I Fell Off of the Sugar Wagon....

March 2, 2018 4:26pm CST
I did the sugar detox for 30 days, successfully. I stuck to it. I lost a little weight. I felt good. It wasn't that hard. Then a party happened. Then Valentine's Day. Then Life. And I'm back on sugar.... full-force. Sugar, sugar, sugar. Too much sugar. Sigh. 'Tis typical of me.

Hey, you had a goal and you stuck to it. I had that problem with bread. But with moderation, you can still enjoy your sugar! No one has to quick anything they like, we only have one life, might as well enjoy it.

@jillybean1222 My approach is moderation now. Cutting off the whole thing drives me completely nuts.

@jillybean1222 Or better to aim for two months then a treat period then back off again! Then treat then three months then a treat period gradually increasing by a month at a time! You can do it!

Thanks. And it really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. So I need to do it again. Maybe I could just do it for a month, relax for a month. Do ti for a month, relax. etc.

I don’t know if I can survive no sugar especially with all the temptations of the holidays and candy aisles. I need to try though!

I was going to start again yesterday and do it til Easter.... but guess what? Daylight savings time kicked my you-know-what.... and my tiredness has led to cravings and laziness and such.... so yeah, haven't started yet.

@jillybean1222 I am sure you will. Imagine getting through Easter on the wagon.

Praise yourself for the 30 days - and if you can do it once I'm sure you can do it again.

I love sugary foods! I've been trying to get healthier lately, but I'm not cutting anything out of my diet, or going too overboard. If I want a cookie I eat a cookie.. I"m just trying to replace unhealthy snacks with healthier ones. I've been snacking on carrot sticks and hummus, and I replaced my mayo on my sandwiches with guacamole instead, and I'm carrying around a water bottle. I've also been hitting the gym a few times a week as time allows. Just little things like that.

Oh goodness, this is too bad. Try at least to limit your intake of sugar.

Well you've shown that you can do it, perhaps you'll do it again.

I can understand. I can't just eat one cookie. It's either none at all or 5 or 6. Be proud of yourself for staying off sugar for a whole month. You can do it again.

I've learned thT when I have a couple of days off the bandwagon, I need to make a concerted effort to climb back on.

Be happy because of your 30 days. Cheat days and meals happen. Don't worry, go back to your sugar detox.

i would probably be more successful on a sugar detox than a salt one..but I haven't ever tried not to eat it, unless I was on some restrictive diet. I don't restrict myself like that now.

Sounds like typical me too . I would love to be completely without sugar, but those stupid cookies or sugary whatever end up in front of me - and then my brain conveniently "forgets" until after I eat them (with the regrets ).

You only live once, why would you want to restrict what you eat.

Me too. For me it was the holidays that did me in. I had to eat the bakery's gingerbread man cookies. I went bakery hopping and did I enjoy it. Then I went to the doctors and she lowered her boom. BOOM! I was almost normal sugar levels in my blood, lost 12 pounds at the previous check up she was elated and happy with my progress. Then this check up, I gained 7 pounds and both my ldl cholesterol and sugar levels went up! I ate fruitcake like it was no tomorrow too aside of Christmas cookies and chocolate dream cakes. I really enjoyed myself this past holiday season. Now I'm paying for it. Got to go and loose 12 pounds and bring cholesterol and sugar levels lower or it's meds! I hate meds and it's lower everything or meds!
