did at the beginning. This year, I accomplished them both! I walked 1219 miles. I lost about 7 pounds. Those may not be huge accomplishments, but I'll take them! The photo above is one I took during one of my beach walks. Walking along the ocean is one of my favorite ways to accumulate miles! My goals for next year are the same. I plan to walk at least 1000 miles and lose some weight. What about you?

I used to do them as a kid, but kind of stopped doing them, as I would so easily forget them.

That's great you accomplished those goals this year ! I don't really make resolutions, but I do keep in mind the things I would like to improve on. If anything New Year's makes a good starting point if I haven't started anything already . Happy New Year to you and your family!!!

@DeborahDiane no... not at all ... I think they can be very helpful... especially if you can keep them... which unfortunately... I rarely managed to do

@sueznewz2 - I think that is a very common problem. That is why I do not set an amount of weight I want to lose. I'll be happy if I just lose a couple of pounds. At least things will be moving in the right direction!

It is a very long time since I made any New Year's resolutions. People tend to make either resolutions that they will fall to achieve or one of little interest. If I really wanted to achieve something then I would attempt to do so whatever the time of year.

@JohnRoberts - I hope you are enjoying our mild weather for New Years Eve. If I lived in LA, instead of Orange county, I would probably either go downtown or onto the Queen Mary for their parties! Instead, I am nice and cozy at home!

Way to go! I wanted to lose more weight this year than I did, I did drop 10 pounds and keep it off. I am not sure how far I have walked but its interesting to make that goal.

@andriaperry - Way to go! I am thrilled for you that you lost 10 pounds. I wear a Garmin fitness tracker, so it keeps track of my miles for me!
