Highlight of Your Day

A lot of you know my sister and brother-in-law have two adopted children (Amyra, pictured is 6; Hudson is 2). They had to come to Oklahoma City today for Hudson to see a specialist (they live 3 hours away from us). It's not serious, they just wanted a second opinion from the ear, nose, and throat doctor. Anyway, afterward we met up with them for lunch at a Mexican restaurant. It was so nice to turn my head and see this cute little face looking back at me. She got into a little bit of trouble from her dad, but everyone enjoyed each other. My sister's birthday is February first, so we brought cards and presents too. She was in a great mood, and that's always good. Even though I did a few more things today, that was definitely the highlight of my day. What was yours? *That is me with Amyra in the picture.

Hudson will probably struggle all his life, but this part of his journey is fairly simple. They want to take his adenoids and tonsils out, but they want to be sure it's necessary now because of his past surgeries. But he really is so much better now. He smiles and laughs, and doesn't seem to be in pain now that his trache tube is gone and his throat has healed.

@LadyDuck I'm sorry, I probably was not clear. Amyra has had surgery in the past. But she no longer needs any. She does physical therapy because her hamstrings are tight (an effect of being premature), and that makes her walk on the tips of her toes. Otherwise, she is great. Thank the Lord.

@AmbiePam Oh, so is Hudson who needs surgery, I mistakenly thought Amyra. Poor kid I am glad that he is no more in pain now.

Aw, cute picture. And glad you got to spend time with them while they were around. Kids are a big highlight for me when they're around. I love them. Happy early birthday to your sister. And hope they made it back home safely. My highlight was probably getting friendlys for a late lunch / first dinner.

You must love being an aunt - so nice you had a wonderful family time today. Very cute photo of you two. I hope Hudson will be ok! The highlight of my day was seeing a friend I haven't seen in 30 years . . . he happened to be a cashier at the store I went to!
